Chapter 553 Sure Enough, We Can't Let Our Guard Down

The next day, Susanna planned to sleep in, but Quinn's call ruined that plan.

With a groggy voice, Susanna grumbled, "This better be important."

"Ms. Jones, Vivian's illegitimate daughter just got exposed."

That snapped Susanna wide awake.

She frowned, "I told you yesterday to keep the banquet stuff under wraps. How did this happen?"

"I just found out too. I'm having people look into who's behind it. I sent the entertainment headline to your WhatsApp. Check it out."

After hanging up, Susanna grabbed her phone and saw the news.

#Owen's Illegitimate Daughter Revealed#

The headline alone was a bombshell.

Owen had always had a squeaky-clean image, known as a man of integrity. He was especially popular among married women in Novaria, seen as a classy and successful gentleman.

Because of this, his approval ratings were always high.

Now, with Owen up for re-election, this illegitimate daughter news was a huge blow.

Susanna was confused. Could it be Amelia? No way. After last night, she should've known the best way to handle Vivian.

Revealing this wouldn't help Amelia at all and would hurt The Richardson Family's business.

Susanna skimmed the report, which was based on last night's investment banquet. Owen had brought a young woman to the event and insiders said she was Owen's illegitimate daughter, living with The Richardson Family as a friend's daughter.

But insiders knew she wouldn't be brought home unless she had a special status.

The news hit hard, with many saying Owen's good-guy image was shattered.

The fact that such negative news spread so quickly without being suppressed made it clear that Owen's competitors were behind it.

After reading, Susanna immediately called Amelia, who picked up right away, "Susanna."

Susanna asked, "What's your connection to that headline?"

"You saw it too? I'm investigating. This has nothing to do with me. Why would I be dumb enough to do something that hurts everyone, giving my dad's business rivals a chance?"

Amelia knew the Richardson Family's business thrived because of Owen's support.

If his reputation tanked, their business would suffer.

Even though she was mad about Owen wanting to adopt Ramond, she never thought of ruining his reputation. She relied on his status to benefit their family.

"Alright, I guess this has nothing to do with you. I've got people looking into it. Just be careful around your dad," Susanna said, worried Vivian might be involved.

"I know, Susanna. Talk later."

Susanna stared at the headline for a bit, then turned off her phone, lay in bed for a while, and finally dragged herself up.

When she got to the living room, Aviana handed her a coffee. "You're up. Come eat something."

"Okay, Aviana."

Aviana added, "Charles is coming back to stay tomorrow. Let's go shopping later to see if we can buy something. I feel like something's missing, but I can't remember what."

Susanna glanced at the mountain of gifts in the living room and thought about the room prepared for Charles she saw last night. If she hadn't stopped them, Charles would barely have space to move except for the bed.

There were just too many gifts.

Now Aviana said something was still missing and wanted to go shopping. Susanna sighed, "Aviana, if you keep buying, there won't be any space left in the house."

"You don't get it. We don't know what Charles likes, so we buy everything. He can pick what he likes and leave the rest."

Hearing such a lavish approach, Susanna couldn't help but laugh.

Over the years, Edward and Aviana hadn't had kids, and Aviana loved children, so she was always good to Susanna's two kids.

Unable to resist Aviana, Susanna went shopping with her after breakfast to buy things for Charles.

While shopping for Charles, Susanna saw a familiar figure. Who else could that little boy be but Ramond?

Now Ramond was decked out in designer clothes, with a nanny in tow.

But he seemed even more arrogant and bratty than when he was with the Abbott Family, throwing a fit and hitting the nanny when a gift didn't meet his expectations.

The nanny didn't dare fight back and just tried to calm him down.

Ramond picked a gift and ran around the store, only to trip and fall.

The nanny rushed over, "I told you not to run around. How am I supposed to explain to the master if you get hurt?"

Ramond, clearly in pain, punched the nanny, "I don't care how you explain it. You're the one who's gonna get scolded, not me. It's your fault for not taking care of me, so you deserve it."

Seeing this, Susanna couldn't stand it anymore. She walked over and said to Ramond, "You shouldn't hit the nanny. Is this what Vivian taught you?"

She had seen Ramond a few times before. Although spoiled by Maud, he wasn't as arrogant and bratty as he was now, like a little tyrant.

Ramond clearly recognized her, and his eyes filled with hatred as he shouted, "None of your business, you bad woman."

It was the first time Susanna saw such deep hatred in Ramond's eyes.

In just a month or two, he seemed like a different person.

The next second, Vivian's anxious voice came from the side, "Susanna, what are you doing to Ramond? Stay away from him."
