Chapter 376 Susanna is Clearly Already Dead

Susanna spotted the tat on Vivian's ankle and looked all kinds of confused. What a trip.

Vivian caught the staring and yanked her foot back under the sheet, feeling all kinds of awkward. Why was Nova eyeballing her ankle?

Vivian glanced up and locked eyes with Susanna.

For a split second, Vivian's heart did a little flip. That face was a dead ringer for Susanna's. She almost thought she was seeing a ghost!

Vivian quickly looked away, telling herself it was just her mind playing tricks—Susanna was long gone.

After Vivian got hauled off, Susanna couldn't stop thinking about that tat on Vivian's ankle. It felt like she'd seen it somewhere before.

It seemed kinda important.

But she couldn't remember now 'cause her memory of the Abbott family was all fuzzy.

Right then, Maud chimed in with a smug tone, "This place is way better than I thought. Even the medical team is top-notch. Feels a lot safer."

"Yeah, I was worried about my hubby coming here 'cause it's out in the sticks, but now I see there's nothing to stress about."

"This place is really nice. I'd heard about it before but never checked it out."

Seeing the rich ladies all pleased, Susanna grinned too.

That's why she came to scope it out today.

Next thing, Ivy looked at her and said, "Ms. Ramirez, why are you grinning? You think it's funny someone got hurt at a birthday bash?"

Boom, the vibe totally shifted.

Susanna's smile vanished. "Should I give you a round of applause instead?"

Maud was fuming. "Is this how you talk to your elders?"

She smirked a bit. "In my book, she doesn't count as an elder."

Susanna went toe-to-toe with Maud, right in front of Aaron.

Maud glared at Aaron. "Aaron, did you hear that? Look how she treats Ivy."

Aaron's voice was chill. "I heard."

Maud was baffled.

"That's just how she is, Mom. As elders, you should cut her some slack."

Maud was so mad she almost lost it. "Aaron, are you seriously siding with her?"

Aaron narrowed his eyes a bit. "Someone got hurt, and it wasn't her fault. If you treat her like crap, how do you expect her to be nice?"

Ivy jumped in, "Aaron, she's at least your girlfriend, and we're your elders. How can you talk like that? Why would you pick a girl like her?"

"I usually have to sweet-talk her, so what can I do?"

Hearing Aaron's words, Susanna was floored. Aaron was full of it!

When did he ever sweet-talk her?

Lately, she'd seen Aaron less than she'd seen Elaine.

She shot Aaron a half-smile, but then her phone buzzed. Seeing it was her assistant, she suddenly remembered it was time for the matching results.

Susanna straightened up. "I gotta take this."

She rushed outside with her phone and answered, "Are the matching results in?"

"The match was successful."

"That's awesome."

Hearing the match was a go, Susanna covered her mouth, almost tearing up with joy. Even though she knew the odds were good, she didn't wanna jinx it until she had the results in hand.

After hanging up, Susanna immediately called Michael to hash things out.

Michael said, "Aaron needs to hit the hospital for a check-up. In a week, he can donate blood. If he's cool with the match, I can get Charles into the sterile room."

"Got it."

After hanging up, Susanna looked up at the night sky and smiled.

Right then, fireworks lit up the small garden, all colorful and beautiful.

The next second, Aaron showed up in front of her. "Was that a call from the hospital?"

Susanna looked at Aaron and nodded seriously. "Mr. Abbott, the match was successful. Are you still down to donate bone marrow to Lillian?"

"I won't back out."

Aaron knew that donating bone marrow wouldn't mess him up much, but it was a big deal for Lillian.

He said seriously, "Tomorrow, I'll sort out my work and then head to the hospital for the check-up."

Susanna's eyes suddenly got misty. "Thank you, really."

Kids were her soft spot!

After the birthday party, Susanna rushed to the hospital to be with Lillian.

Lillian had already heard from Charles about the successful match. She happily said to Susanna, "Mommy, will Charles get better soon?"

"That's right."

Susanna hugged Lillian. "Lillian, you've been so brave. Even though you hate hospitals, you have to stay here."

"It's not hard. I'm super strong!"

Lillian shook her head obediently. As long as Charles could get better and be like other kids, she could handle staying in the hospital.

The next day, Aaron kept his word and came to the hospital for the check-up.

Susanna waited nervously outside, not knowing why she suddenly felt so anxious.

When Aaron came out, Susanna rushed up to him. "How'd it go?"

"All done. You’ll get the results tomorrow.."

Susanna took a deep breath. "Mr. Abbott, since you've started prepping, I need to take Lillian back to Novaria. She needs to get ready for the sterile room."

Aaron frowned. "Can't she stay in the sterile room here?"

"Mr. Abbott, we're not from Lindwell. Long-term treatment here isn't great for Lillian's recovery, so I decided to go back to Novaria. Don't worry, once Lillian's better, we'll come back. After all, you saved her life!"

Susanna had already cooked up an excuse. When Aaron came to the hospital for the check-up, she would tell him about taking Lillian away from Lindwell.

Finally, Aaron nodded. "Okay. But aren't you worried I'll change my mind halfway?"

She shook her head. "No, because you're not that kind of guy."

Their eyes met, Aaron's gaze deep and mysterious, while Susanna's eyes were a bit shifty. "Why are you looking at me like that?"

Aaron chuckled. "I just didn't expect you to trust me so much."

"Relationships are tricky. At first, I was wary of you, but now it's different."

Aaron's gaze was probing. "Why is it different now?"
