Chapter 252 Exposed for Wearing Fakes
Susanna saw Erica walk in with a girl, and she recognized the girl as Violet, who was very close to Erica at the music academy.
Her gaze fell on Erica, and she realized that they were wearing the same dress!
Questions swirled in Susanna's mind. In Lindwell, there was supposed to be just one of that unique dress. Yet, she distinctly remembered purchasing it herself. Could it be possible that the dress Erica was donning was a counterfeit?
At this moment, As Erica's gaze locked onto Susanna's stunning evening gown, she couldn't help but feel a pang of envy. The dress was impeccably tailored, exuding luxury with its high-quality material.
Could it be that the only dress was bought by Susanna? It seemed highly improbable. How on earth could Susanna afford such an exquisite piece?
As soon as Erica appeared, everyone was looking at the dresses they were wearing!
Someone nearby whispered, "So who is wearing the fake one?"
Erica took the initiative, uttering, "Of course Susanna is! How could I possibly wear a fake?"
However, there was a hint of guilt in Erica's eyes. She hadn't expected that for just a small school event, someone would show up wearing this limited edition designer dress! The most annoying part was that the person wearing the dress was Susanna!
Violet, standing next to Erica, immediately chimed in, "Of course, after all, Ms. Jones is the heir to the Jones family in Novaria. How could someone of her status wear a fake? The bag she's carrying is a limited edition that perfectly complements the dress."
Erica's spirits lifted upon hearing Violet's words. With a newfound assurance, she turned her gaze towards Susanna. "Exactly," she remarked deliberately. "It's a package deal for us. If you happened to admire this dress and ended up with a replica, no worries at all. Nobody here will ever judge you for it."
Susanna's face clouded with offense at the hint of her dress being fake. This gown was a cherished gift from Aviana; doubting its authenticity felt like a betrayal of their bond. With resolve, Susanna shot back, "Accusing me of wearing a fake, Erica? Seems like you might be the one in a knock-off. After all, it's obvious the differences between our dresses!"
Susanna walked towards Erica, and the difference became particularly noticeable when they were close.
Erica's expression contorted unnaturally. She clutched her dress tightly, reluctant to make a hasty exit that might imply guilt. If she walked away now, wouldn't it simply confirm the suspicions about her dress? That was out of the question!
Someone nearby noticed the difference and whispered, "Indeed, the dress Susanna is wearing looks better."
"Yes, the material looks better, and the tailoring is more fitting."
Erica retorted immediately, "It's just a fake, how good can it look? The design of my dress is just like this!"
Susanna smirked, "Erica, I have the purchase record right here to back up the authenticity of this dress. If yours is genuine too, you should be able to provide the proof, shouldn't you?"
Erica's expression twisted. Where could she find a purchase record?
Just then, Violet interjected smugly, "Of course, we can show it. let's not try to hoodwink everyone with a bogus purchase record, okay?"
Erica was very embarrassed at this point and could only say reluctantly, "That's right, but this dress can't be bought with money alone; only members can buy it. I'm curious, how did you buy it? Do you have a membership card?"
She could only divert attention for now. As long as Susanna couldn't produce a membership card, it would prove that the dress Susanna was wearing was a fake!
"Because Susanna is Mrs. Abbott!"
Flandre walked over and looked at Erica disdainfully. "The entire school is buzzing about Susanna's ties to Aaron. Remember when someone snitched on Susanna for mouthing off? Well, Aaron personally waltzed into the principal's office to set the record straight about their marital status, in front of everyone."
Erica was instantly furious. She had heard about this, but fortunately, the news hadn't gone public yet and was only spreading within the school.
Standing by Erica's side, Violet fired back, "Susanna's on the verge of getting the boot from the Abbott family. What's the big deal about a woman who's practically out the door anyway?"
Flandre's temper flared instantly. "Hold up, you're spouting nonsense! Who do you think you're insulting here?"
"Am I wrong? If Susanna was really cherished by the Abbott family, how could she have kept such a low profile for so many years without any news? And after Susanna returned to school, she even went out to work part-time! Have you ever seen a member of a wealthy family work part-time?" Violet countered.
Flandre was almost in tears from anger. "That's because Susanna doesn't care about the Abbott family's money."
Erica's smirk widened. "If she doesn't care about the Abbott family's money, then why spend their money to buy a dress?"
Susanna, with a matching smirk, quipped, "So you admit my dress is the real deal?"
Erica's smile froze slightly. Damn, she fell into Susanna's trap!
Violet immediately retorted, "Ms. Jones means that if Susanna is so proud, why waste cash on a counterfeit dress? Maybe pretending to be noble while keeping up appearances? Flandre, you shower Susanna with compliments, but you couldn't even step into the doorway of a wealthy family!"
Susanna overheard Violet's swipe at Flandre and her demeanor turned icy. In a swift motion, she seized a nearby cup of water and threw it towards Violet, declaring, "Since your words are as filthy as they come, let me give you a little rinse."
"You dare to splash me?" Erica, standing next to Violet, was caught in the crossfire.
A sly smile played on Susanna's lips as she remarked, "Oh, my apologies. My hand must have slipped. I intended to splash the one with the unsavory tongue!"
Erica was furious. "You did it on purpose, didn't you? Are you jealous that I'm wearing the genuine dress?"
At this moment, a female celebrity walked out of a nearby room. With a curious glance at Erica's dress, she remarked, "Why does it look like your dress is losing its color?"
Erica then noticed that the dress had discolored after being wet, and her face turned pale.
The female celebrity said suspiciously, "It shouldn't be. The fabric used for this dress shouldn't fade; it should even be waterproof."
Hearing this, Susanna took a nearby water cup and dripped some water on her dress. The water rolled off the dress without being absorbed, let alone fading. The atmosphere at the scene became awkward.
The female celebrity coughed and said, "It seems everyone can see clearly who is wearing the genuine dress and who is wearing the fake one."
Erica's visage darkened with anger. Gritting her teeth, she shot a fierce look in Susanna's direction, her expression a mix of fury and humiliation. This was a moment of unparalleled embarrassment for her.
Erica felt everyone around her laughing at her and suddenly screamed, "What are you looking at? Get out of here!"
The others didn't dare to anger Erica and quickly left the place.
Only Erica, Susanna, and Flandre were left at the scene.
Erica was extremely angry and questioned, "Susanna, how could you afford the genuine dress? How did you steal it?"
Susanna replied nonchalantly, "Well, my family bought it for me."
