Chapter 198 A Cousin

Brian took a moment. "It's all on your ex, Susanna. If someone as kind as you couldn't stand him, it's definitely his fault."

Susanna was sweet, simple, and adorable. How could any guy not treasure her and let her file for divorce?

Anyway, it was definitely the other guy's fault.

Susanna smiled weakly. "Brian, I made mistakes too."

Her mistake was being too soft-hearted and impulsively marrying Aaron, leading to one wrong step after another.

Brian gave her a reassuring pat on the head. "Susanna, in my eyes, you're always in the right! Divorce happens, no biggie; it's just how things go these days. Once we're back in Novaria, I know some awesome guys. I'll hook you up with a few."

"Brian, I'm not considering any relationships at the moment."

"That's right. Marriage is the grave of love. You can date around, and if you get tired of one guy, just switch to another," Brian said.

That was Brian's take on love.

She paused. "Brian, don't tell others about my divorce for now."

"Susanna, none of us would mind. We'd just feel heartbroken. If we had found you earlier, you wouldn't have had to suffer so much. If you're worried about your ex causing trouble, we can talk to him for you. Daniel is a lawyer; he can extort a hefty sum from your ex to teach him a lesson."

"It's not that. I just don't want you to go looking for him. After all, I'm leaving here soon and don't want any entanglements with my ex."

"Susanna, it's good that you think that way. Since you don't want to talk about it, I won't press you. But Edward..." Brian trailed off.

Susanna got what he meant. "I'll tell Edward about it myself when we get back to Novaria."

And about the baby.

Once she was in Novaria, she'd be safe and wouldn't have to hide this from her brother anymore.

Brian nodded. "Oh, by the way, Susanna, your school's got a music festival coming up, and they're bringing in a team from Novaria to perform."

"I know, it's a famous piano group. Some students from our music department are hoping to join that team. It's a rare opportunity," Susanna replied.

Brian turned to her. "Susanna, do you want to go?"

"If I'm free, I'd love to catch the piano concert. It's bound to be a great show."

"Susanna, I mean, do you want to join that piano team and study with them? You have quite a talent for piano. When you get to Novaria, you could develop in that direction."

Brian genuinely believed Susanna had the talent. She had been held back as a child, but if she hadn't been lost back then, she would have grown up to be an excellent pianist.

Susanna was a bit surprised. "Brian, I'm just starting to learn piano. I only know a few tunes, not even at an elementary school level. There's no way I could join that team. Don't tease me like that."

"Susanna, just tell me if you want to go or not," Brian said.

"I do want to go. I liked playing the piano as a child. But that team has high standards; not just anyone can join."

Susanna knew her brother had a lot of confidence in her, but she was well aware of her own level.

"Susanna, you should have dreams. What if they come true?"

Brian's words hit home. If Susanna agreed, everything would fall into place.

He had plenty of time to help Susanna become a renowned pianist.

The next day, Susanna went to school, but soon got a call. "Hello, is this Susanna? This is the Guardian Police Station. We have some questions about the economic crimes of Epic Horizon's boss, Dick. Could you come by when you have time?"

After hanging up, Susanna was puzzled. What did this have to do with her?

She was just a part-time employee at Epic Horizon.

Could Dick be trying to frame her?

After thinking it over, Susanna decided to take a cab to the police station. When she arrived, the police asked, "What's your connection to Dick?"

"We went to the same school, and later I worked part-time at Epic Horizon," Susanna replied honestly.

"Part-time? But according to Dick and some colleagues, you and Dick are in a relationship. And Epic Horizon has been using your name to secure financing. Did you know about this?"

Susanna was stunned. "I didn't know about that."

"Susanna, we wouldn't have called you in if we didn't have evidence. Denying it won't help."

Susanna answered seriously, "I told you, Dick did this behind my back. I want to file a report; Dick's actions are criminal. Other than my salary, I haven't taken any extra money. You can check that."

"But according to our investigation, you recently bought a property and paid off a million-dollar loan. Based on your current income, where did you get that much money? Dick said it was money he gave you, but it didn't go through the official accounts," the police explained.

Susanna felt a chill. After encountering Dick at the bank, he must have secretly investigated her.

No wonder Dick's attitude towards her changed so much back then; he must have found out about her early loan repayment.

At that time, he must have been short on money, which is why he suddenly pursued her so eagerly.

So it was all about her money.

Brian was right; Dick was a schemer.

Thinking of this, Susanna calmly replied, "That money was from my brother."

"You're an orphan. Where did you get a brother?"

At that moment, a cold voice came from behind her. "She has a cousin."

Susanna's back stiffened as she turned to see Aaron, surprise in her eyes. "Why is he here?"

After Aaron appeared, his lawyer stepped forward with documents to handle the situation.

Susanna was taken aside, and she whispered, "Why are you here?"

Aaron looked down. "Dick told the police I kidnapped and assaulted him. He also told my lawyer that if I didn't get him out, he would press charges."

Susanna gritted her teeth. "That ungrateful jerk."

"Now you see what happens when you mess with a tiger?" Aaron asked.

Susanna looked up. "Didn't you say before that Dick wouldn't find any evidence?"

"There wasn't any, but you voluntarily testified. The police found out we're married, so now they have a lead," Aaron replied.

Susanna paused. "I can tell the police it's all fake."

"Forget it. I don't want you to accidentally get me locked up." Aaron looked down at her, adding, "From now on, my lawyer will handle both cases. Don't get involved."

Just then, a man's cold voice interrupted, "Sorry, Susanna has her own lawyer!"
