Chapter 485 Give Her a Good Lesson
Susanna straightened her clothes, shot a look at the smug Betsy, and said, "I should be the one saying that to you."
"What do you mean?"
"This is Philly, not some tiny place like Emerald Island."
"How dare you call Emerald Island a tiny place? That's ridiculous. Have you even heard of Emerald Island? If you haven't been to school, I suggest you go back and brush up on your history before talking to me."
Betsy’s tone was dripping with arrogance.
Susanna, staying cool, replied, "Come on, I know about Emerald Island. Feudal times are long gone. How long are you gonna keep living in that fantasy?"
Over the years, Susanna had dealt with folks from Emerald Island and done business with them, but they always acted all high and mighty.
So, Susanna had a deep-seated dislike for people from Emerald Island.
Seeing Betsy's snooty attitude today only made her dislike them even more.
Betsy, all smug, said, "So you do know history. Even after all this time, our family's legacy is way above you common folks. If it weren't for the contributions of our family back then, would you even have your life now? I'm nothing like you commoners."
"Honestly, I suggest you see a shrink."
Susanna had met people from Emerald Island, but none as delusional as Betsy.
"How dare you be so arrogant. Someone, grab her, strip her, and throw her in front of the research institute's gate. I want to see who else dares to speak to me like this."
At that moment, all of Betsy's bodyguards surrounded them.
In that second, Aaron stepped in front of Susanna. He glanced at her and said, "Take this and stay aside."
A suit was shoved into Susanna's hands. She looked at Aaron's back and tentatively said, "Can you handle this alone?"
Aaron leisurely rolled up his sleeves and replied, "As a man, I must protect the woman I love."
Betsy, standing nearby, looked at Aaron and said, "You are quite handsome, my type. If you choose to come to my side now, I might consider sparing your life and even give you a monthly allowance to ensure you live comfortably."
Susanna showed a surprised expression upon hearing this. How did Aaron become so popular after coming to Philly?
If he ever decided to quit being a CEO and become a gigolo, he would probably live comfortably too.
However, Aaron's face turned sour, as if he had been insulted.
He looked at Betsy and said, "You are not qualified to negotiate with me."
Betsy's expression immediately changed as she said, "I am a lady from a prestigious family of Emerald Island, with noble blood. Compared to her, even a blind person would know who to choose. Do you know how many men want to date me? I don't give them a chance. Now I'm giving you a chance and offering you money, and you still don't want it?"
Susanna stood aside with a smirk and said, "These days, no guy's crazy enough to want women from Emerald Island."
Sure, women from Emerald Island had that noble status, but after all these years, only a couple of families actually had any real clout.
The rest? They were just nobodies on Emerald Island.
But these folks loved to flaunt their so-called noble blood outside, thinking they were all that. Everyone knew that if it weren't for the perks of being tied to Emerald Island, no guy would marry a woman from there.
Betsy glared at Aaron and said, "You're refusing because of her, right? Fine, today I will personally destroy her."
Betsy then barked at her bodyguards, "What are you waiting for? Grab her."
When the bodyguards charged at Susanna, Aaron stepped in front of her and fought them off. Even though they were many, Aaron was skilled and held his ground.
But with Aaron alone, and considering he had hurt his wrist trying to save her earlier, it was only a matter of time before he got overwhelmed.
Aaron finally stood in front of her, wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth, and said, "Where are your bodyguards? Why isn't any of them here?"
Susanna coughed and said, "I didn't bring any bodyguards, but I've already messaged my secretary. Backup's on the way."
Aaron's face darkened even more upon hearing this because she had come to see Michael, so she didn't bring many bodyguards!
He felt inexplicably frustrated!
Seeing she had the upper hand, Betsy smugly looked at Aaron and said, "See, I told you, you can't stop me alone. But you are quite skilled. How about becoming my bodyguard? I will offer you a generous salary, much better than what she can offer. Following me is much better than following her."
Susanna looked at Betsy and said, "Unfortunately, your moment of triumph is over."
As soon as Susanna finished speaking, a group of heavily armed bodyguards rushed in.
Betsy immediately took a step back, warily looking at Susanna, and said, "Do you know who I am? Even if you called so many people, do you dare to touch me? If you offend Emerald Island, you will all pay dearly."
Susanna sneered and gestured to the bodyguards. Soon, all of Betsy's bodyguards were knocked to the ground, unable to move.
Seeing this, Betsy panicked but stubbornly said, "Offending Emerald Island won't end well for you. Besides, I am your boss's fiancée. If Michael finds out you treated me like this, you are all finished."
Aaron looked at Susanna in surprise and asked, "What's her relationship with Michael?"
Betsy quickly answered, "I am Michael's fiancée."
A smile appeared in Aaron's eyes. Fiancée? This was good news.
At this moment, Susanna stepped forward and slapped Betsy.
