Chapter 528 Both Them Need to Be Coaxed

Aaron was floored when he heard Susanna's voice.

He never thought the backup Charles called in would be Susanna!

Right then, a thought hit Aaron: He's toast.

He regretted not listening to Sam earlier and going too hard.

Seeing Aaron's shocked face, Sam asked, "Aaron, what's up? Did you make your kid cry? Who's gonna comfort him?"

Aaron frowned, "It's not about him. The backup he called in was Susanna."

Sam put down his phone and leaned over to check the computer. "Then you better explain yourself quickly."

Aaron sighed, looking at the attack on the screen, and finally gave up resisting.

Soon, all of Aaron's firewalls were toast.

Only then did Susanna stop and turn to Charles. "I got your back."

Charles looked at the computer, expressionless. "Mom, didn't you notice something was off?"

"What's off?"

"The guy didn't even fight back."

"That's 'cause he knew he couldn't win and didn't want to tick us off, so he gave up. Shows he's got some sense."

Aaron spoke up slowly, "This is a misunderstanding. I can explain."

Hearing Aaron's voice through her headset, Susanna took off her headphones and glanced at Charles. Was that Aaron? Or was she hearing things?

Susanna never thought Aaron had already figured out Charles's identity and contacted him!

That sneaky guy.

Was Aaron trying to win over Charles behind her back?

Susanna thought she had hidden Charles's identity well. Aaron knew he existed, but she never told him who the other kid was.

But now, Susanna wasn't so sure.

When and how did Aaron find out?

Susanna looked at Charles cautiously. "Do you know who you were just up against?"

Charles rolled his eyes, "Mom, you already know who he is. Why ask me?"

"Oh my God, Charles, you know who he is. How did you meet him? Did he try to trick and kidnap you?" Susanna's mind spun a wild tale of Aaron trying to kidnap Charles.

Charles replied flatly, "No, I made the first move."

Susanna was stunned, "Why?"

"I wanted to warn him to get out of Philly and stay away from us."

"You didn't hack his computer to warn him, did you?" Susanna suddenly remembered Aaron's company had been hacked before. She looked at Charles in disbelief, "So, the hack on Aaron's company in Lindwell was you?"

"Yeah, that was me."

"Did you know who Aaron was back then?" Susanna always thought she had hidden things well, but it turned out it was all just her imagination.

Sometimes, Charles being too smart was a headache, making her feel like a clueless mom.

Susanna cautiously asked Charles, "What did you two talk about?"

"What could we talk about? I just wanted to beat him and make him leave."

Charles's face turned a bit awkward. No way he was telling Susanna he actually lost to Aaron!

Susanna grabbed the headset and snapped into the mic, "Aaron, I can't believe you went behind my back to approach my son. Who do you think you are?"

Aaron had been waiting by the computer, too nervous to log off.

Hearing Susanna's voice, he felt a bit of relief. If she was talking, there was still hope.

Aaron replied calmly, "To be fair, he came to me first. I only figured out who he was later."

"Cut the crap. He hacked your company's website before, and you didn't find out. How come you know now?"

Aaron raised an eyebrow, "So you're saying the previous hack in Lindwell was him too?"

Susanna was surprised, "You didn't know?"

Charles, frustrated, said, "Mom, can you stop spilling everything?"

Aaron didn't know before, but now he knew it all.

Susanna touched Charles's forehead. "That's not important. Watch me stand up for you."

She spoke into the mic, "Even if the kid did it before, so what? You haven't been a father all these years. Now he hacks a website, and you're being petty."

"I don't care about the hack. But his attitude was too cocky. I wanted to teach him a small lesson. A bit of suffering is good for him."

"My son has been smart since he was little. He doesn't need lessons. He's suffered so much since birth; he deserves to be pampered now. What gives you the right to make him suffer?"

Susanna was angry. Charles had been given a death notice at birth, and they had fought hard to save him.

Such a small child had suffered so much; why should he suffer more?

Hearing this, Aaron thought of how Charles had almost died at birth and had spent years in a research institute. He felt a pang of sympathy.

Aaron softened his tone, "That's not what I meant. You're spoiling him too much; it's not good for his growth."

"That's a weird thing to say. Spoiling him is bad for his growth, so should he face challenges from a young age for his growth? My son won't be spoiled."

Aaron was at a loss for words.

Sam took off his headset. "I think Susanna has a point. The kid's been stuck in a research institute since he was little. His only fun is online. The kid's had it tough; he's pretty pitiful."

Aaron turned on his mic, "I was wrong this time. I shouldn't have said that."

Susanna turned to Charles. "See, he apologized to you."

Charles's expression turned a bit smug. He tentatively asked, "Mom, do you know about the hacker war against terrorists back then?"
