Chapter 508 The Battle of the Illegitimate Daughter

Susanna let out a small sigh when she saw Amelia coming down.

She was planning to head straight to the private room to find Amelia, but Amelia beat her to it.

Vivian spotted Amelia and sneered, "If we're being honest, you're the real illegitimate child here."

Amelia acted without pause. She slapped Vivian, yanked her hair, and growled, "Don't get all high and mighty on me. If I felt like it, you wouldn't make it to tomorrow."

Vivian screamed in pain and yanked at Amelia's hair in return. "Who do you think you are? I'll make sure you don't see tomorrow! Let go of me!"

"Why should I? What makes you think you can be so arrogant?"

They started brawling right there in the elevator.

Owen saw things getting out of hand, his face darkening. He glanced around to see if anyone was watching.

He couldn't let this go on.

He rushed into the elevator and shouted, "What are you two doing? Stop it! You're acting like children!"

Vivian snapped, "She started it, and you saw it too."

Amelia angrily adjusted her clothes, staying silent because she knew Owen would always side with Vivian.

Maud, standing nearby, quickly chimed in, "Mr. Richardson, don't be fooled by Vivian. She's always scheming and lying. Remember, she pretended to be virtuous for five years just to stay in the Abbott Family. Now that she has someone backing her, she's a different person. Don't let her deceive you."

Owen's face turned awkward.

Vivian sneered, "Do you even know who my backer is?"

Maud glanced at Owen, her expression turning awkward too. She cautiously asked, "Is Ramond your son?"

Amelia laughed, "Dad, do you think people will talk behind your back when they find out? They'll call you an ungrateful scumbag who brought an illegitimate child into the family as soon as you got power."

Vivian fumed at the term "illegitimate child" and snapped, "Who are you calling an illegitimate child? Dad, you saw it. I tried to get along with Amelia, but she never accepted me. It was her mom who caused you and my mom to separate. I never held that against her. But she keeps calling me an illegitimate child. If this gets out, it won't be good for Ramond's reputation either."

Maud was stunned when she heard Vivian call Owen "Dad."

She looked at Vivian, then at Owen, and finally at Aaron, saying, "Vivian is the president's daughter?"

Maud couldn't believe it.

Vivian was actually Owen's illegitimate daughter.

No wonder Vivian came from Lindwell to Philadelphia.

Vivian smirked, "Surprised? You always called me low-born. That's just because I kept a low profile and never mentioned my background."

Maud's face kept changing.

Susanna noticed Maud's reaction and remembered how Maud looked when Susanna's identity as the heir to the Jones Family was revealed years ago.

It seemed that no matter how many years had passed, Maud's snobbish nature hadn't changed.

Amelia sneered, "We never acknowledged Vivian's identity. She's just an illegitimate child who can't be acknowledged publicly."

Maud's expression relaxed, and she nodded, "Indeed, in families like ours, such things are common. But an illegitimate child will always be kept in the shadows. That's just how it is."

Maud couldn't stand the thought of Vivian being above her. Fortunately, Vivian was just an illegitimate child.

She immediately looked at Aaron and said, "Aaron, don't be fooled by Vivian. She's just an illegitimate child, and her status is not worth mentioning."

Vivian looked at Maud defiantly, "Sorry, even if my status is not worth mentioning, Aaron will still cooperate with Owen because of me."

Maud's face changed slightly, "Aaron, are you out of your mind? How can you cooperate with Mr. Richardson because of Vivian? You have plenty of opportunities to cooperate; why let Vivian influence your decisions?"

Aaron didn't say anything, just glanced at Susanna.

Susanna had a mocking look in her eyes but didn't comment.

She already knew Aaron was planning to cooperate with Owen, but she didn't care. She'd deal with it when the time came.

Owen tried to smooth things over. "Maud, it's not what you think."

"Mr. Richardson, I came to Philadelphia this time at Amelia's invitation. If it were an invitation from an illegitimate child, I definitely wouldn't have come. We, the people from prominent families, can't afford to lose face."

Owen's face darkened, "Actually, Vivian is not really my illegitimate child. Her mother and I were truly in love, but we broke up due to some misunderstandings. I didn't know she was pregnant. If I had known earlier, I wouldn't have let Vivian stay outside for so many years."

Vivian pretended to be very touched and went up to hold Owen's hand. "Dad, I understand your difficulties. I've never blamed you. Being able to return to your side now is the best outcome for me."

Seeing Vivian's act, the three women present all felt disgusted.

Maud was angry because she had underestimated Vivian, who had deceived her and now turned out to be Owen's daughter.

Amelia was angry because she found Vivian's acting nauseating.

Susanna found it ironic. She took Amelia's hand and said, "Let's go eat."

Owen looked at them and said, "Since everyone is here, why don't we all have a meal together?"

Susanna frowned and was about to refuse on Amelia's behalf, but Amelia immediately agreed, "Sure, let's eat together."
