Chapter 588 The Time to Face Punishment Has Come

Aaron stepped up and stared at Vivian, his eyes icy. "So, why are you here?"

Vivian, looking guilty, replied, "I heard Maria woke up, so I came to check on her."

"Really? And you just happened to remove Grandma's ventilator, huh?"

"No, it wasn't me. When I got here, Maria's ventilator was already off. You have to believe me." Vivian felt something was off. Why wasn't Aaron worried at all?

She glanced back at the hospital bed, only to see the elderly woman, who had been struggling moments ago, standing up. Only then did Vivian realize this wasn't Maria at all; it was a trap.

She looked at Aaron in disbelief. "So, you knew I was coming to the hospital all along?"

"Or what?"

"You set this trap a long time ago, just waiting for me to fall into it?" Despite her words, Vivian was trembling with fear.

Aaron looked down at Vivian. "Did you really think you could evade the law for so many years?"

"It wasn't me. The tattoo is gone. What evidence do you have to convict me?"

"Just the fact that you were a convict who escaped through illegal means and attempted a second murder. These charges are enough to keep you in prison for the rest of your life."

Vivian was stunned and clung to Aaron's leg. "No, I can't be arrested. Ramond is still in Novaria and can't manage without me."

Aaron kicked Vivian away. "Having a mother like you is the greatest misfortune for Ramond."

"But how could the Owen Family treat Ramond well? You should bring him to the Abbott Family."

Aaron's expression was icy. "I think Ramond staying with the Owen Family is just fine."

Vivian felt a chill all over. "Aaron, you're doing this on purpose, aren't you?"

"That's right. I'm deliberately taking revenge on you. After all, Ramond is just a pawn to you."

Vivian was immediately restrained by the bodyguards. This time, she didn't resist, knowing it was all over for her.

Vivian looked resentful. "All of this is because Maria didn't let me return to the Abbott Family. Raymond is also an Abbott, so why can't he?"

Aaron said coldly, "Take Vivian to the police station."

"Aaron, you'll pay for this. How could you wealthy people possibly understand how hard our lives are? If you had just given us some money, Ramond and I could have lived well. I wouldn't have done any of this. It's all your fault."

After Vivian was taken away, Aaron's legs almost gave out from the emotional shock. The secretary stepped forward to support him. "Mr. Abbott, are you alright?"

Aaron asked, "Do you think this is my retribution?"

The secretary saw that Aaron's lips were pale and explained quickly, "Mr. Abbott, don't take the words of such a malicious woman to heart. She's just a selfish person. If Mrs. Abbott had kept Vivian back then, who knows what other evil things she would have done." Aaron took a step forward and fainted on the ground.

The next day, when Susanna woke up, she suddenly felt uneasy. As usual, she took the children to the hospital to visit Maria. But when they arrived, the secretary hurried over. "Ms. Jones, Mr. Abbott has fainted."

Susanna asked, "What happened to him?"

"Last night, Vivian was caught, but she said some very hurtful things. Mr. Abbott fainted from anger," The secretary briefly explained what had happened the previous night.

Susanna's face went pale. "How's Aaron doing now?"

"He hasn't woken up yet. The doctor said he's been too exhausted and needs to rest."

Susanna thought for a moment and said, "Let him rest. I'll handle the situation with Vivian."

She looked down at Charles and Lillian. "You two stay at the hospital and wait for me to come back, okay?"

Lillian nodded obediently. "Now that the bad woman is caught, Great-Grandma will be safe, right?"

"That's right. So stay here and keep Maria company."

Before leaving, Susanna patted Charles on the head. "I'm counting on you here. Everyone will listen to you."

After giving all the instructions, Susanna went straight to the police station. Vivian had been detained overnight and was now in a sorry state.

Susanna, dressed to the nines, appeared in front of Vivian. "Why did you set me up back then?" This was something Susanna had never understood.

Seeing the designer labels on Susanna, Vivian's eyes burned with jealousy. "You didn't deserve to stay in the Abbott Family. If Maria could accept an orphan like you, why couldn't she accept me and Ramond? I wanted to teach Maria a lesson, to get rid of her so no one would stand in my way."

Susanna wasn't surprised by Vivian's answer. She looked at Vivian coldly. "But now you'll spend the rest of your life in prison."

"Susanna, what are you so proud of? If you were in my shoes, you wouldn't have done any better. If I were the heir to the Jones Family, I wouldn't have ended up like this."

"Even now, you don't get it. I was just an orphan, and Maria was so good to me. She didn't like you, not because of your status, but because of who you are."

Susanna stood up and looked at Vivian. "Your life in prison won't be easy. For the rest of your life, you'll find that living is a luxury."

"What are you going to do?"

"You'll find out soon enough." Susanna gave Vivian a meaningful smile, scaring her pale.

After leaving the police station, Susanna thought about Maria's current state and felt a wave of depression.

She thought, 'Why is it that good people often don't have good endings, but bad people live well and rarely get punished? But Vivian has hurt so many people; she needs to be punished.'

When Susanna returned to the hospital, she saw Charles sitting outside with a computer, and the secretary standing nearby, looking serious.

The secretary saw Susanna and quickly walked over, whispering, "The software from the development department was sent over, but Mr. Aaron Abbott hasn't woken up. No one but he can test the software. The development department wanted to get the sign-off quickly, or it would delay the project. But Mr. Charles Abbott took the computer and found the problem. He's fixing the bugs now."

The secretary was shocked, not expecting Charles to be so capable. The development department had initially wanted to cause trouble, but Charles had handled it so well that they thought Aaron had hired a top expert.

Susanna wasn't surprised at all. She smiled and said, "Let him handle it. It's no big deal for him."

At that moment, a nurse walked over. "Mr. Abbott is awake. Family members can visit now."

Susanna thought, 'Why is everyone looking at me? I'm just the ex-wife.'
