Chapter 327 Is Mr. Abbott Single?
Aaron's heart took a nosedive when he heard Susanna's answer.
'Since childhood? So, she's not Susanna at all?' he thought, his mind racing.
Susanna eyed Aaron and asked, "Why the sudden interest?"
Aaron grabbed a glass, filled it with red wine, and knocked it back in one go.
Susanna watched him, noticing his mood tanking. Was it her tear mole that put him off?
Aaron set the glass down, red wine dripping from his lips onto his clothes, making him look a bit of a mess.
He cleared his throat. "Ms. Ramirez, let's cut to the chase. The special medicine—what do I gotta do to get it?"
Susanna could tell he was dodging the topic, clearly not wanting to dig deeper into the previous conversation.
Holding back her curiosity, she smiled. "Depends on what you've got."
His eyes darkened. "Name your price."
"But I don't need anything. How am I supposed to name a price? You're the one who wants something from me. Think hard about how to convince me to hand over the special medicine," Susanna replied.
Aaron looked at her and admitted, "I don't know how to persuade women."
"I don't buy that. Has Mr. Abbott been single all these years without ever convincing a girlfriend or wife?" Susanna probed, her eyes locked on him, trying to figure out his relationship status.
Aaron met her gaze, the face so much like Susanna's, and replied calmly, "Yeah, single for years."
"Single for years? But there must've been a time you weren't single, right? Never convinced a girlfriend?" Susanna pressed.
Aaron thought back to four years ago and said coldly, "I tried, but it didn't go well."
Susanna wasn't shocked. Aaron didn't seem like the type who was good at romance or paying attention to a woman's needs. Born rich and good-looking, he probably had plenty of admirers.
Taking a small sip of her wine, Susanna asked, "And then you broke up?"
Aaron took another sullen sip but stayed silent, leaving Susanna puzzled by his mood.
Suddenly, she felt a bit frustrated. If this kept up, tonight's probing would be a bust.
She brushed her hair back and leaned in. "Mr. Abbott, didn't you ask me to name my terms? Well, I've thought of one."
"Go on."
"Mr. Abbott, you're so handsome and have been single for years. How about we go on a date?" Susanna suggested.
She looked confidently at Aaron, showing off her best side. In her black dress, she was sure she could win him over.
If he agreed to date her, he could get the special medicine and save a billion dollars. This deal was a no-brainer. She believed Aaron wouldn't be dumb enough to say no!
Money and beauty were temptations most men couldn't resist.
Aaron quietly looked at Susanna and suddenly leaned in closer, making the air between them more charged.
Susanna's smile deepened, but her eyes still held a hint of caution and curiosity. Was he really taking the bait?
As they were close, Susanna could see Aaron's sharp features and smooth skin. She had to admit, the guy was seriously good-looking, totally her type. Then, out of nowhere, he reached out, making her breath catch. Just as she was about to pull back, his fingers brushed her cheek, lingering on the tiny tear mark under her eye.
Susanna was floored. What was he doing?
When Aaron realized the mark was real, his eyes turned incredibly sad. He quickly pulled back, leaning into his chair, his tone cold. "Ms. Ramirez, sorry, but I can't agree to that condition."
Susanna stared at him, her heart racing with a mix of emotions. Trying to hide her turmoil, she took a quick sip of wine, but it didn't help much.
Coughing a bit, she managed to ask, "What was that about?"
He replied calmly, "The tear mole is beautiful."
Aaron was definitely lying! That move wasn't admiration; it was a test.
Susanna felt weird but couldn't figure out why. Maybe she was overthinking it?
Aaron checked the time. "Ms. Ramirez, aside from that condition, think of another one."
Standing up, he handed her his business card. "Here's my card. If you ever need anything in Lindwell, I can help."
Susanna glanced at the card, murmuring, "The Abbott family of Lindwell?"
No wonder Aaron was so cocky; he was the president of the Abbott family in Lindwell! He was known to be a capable and ruthless guy.
The Jones family didn't deal much with Lindwell, so she wasn't too familiar with the scene there. But she had heard of the Abbott family's reputation. They were the richest family in Lindwell.
Aaron pulled his hand back and said, "Yes, if you can't think of a condition, I owe you a favor."
Susanna raised an eyebrow. "Any favor?"
"As long as it's not illegal or immoral, I can help."
Her eyes lit up, about to say something when Aaron cut her off, "No personal emotional stuff."
Susanna immediately lost interest. "Mr. Abbott, what if I insist on being with you?"
Aaron's face stayed stoic. "Ms. Ramirez, my favor is worth more than being with me. Think about it."
Aaron's confident exit left Susanna intrigued, holding onto the business card from this mysterious encounter. Finishing her steak, she headed back to her room, her mind buzzing with the night's events.
Lillian was waiting on the couch. Seeing her return, her eyes lit up. "Mommy, you're back. How'd it go?" she asked.
"Not great!"
Lillian's eyes dimmed. "Mommy, he didn't pass the test, did he?"
"No, I failed the test."
"Does that mean it was successful?" Lillian happily waved her little hands.
Susanna pinched Lillian's cheek. "No, he refused my test, but there's no rush. We still have time."
"Mommy, can I use the special medicine to test him?"
"Adult games aren't for kids."
Seeing Lillian wanting to get involved, Susanna playfully tapped her nose. "It's late. Go take a bath and sleep. Staying up too late will stunt your growth!"
Lillian obediently ran to the bathroom. Susanna watched her with a smile, but when she looked at the business card in her bag, a thoughtful expression crossed her face.
She couldn't believe there was a man she couldn't handle! She'd continue tomorrow!
