Chapter 261 Dahlia's Jealousy

Seeing the envy on Dahlia's face, Susanna suggested to Madison, "Hey, since we're going out, why not wear the bracelet? You hardly ever show it off."

Madison smiled. "I work at a supermarket, so I don't have a chance to wear it. I'd be heartbroken if it got damaged."

"Come on, today’s perfect since you’re off work," Susanna teased.

Aviana added, "Yeah, put it on. Show off Susanna's gift."

Madison finally gave in and went to get the bracelet.

Susanna and Aviana exchanged a knowing look.

When Madison came back with the jade bracelet, Dahlia said enviously, "Is this the bracelet Susanna bought? It's beautiful, looks a lot like mine."

Madison smiled, "Really? I don't wear it much. I told Susanna not to buy it, but she insisted."

Susanna quickly said, "Madison, it's not as expensive as you think. My brother's business is doing great. I promise, I'll get you an even fancier one next time."

Clementine asked, "How much did it cost?"

Madison replied, "About ten thousand dollars."

Dahlia exclaimed, "Ten thousand? You can't get this quality for that price unless it's fake."

Susanna grinned, "Dahlia, you have a good eye. It actually cost a hundred thousand. I told Madison a lower price so she wouldn't refuse."

"A hundred thousand?"

Dahlia and Clementine looked shocked.

Madison quickly took off the bracelet. "This is too precious. What if something happens to it?"

"Madison, just wear it. Money isn't an issue," Susanna insisted.

Aviana added, "Yeah, Susanna's allowance is more than that. Let's go, they're waiting downstairs."

Susanna and Aviana each took one of Madison's arms and led her out.

Dahlia and Clementine, still in shock, hurried after them. "Susanna."

In the elevator, Clementine caught up, pretending to rub her arm. "Susanna, you walk too fast."

Dahlia added, "Yeah, Clementine has leg issues. She got treatment at a top hospital but relies on her daughter."

Susanna found their complaints amusing, but Madison was concerned. "Mom, did you take the medicine I sent? It was from a top hospital."

"I did, but it only helps a bit. It's expensive. How can I keep affording it?"

"Mom, if you need more, just tell me. I'll buy it," Madison reassured.

Clementine sighed, "But if you go to Novaria, how will you send it to me?"

Dahlia quickly added, "Yeah, international shipping is expensive, almost as much as the medicine."

Susanna suddenly looked at them. "How do you both know so much about shipping costs??"

"Susanna, your cousin works in the courier industry now, so he knows a lot about shipping."

'So that's how he found out where Madison lives. What a mistake,' Susanna thought.

The mother-daughter chat in the elevator hinted at them asking Madison for money.

Susanna brushed it off, knowing Madison was sincere and unaware of the hints.

Dahlia and Clementine were left awkwardly silent.

Dahlia eyed Madison's bracelet enviously. A hundred-thousand-dollar bracelet—if only it were hers.

The elevator doors opened, and they walked out.

Susanna led Madison, ignoring Dahlia and Clementine.

Outside, six cars were parked.

Susanna's five brothers got out and walked towards Madison. "Hey, Madison."

"You guys look more handsome every time I see you," Madison said, smiling.

Dahlia perked up. "Susanna, are these your brothers? They're really handsome."

Madison proudly said, "Not only are they handsome, but they're also successful."

"Of course, with Susanna's allowance, her brothers must be making even more. Are they single?" Dahlia asked.

Susanna rolled her eyes. "Let's go, I'm starving."

"Susanna, ride with me!"

"No, come with me!"

"Join me for a ride!"

Except for Edward, the brothers looked at each other with disdain.

Susanna quickly said, "Dahlia, you guys ride in this car." She didn't want Dahlia and Clementine near her brothers.

An hour later, they arrived at the restaurant.

Dahlia and Clementine were surprised by the upscale place. "This must be expensive," they said.

Susanna, holding Madison's hand, said, "It's okay, Madison likes the food here."

Clementine asked, "How much does a meal here cost? I might bring my grandson next time."

Susanna replied, "Not much, just a few thousand dollars."

"A few thousand? That's what my son makes in a month," Dahlia said.

Susanna smirked, "We'll look forward to your treat next time."

Dahlia's smile froze. She couldn't afford such extravagance. Spending a few thousand on a meal was too much for her.

During the meal, Dahlia and Clementine sat on either side of Madison, chatting and reminiscing.

Susanna saw Madison's long-lost smile. She knew Madison still longed for family, even if they took advantage of her. If it made Madison happy, so be it.

Suddenly, Dahlia asked Susanna, "Are your brothers all single?"

Susanna hesitated. "I'm not sure."

"Your cousin is stunning. She'd be a perfect match for your brothers, don't you think?"

Susanna's mouth twitched. "No, I don't think so."."

"Once we become family, we'll be even closer," Dahlia said.

Susanna saw through Dahlia's intentions. Her cousin had been trouble since middle school. No way she was a match for her respectable brothers.

Aviana chuckled, "Absolutely not a good fit. Their backgrounds are worlds apart!"

Susanna couldn't help but laugh and gave a thumbs up in agreement.
