Chapter 469 He Had a Bold Guess in His Heart
At that moment, Aaron had a wild hunch.
Sam paused for a sec. "If it's not Lillian, then who is it?"
"The latter part."
"How could she be so sure your bone marrow would be a match?"
After Sam said that, he had a lightbulb moment and got all hyped. "Aaron, you saying Susanna's got another kid?"
Aaron nodded, looking all conflicted. "Yep, she's got another kid stashed away."
"Aaron, even if Susanna had another kid with someone else, how could she be sure it would be a bone marrow match with you?"
After Sam finished talking, the car went dead silent.
Aaron shot a cold stare at Sam.
Sam gulped. "What's up?"
The secretary in the passenger seat chimed in, "Maybe Mrs. Abbott was carrying twins from the get-go."
Sam suddenly got it. "Oh man, why didn't I think of that?"
Aaron said coldly, "Because you're slow."
"Aaron, chill out. Didn't you know Susanna was pregnant back then? You even thought she was carrying some other dude's kid and wanted her to get an abortion. You didn't know she was having twins?"
That hit hard.
Aaron yanked at his tie. "I wasn't paying that much attention back then."
He had all these misunderstandings about Susanna, thinking she was just a gold-digger.
Sam was kinda smug. "Aaron, if you had another shot, would you still ask for a divorce back then?"
Aaron said quietly, "If I could go back, I wouldn't have saved you when you fell into the sea at ten."
Sam quickly cut in, "No way, man, that's harsh!"
Aaron looked at the secretary. "Dig up how many kids Susanna actually had and if there are any other kids in the Jones family."
If Susanna really had two kids, there'd be some clues in the Jones family.
Sam kept going, "Aaron, what's the game plan now? If the Jones family finds out you didn't get on that plane, they'll definitely send hitmen after you again. Can you stick around until the truth comes out?"
Aaron's tone was super calm. "Set up a meeting with Owen; I can lock in the time now."
In Philly, the Jones family didn't run the show completely!
The President of Philly, Owen Richardson, always had beef with the Jones family, keeping a tricky balance.
So, he could team up with Owen.
Meanwhile, Susanna had just gotten home and suddenly felt a pounding in her temples.
She had a bad feeling.
"Susanna, you're back?"
Susanna looked up and saw Edward chilling on the sofa. "Edward, why are you home so early today?"
Susanna remembered the lawyer team serving legal papers to Kayle and Roman in the afternoon.
Since the lawyers had met Aaron, it meant Edward also knew Aaron was in Philly.
Otherwise, workaholic Edward wouldn't be home this early.
Feeling guilty, Susanna coughed and walked over to the sofa.
Edward had a stern look. "Susanna, when did Aaron get to Philly? Why didn't you tell me? You even let him stay by your side as a bodyguard? You all kept me in the dark!"
"Edward, let me explain. I kept Aaron around as a bodyguard just to mess with him. I mean, Daniel scared off all of Aaron's secretaries and bodyguards. The guy was broke and had no choice but to stick around Philly. How could I pass up a chance to mock him?"
Susanna added, "It was just for kicks, nothing more. I definitely don't have any leftover feelings for Aaron."
"Really?"
"Of course, Edward, I swear. Plus, I kept Aaron in Philly because Charles's treatment wasn't going as smooth as we hoped. He hasn't fully recovered yet, and I thought we might still need Aaron, so I let him stay in Philly for a bit."
Susanna tried to look sincere to make Edward buy her story.
Edward kept pushing, "If that's the case, why didn't you tell me Aaron was in Philly? I could've locked him up somewhere so he couldn't go anywhere."
Feeling the heat, Susanna broke into a cold sweat. She quickly responded, "Edward, you know how Aaron is. I've always kept the bone marrow thing from him. He doesn't know the sick person isn't Lillian but Charles. If you do that, Aaron will definitely get suspicious."
"Let him be suspicious. Even if he is, what can he do? In Philly, if I want him dead, he's dead."
"Edward, no matter what, he's still Charles and Lillian's biological father. I don't want anything bad to happen to him."
Susanna was clear-headed now; she definitely didn't have lingering feelings for Aaron. Keeping Aaron in Philly was all for Charles's sake.
"Alright, then Aaron's lucky this time. I'll let him off for now."
Hearing this, Susanna's heart raced. "Edward, what did you do to Aaron?"
Did Edward act so fast?
"Nothing much, just sent some assassins to have a chat with him, to make sure he doesn't show up in front of you again."
Susanna gasped, knowing things definitely weren't as simple as he made it sound.
She cautiously asked, "What's the situation now?"
"Aaron got wind of it early and knew I would send assassins after him, so he immediately bought the nearest flight and left Philly. He was quick; otherwise, I would've made sure he left with a deep impression, knowing Philly isn't a place he can come to as he pleases."
Hearing that Aaron had bought a ticket to leave, Susanna breathed a sigh of relief.
Aaron wasn't dumb; he knew to bail once he realized he was being hunted.
Edward, with a stern face, said, "Susanna, I've got to call you out on this."
Before he could finish, Lillian ran in, her sweet voice filling the room, "I'm back! Look at the picture I drew today; the teacher praised me for it."
Lillian ran straight into Edward's arms and showed him the picture.
Edward, who had a stern face just moments ago, softened up when facing Lillian. Looking at the picture, he said, "It's very good. Your teacher has a good eye."
Lillian nodded. "Yeah, I told the teacher that Charles will be going to school soon, so I introduced him to some friends. That way, Charles won't be lonely when he goes to school."
Susanna was touched by these words.
With Lillian around, Edward finally stopped grilling Susanna about Aaron.
However, before dinner, Edward got a message from his secretary: [Aaron didn't take that flight. He's still in Philly.]
