Chapter 424 What Exactly Happened Last Night

Susanna's memory was all over the place; she kinda remembered hitching a ride back to Harmony Hill Villa.

How she ended up in her bedroom, took off her makeup, and changed clothes? Total blank.

Man, drinking really messes with your head.

Aaron glanced over at the walk-in closet, a slight smirk on his lips. He still thought Susanna was way more chill when she was knocked out!

Soon enough, Susanna came out in fresh clothes. She spotted Aaron lounging on the sofa, still rocking yesterday's bodyguard getup, sleeves rolled up, showing off those strong forearms.

Aaron was seriously good-looking. Even without a fancy suit, just in a regular work uniform, he had that classy vibe.

Aaron turned to her. "Think I'm good-looking?"

Susanna snapped out of it. "Mr. Abbott, duh, you're handsome. You should be in Hollywood, not doing business."

"Marcus knocked earlier; probably got some work stuff for you."

"Probably about last night's party."

Susanna didn't waste time and headed to the living room. She saw Marcus waiting. "What's up?"

"Ms. Jones, about last night, our digging shows Mr. Ashton got real tight with the Thornberry family after coming back, like best buds."

"Birds of a feather, huh?"

Susanna was confused. Why was the Thornberry family so sure she'd marry into their clan?

"Ms. Jones, that girl called the cops, but Mr. Ashton's family is pushing for a private deal. If our people weren't still at the hospital, she'd probably be under their thumb by now."

Thinking about last night, Susanna's eyes went cold. "Send a lawyer. If she needs help, let the lawyer handle it."

"Ms. Jones, if we do that, the Ashton family will come after you."

Susanna leaned back, eyes full of sarcasm. "Let them come. How dare they mess with me?"

She'd been in Radiant Valley and Lindwell for a bit, and in just a few days away, someone dared to cross her!

She wanted that girl to win, to show the Ashton and Thornberry families she wasn't to be messed with.

"Why's the Thornberry family messing with you?"

Aaron walked over, looking annoyed. He'd heard the whole thing.

Susanna raised an eyebrow. "Don't you know? The Thornberry family claims they're about to team up with the Abbott family to become the richest in Novaria. Where else would they get their confidence?"

Aaron frowned. "I didn't know. Their deals with Abbott Group's branches are just small stuff."

"So, Mr. Abbott, wanna head back to Lindwell to check?"

Aaron looked down at her, eyes narrowing. "Trying to get me out of Novaria? Not happening."

"When are you leaving then? Planning to stick around as my bodyguard, being called a broke guy?"

Susanna thought taking Aaron to the business party last night would make him bail.

Aaron saw right through her and said calmly, "If you want me gone, it's simple: let me see Lillian get better."

Hearing him bring up Lillian, Susanna snapped to attention. "Lillian's treatment is about to kick off. Once she's better, I'll let you know."

"Susanna, Lillian's my daughter. I'm sticking around to see her get better."

Aaron's face was dead serious. "I couldn't be there for you back then, so now that Lillian's sick, there's no way I'm leaving her side."

Susanna looked at Aaron, lost for words. She awkwardly stood up, but suddenly her vision blurred, and her head felt like it was being stabbed with needles.

"What's wrong with you?"

Aaron stepped forward and caught Susanna in his arms. Seeing her pale face, he immediately turned to Scarlett nearby. "Get the family doctor."

Scarlett nodded and rushed off. Marcus, standing nearby, had a complicated look. Did Aaron really not see himself as an outsider?

Susanna pushed Aaron away awkwardly. "I'm fine, just a bit dizzy, probably from drinking too much last night."

"With your status, you don't need to drink to fit in with those people."

Susanna sat on the sofa and glanced at him. "But last night's business banquet was different for me."

She wasn't just some leisurely heiress.

Soon, the family doctor arrived and checked her out. "Ms. Jones is fine. The dizziness is likely from a hangover."

Marcus hesitated. Was Susanna's old issue flaring up again? But with Aaron here, Marcus didn't feel comfortable speaking up.

Susanna glanced at Aaron. "See, I told you it's nothing."

Aaron's frown eased a bit. "Maybe some breakfast will help."

After heading to the dining room and sitting down, Susanna looked at Aaron, who had followed her, and suddenly smirked. "By the way, Marcus, where do bodyguards usually eat?"

Marcus replied calmly, "In the designated dining area for the staff."

Hearing this, Susanna propped her chin and looked at Aaron with a half-smile. "Aaron, go have your meal."

Aaron stayed cool and left the dining room.

Susanna thought Aaron would be pissed, but he stayed calm, determined to wait for Lillian's treatment to start.

But she had been lying to Aaron; the one getting treatment wasn't Lillian but Charles.

Would she really have to make Lillian pretend in the hospital for Aaron?

At that moment, Marcus walked over and whispered, "Ms. Jones, was your headache just now an old issue? Should we have the doctor check it?"

Susanna thought of the strange yet familiar dreams she had last night and nodded. "Set it up, I'll go later."

"But Mr. Abbott is here too. Should we find a way to send him off?"

"No need."

Aaron already knew about her amnesia.

After breakfast, Susanna saw Aaron coming out of the kitchen. "Mr. Abbott, how was breakfast?"

Aaron replied calmly, "It was okay."

Unexpectedly, Aaron could keep his cool.

Aaron walked up to her and asked, "When does Lillian's treatment start? I want to see her."

"Actually, Lillian's treatment has already started, and everything's going well. Edward and Aviana are taking turns watching over her in the hospital. If you show up and they find out, what do you think will happen to you?"

Susanna's eyes were a bit guilty. She definitely couldn't let Aaron see the treatment process, or it would blow her cover.

Aaron's tone was firm. "I'll deal with the consequences myself. Anyway, I'm not leaving until I see Lillian get better."

Susanna was so mad she might explode. "Aaron, you're just a small-time bodyguard now. Don't get cocky!"

"Susanna, don't think I don't know what you're hiding."
