Chapter 192 She's About to Start Fighting Back

Austin gingerly picked up the phone, not wanting to wake Susanna.

He stepped outside, puzzled about the guy with the creepy note.

Austin hesitated, not wanting to answer, but the phone kept ringing. Finally, he picked up. "Hello, who is this?"

On the other end, Aaron recognized Austin's voice and his mood darkened. "Austin?"

"Aaron?"

Austin was shocked to hear from Aaron. Susanna's note was dead on!

Tensions flared instantly.

Austin sneered, "How dare you call?"

Aaron, furious, demanded, "Where's Susanna? Put her on!"

He was worried she might stumble and fall. He'd been chasing her for half a day, amazed at how fast a pregnant woman could run. Now, it seemed she had someone to help her—a little lover to come to her rescue.

Aaron deeply regretted worrying so much earlier!

Austin said coldly, "Who do you think you are, demanding Susanna? Let me tell you, Aaron, stay away from her, or I won't be polite!"

If it weren't for Susanna, he would've already told Edward about this.

"This ain't Novaria, it's Lindwell. Austin, you're coming on a bit strong. I'll tell you one more time, let Susanna pick up the damn phone," Aaron stated.

His tone was dripping with arrogance yet confidence. While the Jones family held sway in Novaria, here in Lindwell, Aaron called the shots.

Austin's face turned sullen. "Aaron, what right do you have to say that?"

"Because she's still my wife!" Aaron declared firmly.

Austin was furious, stating coldly, "Aaron, Susanna is pregnant. What you're doing will only hurt her!"

It would be better to let go and divorce sooner, letting Susanna return to Novaria with them.

Aaron's lips tightened. "That's not for you to decide. Even if Susanna is pregnant, she's still my wife. I advise you to hand her over quickly!"

"Impossible!" Austin flatly denied, adding, "Aaron, even if this is Lindwell, we, the Jones family from Novaria, aren't afraid of you! If you dare to harm Susanna, we will take you down without hesitation!"

"Then we'll see! In Lindwell, there's no one I can't find!" Aaron said.

Austin's expression turned icy. "I forgot to remind you of one thing. Mrs. Maria Abbott is still in the ICU. Anything could happen. As the chief surgeon, I hold the most intimate knowledge of her condition. If you even contemplate laying a finger on Susanna, I suggest you reconsider your actions very carefully!"

Aaron's complexion drained of color. "Are you trying to intimidate me?"

"Yes, I am issuing a threat. The Jones family from Novaria is not someone you want to cross paths with!" Austin declared firmly before abruptly ending the call. He had full confidence that the Jones family would safeguard Susanna at all costs.

At this point, even if Susanna found out their identities, it couldn't be helped. They had to protect Susanna and her unborn child.

After being hung up on, Aaron's face was icy, exuding an aura that warned others to stay away.

Finally, he looked at his assistant. "Have you found her?"

"Not yet, but we have people stationed at Mrs. Abbott's school and home. As soon as she appears, we'll find her," Tyler reported.

"Forget it, pull everyone back."

Tyler was a bit puzzled, but seeing his boss's expression, he could only comply.

What a mess.

Tyler, adhering to the principle of being responsible for the money he received, braced himself and said, "Boss, there's something I don't know if I should say."

"Go ahead."

"I don't think Mrs. Abbott is that kind of person. With today's tech, a DNA test to determine the parentage of her child would be a piece of cake."

Tyler glanced cautiously at Aaron.

Aaron couldn't resist lighting a cigarette. He took a puff, then set it aside, the smoke veiling his expression.

He thought about how Austin had defended Susanna earlier. Was a DNA test really necessary?

In the end, Aaron stayed silent. The cigarette felt unusually harsh on his throat today.

Susanna had a terrifying nightmare. In her dream, as she fled the hospital, Aaron's men tracked her down and dragged her back. She was immediately taken to a operating room.

No matter how much she pleaded, no matter how much she explained that the child was his, Aaron never turned back.

In the end, she lay numbly on the operating table, watching her child leave her.

"No!"

Susanna woke up, her face streaked with tears. She looked around the unfamiliar apartment room and sighed in relief.

She gently placed her hand on her abdomen, realizing it was just a nightmare. Aaron hadn't found her.

Soon, there was a cautious knock on the door. "Susanna?"

"Brian?"

Susanna recognized Brian's voice. The next second, he pushed the door open and walked in, looking guilty.

"Susanna, did you have a nightmare?" Brian asked softly. He had been crouched by the bedroom door, unsure whether to enter or leave.

It wasn't until he heard Susanna's terrified voice that he realized how much his unreliability had hurt her.

Susanna didn't want to talk about the nightmare. She changed the subject. "Where's Austin?"

"He had an emergency at the hospital. Susanna, don't worry. This time, I'll stay with you and never leave. I swear, this kind of situation will never happen again because of those women," Brian said.

Susanna looked at him. "Brian, you don't have to do this. This has nothing to do with you."

What she cared about now wasn't Dick and Harper, but Aaron finding out she was pregnant.

She didn't know if Austin had told Brian about this. She hoped Austin would keep it a secret.

Brian's eyes welled with tears. Susanna held no grudge against him. Earlier, he had feared Susanna's reaction, unable to meet her eyes after Austin's stern words.

But Susanna didn't blame him!

Brian wiped his eyes and said coldly, "Susanna, don't worry. I'll make sure Dick and Harper pay for making you fall so badly."

Susanna thought of how badly Dick had been beaten by Aaron's people. She pursed her lips. "There's no rush. I'll handle it myself."

Aaron's assault was a fact. Despite the Abbott family's formidable legal team, the repercussions of this revelation could also impact the Abbott Group.

She needed to secure leverage, at least until Austin's immigration paperwork was finalized.

Brian reluctantly agreed, but his anger lingered. He knew he had to find a way to confront Dick. The spark of an idea ignited when he heard about Dick's new establishment, Epic Horizon.

Susanna suddenly said, "Brian, I'm hungry. I want to eat from that restaurant we went to last time."

"Okay, I'll call them right away."

After Brian left the room, Susanna took out her phone and called Dick directly.
