Chapter 160 I I Enjoy Observing Her Reactions
Susanna dropped the document in front of Erica deliberately just so that Erica, that bitch, could see it.
Anyway, Susanna was in a bad mood now, so no one else should be happy either!
Now that Maria was having surgery, what did she have to worry about?
When Maud saw the document on the ground, her expression changed instantly. "Susanna, why are you tossing things around? Pick it up right now."
What if Erica saw it?
"Oh, sure."
Susanna deliberately picked it up slowly, showing the front page clearly to Erica, and then gave Erica a smug smile.
Erica's expression shifted abruptly. "Aunt Maud, what does this document mean?"
Susanna smirked, "Do you really have to ask? You did finish kindergarten, right? This is a document Grandma Maria specifically brought out for us to sign before her surgery. It states that the child I have will inherit the Abbott Group. Any other woman's child can take a back seat."
After she finished speaking, she really saw Erica's face turn all shades like a palette, looking quite comical.
Erica was so eager to marry into the Abbott family. If she found out about this document, she'd probably be so furious that she'd feel like spitting fire at night.
Soon, Susanna felt an intense gaze on her, seemingly coming from Aaron. She calmly met Aaron's eyes, her own gaze unwavering and direct.
Now that Maria's surgery had already started, she had no worries at all and wasn't afraid in the slightest.
Since Erica and Maud made her unhappy, she would make them even unhappier.
Although Susanna wasn't interested in this heir document, she just didn't want to see these two women flaunting themselves.
Aaron's eyes narrowed slightly, but he said nothing.
Maud explained hurriedly, "Erica, don't misunderstand. This document isn't real."
Deliberately turning to the page with Aaron's signature, Susanna asserted, 'It's signed, how can it not be real?
Maud shouted, "Susanna, this document is based on you having a child, but you're not pregnant. It's a lie to coax Grandma Maria into agreeing to the surgery."
Elaine nodded in agreement. "Yes, Susanna, you're not pregnant at all. This document is useless to you. Do you really think you can trick Aaron into having a child with you?"
Maud pointed at Susanna's nose and scolded, "Susanna, stop dreaming. Aaron will never have a child with you. Even if you sign it, it's useless. Give it up."
Observing Maud's accusatory gesture, Susanna firmly tapped her finger with the document. "If you wish to speak, refrain from pointing at others. It's impolite. While I hadn't intended to sign initially, considering your collective insistence, would it not be discourteous to decline now?"
Maud was trembling with anger. "Aaron, did you see that? This is Susanna's true nature. Don't be fooled by her."
Erica's eyes lit up, and she pretended to be vulnerable. "Mrs. Miller, Maud didn't mean it that way. How could you hit her? She's your mother-in-law!"
Susanna didn't care at all. "Sorry, that's just how I am. I have a bad temper and don't reason much."
As she spoke, she looked up at Aaron indifferently, showing no concern.
Everyone looked at Aaron, waiting for him to say something.
Aaron spoke, his voice cutting through the tension. "This document bears Grandma's seal. Her decisions are beyond reproach. The operation has commenced, and I have no time for further delay here."
After saying this, Aaron walked towards the operating room directly.
Susanna found it a bit surprising that Aaron remained silent, which was quite unusual. Typically, he would have sided with Erica and placed all the blame on her.
She had prepared herself mentally, but Aaron's reaction surprised her.
Not only was Susanna surprised, but Maud and Erica were also shocked. Susanna was so arrogant just now, and he didn't mind?
Susanna didn't want to waste time with these two either and walked towards the operating room.
Maud gritted her teeth. "Come on. We should go too."
But after a few steps, they were stopped by a bodyguard. "Mrs. Abbott, boss had instructed that no unrelated persons are allowed near the operating room."
Erica was furious but held back in front of Maud, only able to say pitifully, "Aunt Maud, what was that document Susanna had?"
"Erica, don't worry. Susanna isn't pregnant, so the document is useless. Besides, after the surgery, it will be time for their divorce cooling-off period. Once the divorce is finalized, they will have no relationship," Maud responded.
Erica felt much relieved after hearing Maud's words.
As long as Susanna wasn't pregnant, the document was just a piece of waste paper.
Maud coaxed Erica to wait downstairs, but Elaine was a bit suspicious. Allison had messaged her some time ago saying Susanna was pregnant and had solid evidence.
But she couldn't reach Allison afterward, as if she had disappeared.
Could it be that Allison was lying and felt guilty, so she didn't dare to answer the phone?
But Elaine still found Susanna's words strange. If Susanna was secretly pregnant and signed the document unexpectedly, wouldn't the Abbott family be under Susanna's control in the future?
'Susanna would definitely mistreat me in the future.'
Elaine thought she had to find out if Susanna was pregnant!
Meanwhile, Susanna arrived outside the operating room, looking at the flashing red light, feeling very anxious.
Although Susanna believed Austin would take care of everything inside, she was still very worried.
After all, surgery was an unpredictable risk.
No one knew what unexpected situations might occur during the surgery.
Susanna sat on a chair, silently praying for a smooth surgery.
Before long, someone sat next to her. It was Aaron, with a laptop on his long legs, seemingly working.
They were very close, their arms occasionally brushing against each other.
Feeling slightly uneasy, Susanna subtly shifted her position, putting a bit of distance between them.
Aaron noticed her movement from the corner of his eye and narrowed his eyes slightly. "What? Being close to me makes you that uncomfortable?"
Susanna was annoyed by his words and turned to look at him. "Being so close to a man and a woman alone can easily cause gossip."
"Are you afraid of gossip, or are you afraid of being seen by someone?" Aaron retorted.
Thinking of Austin in surgery only added to his frustration. Susanna purposefully maintained her distance, a clear indication that Austin was the reason for her behavior.
'Why does she choose Austin?' he wondered.
The Jones family in Novaria was a big family, and their situation was even more complicated than the Abbott family!
If Susanna married into the Jones family, she would definitely be bullied by the elders there.
