Chapter 138 Mr. Abbott Was Stimulated Again

After discussing the situation with his two brothers, Justin decided they would no longer pretend to be poor.

They needed to find a way to gradually rise up and become people Susanna could rely on.

Brian and Daniel nodded in agreement. "Susanna, we are wealthy now. Arthur's company is on the verge of a successful public offering and will ensure our family's financial stability. Moving forward, you can purchase whatever you desire without worrying about your finances."

Susanna was so moved that she didn't know what to say. "I must work even harder to become a famous designer so I won't let you down."

Justin's eyes welled up with emotion when he heard that. They had wanted their sister to depend on them, but they hadn't anticipated her diligence and ambition!

He was deeply moved. Their sister was truly diligent and adorable.

In the evening, Edward, Arthur, and Austin returned as well. Susanna personally cooked to celebrate with her brothers.

Susanna raised her glass in a toast. "Today, I offer a toast with tea instead of wine, wishing each of you prosperity and success in the near future."

Although Edward was a bit upset that his cousins had acted on their own, seeing Susanna so happy made him question whether hiding his identity all this time had been the right choice.

Aviana took her hand. "Susanna, leave the task of getting rich to your brothers. You just need to spend money like me. Don't work so hard; you are a princess of the Jones family too."

Edward quickly nodded." That's right, Susanna. When you come back to Novaria with us, you won't need to work so hard anymore."

Justin pulled out a card and handed it to Susanna. "Here, Susanna. There's enough money on this card to pay off the mortgage. Money is the least of my concerns right now."

The others also handed over a card. "Susanna, this a token of affection from us. Just accept it."

As Susanna gazed at the six bank cards in front of her, she was at a loss for words. After a brief moment of contemplation, she graciously accepted them all, saying, "Well then, I won't refuse your generosity."

She knew her brothers wanted to make it up to her, and if she didn't accept the cards, they would feel bad.

In fact, she no longer minded the past since she had truly embraced the reality of having brothers.

At night, after washing up and resting, Susanna took out the six bank cards. As she remembered Erica bragging about having brothers, she took a photo and posted it on social media with the caption: [Life's ultimate goal: Work hard today, become a rich little lady tomorrow.]

Susanna smiled slightly, content in the knowledge that she now had brothers who would support and care for her.

At that moment, Aaron had just finished a meeting. As he browsed social media, he accidentally saw the picture Susanna had posted. He paused and clicked on the image, as if driven by some impulse.

Aaron's face turned paled when he saw the caption. He wondered when Susanna had become so superficial.

He suddenly saw a comment from his grandmother: [Well said.]

Aaron felt even more frustrated when he saw that.

Aaron's grandmother called. Annoyed, he adjusted his tie and answered the phone. "Hello, Grandma."

"Aaron, I didn't expect you to be considerate so suddenly."

Aaron frowned. "What do you mean?"

"I just saw the picture Susanna posted. Those cards are from you, right? Now that Susanna is pregnant, you need to pamper her more. Susanna isn't a materialistic girl, but every woman likes surprises from her husband," Maria said.

Aaron was so furious when he heard that that he yanked off his tie.

Aaron thought inwardly, 'Grandmother thinks that the bank cards in Susanna's photo are from me! Susanna is simply out of control; I need to have a talk with her.'

"Aaron, I believe in you. Keep it up."

Aaron felt he didn't need this kind of encouragement from his grandmother; it was like another stab to his heart.

He left the study with his phone, looking at the familiar surroundings of the villa. Everything seemed the same, but it lacked the presence of a certain someone.

Returning to the bedroom, he took out his phone and messaged Susanna: [What did you post on social media?]

Meanwhile, Susanna had just finished washing up and was ready to go to bed happily when she suddenly received a message from Aaron with a questioning tone.

She was momentarily stunned when she saw Aaron's message.

'Haven't we deleted each other's contacts?'

Susanna remembered that she had re-added Aaron's number to return the three thousand dollars that her adoptive mother had taken, but he still hadn't accepted the money.

But what was with his tone?

Susanna replied coldly: [If you don't understand, just ignore it.]

Aaron: [Who gave you those six bank cards?]

Susanna: [Six different men, obviously.]

When Aaron read that, he suddenly recalled the men he had encountered in the hospital room that day, who seemed to be from the Jones family.

He felt something was off and was about to call Susanna, but accidentally pressed the video call button instead.

Susanna thought she must be mistaken when she saw the video call.

During their three years of marriage, Aaron had rarely replied to her messages, let alone initiated a video call.

However, she remembered what happened when she had been kidnapped; if Aaron hadn't arrived in time, she couldn't imagine what might have happened.

Taking a deep breath, she answered, "Hello, what's up?"

Aaron was momentarily stunned to see Susanna on the other end of the video. He hadn't expected her to accept the call.

He saw Susanna leaning against the headboard, wearing a camisole nightgown. Her hair was damp, as if she had just come out of the shower.

His gaze deepened as it fell on her nightgown. "Don't you know why I'm calling you?"

"If you don't tell me, how would I know?" Susanna retorted.

"Susanna, I didn't expect your values to be so skewed."

Susanna felt a twinge of discomfort when she heard that. "Oh, are you just realizing that now? I have always appreciated appearances. Otherwise, why would I have been attracted to you back then?"

Aaron was momentarily speechless at her words.

After a long pause, he finally spoke, "What about now?"

Susanna looked incredulously at the man on the other end of the phone. Aaron's features were still incredibly handsome, even with the unflattering front-facing camera.

She pursed her lips, her expression a bit unnatural. "What do you mean, now?"

"Didn't you just say you liked me?" Aaron asked.

"Oh, that was in the past. After all, there are plenty of men out there; if one doesn't work out, I can always find another."

Aaron's heart was pricked again as he questioned himself, 'Is her view on love really so twisted that she can just stop liking someone?'

Silence fell between them, creating a slightly awkward atmosphere.

Aaron changed the subject. "Susanna, what exactly is your relationship with Austin now?"
