Chapter 504 Edward, Don't Get Excited Yet

Susanna caught the killer vibe in Edward's eyes and grabbed his hand quick. "Don't do anything crazy!"

She knew Edward always had her back.

Whenever stuff went down, Edward was the first to step up for her.

"Edward, you don't need to deal with this. I got it. Let me handle this small fry. You focus on the big stuff with Emerald Island."

Seeing her so stubborn, Edward sighed. "Susanna, I can take care of these jerks for you."

"Edward, I know you mean well, but these little things aren't worth your time."

"Alright, but if Vivian crosses the line, just tell me. I can still handle one person in Philly."

"I know, but making Vivian disappear just like that would be too easy on her."

Susanna didn't want to pile more on Edward's plate.

He was already swamped with work. Now, with the Emerald Island mess, Owen would definitely use it to put more pressure on Edward, making his workload even crazier.

Vivian's small-time drama? Susanna could handle it herself.

Edward frowned, not wanting to agree.

Susanna tugged on his arm. "Edward, please."

Edward's frown finally eased, and he said, "Instead of wasting time on this, why not take a vacation, see the aurora, or go surfing?"

"Edward, I'm over those trips. I need to settle things with Vivian myself."

"Wouldn't it be the same if I handled it for you?"

"It's not the same. All these years, you've been worried Aaron would find me, so I've kept a low profile. Everyone thinks I'm just a lazy target. This is my chance to show them the Jones family isn't weak."

Edward finally nodded. "Alright, as you wish. If you need people or money, just let me know."

"Okay, Edward."

Truth is, Susanna wasn't short on cash now. Over the years, she had secretly started several companies and projects, making a good amount.

After their chat, they went back to the hall for dinner.

The next day, Susanna saw the headline news about people from Emerald Island getting thrown in prison, and it was all over the place.

Emerald Island first put out a statement accusing Philly of unfairly locking up their people and hinted that the research institute had some shady backing, demanding an explanation.

Emerald Island really knew how to play the victim card.

Hinting that the research institute had backing made it seem like the institute was shady, which is why they called the cops to detain Emerald Island's people without reason.

Classic Emerald Island move.

Susanna immediately called her secretary and ordered, "Where's the video we have? Get the PR team to release it now. We can't let Emerald Island control the narrative."

Emerald Island dared to talk big online, thinking there was no proof or that the institute couldn't afford to mess with them and would settle quietly.

Maybe in the past, Emerald Island could pull these stunts, but this time, they messed with the wrong person.

Soon enough, the video hit the web.

Betsy's cocky words spread like wildfire, causing a massive uproar. The views shot up, and people were pissed.

By the time Emerald Island realized they were in deep trouble, it was too late.

Public opinion had totally flipped, and everyone was going after Betsy.

Comments were flooding in.

[The royal family’s been gone for ages, but they still act all high and mighty.]

[Yeah, Emerald Island still thinks they’re hot stuff. I worked with someone from there once, and even a low-level manager had their nose in the air, let alone someone important.]

[Exactly, finally someone’s showing Emerald Island’s true colors. They always look down on us, claiming to be royal descendants, thinking we’re not worth their time.]

[Come on, it's the 21st century!. If Emerald Island breaks the law in Philly, they should face the consequences.]

[Get Owen to deal with this mess ASAP.]

Soon, Susanna saw the public opinion shift towards Owen, with everyone waiting for him to make a move.

After all, Owen had recently laid down some legal regulations, and now Betsy from Emerald Island was blatantly breaking them.

Honestly, Susanna was curious about how Owen would handle this.

Since Owen had been cozying up to people from Emerald Island lately, it meant he was looking to work more with them.

Now, with this mess, the folks from Emerald Island would definitely run to Owen first, asking him to fix it.

But Owen had just laid down those laws. If he sided with Emerald Island, he’d be going against his own rules, basically making himself look like a fool.

If Owen chose to stay out of it, given Emerald Island’s arrogant nature, they’d definitely not keep working with him.

Susanna felt a bit of schadenfreude.

Owen must be in a tight spot now, with Emerald Island definitely breathing down his neck.

Soon, her secretary told her that someone was trying to quietly squash the issue, but Betsy’s arrogant remarks had too much impact, and no one could bury it even if they wanted to.

Plus, Susanna had specifically told her secretary to keep the news at the top, keeping the heat on.

She wasn’t going to let Emerald Island off easy and wanted to make sure Owen learned his lesson this time.

Susanna was in a good mood, but then she got a call from Amelia.

Seeing Amelia’s name, Susanna guessed it had to do with Owen, and maybe Amelia had already made a decision.

Susanna picked up, "What’s up?"

"Susanna, are you free this afternoon? I’d like to invite you for some coffee."

"I’m free this morning. Just tell me where, and I’ll be there."

After hanging up, Susanna figured Amelia had something important to discuss. At times like this, even if she had plans, she had to act like she didn’t.

Susanna went to the café they agreed on and saw Amelia, wearing sunglasses, hurrying over with a clearly upset look.

They found a quiet corner and sat down.

Amelia took off her glasses, revealing her red, swollen eyes, clearly from crying.

Susanna poured her a glass of water and asked, "What’s wrong?"
