Chapter 166 Are You Jealous of a Woman?
Susanna never thought Erica would accuse her of harassment one day.
"That's just ridiculous!" Susanna laughed.
Erica shot back, "Am I wrong? Who hugged me downstairs, dragged me into the elevator, and pinned me against the wall, not letting me leave?"
Susanna felt her dignity was under attack!
Just as she was about to explain, Aaron grabbed her arm, his face cold and tight-lipped. "Susanna, come with me!"
"Aaron, let go of me first!"
Susanna glanced back at Erica, who wore a smug look. Damn, she got played again!
'What the hell is wrong with Aaron?'
Aaron led her to a nearby corner. She looked up, ready to speak, but Aaron grabbed her chin. "Susanna, you're getting bold. How did I never notice this before?"
Susanna saw Aaron's dark eyes and sneered, "Yeah, I told you before not to judge me by your standards because you might not understand."
Aaron's lips pressed into a thin line. "If Maria knew you liked women, she'd be upset."
Shocked by his statement, Susanna screamed silently in her mind, 'I don't like women at all! My orientation is perfectly normal, okay?'
She laughed, "Fine, since I've been found out, I won't pretend anymore. Yes, I'm bisexual. I suddenly realized that men are no good, and girls are soft, sweet, and more understanding. They're much better than stinky men."
Hearing Susanna's direct admission, Aaron's expression turned ugly. He realized Susanna was mocking him as a stinky man!
Just as Aaron was about to say something, Susanna's phone rang. She saw it was Austin calling and pushed Aaron's hand away. "Excuse me, I have to go."
Aaron glanced at her phone and saw it was Austin. He spoke with some displeasure, "If Austin knew you were bisexual, would he accept it?"
"If Austin doesn't accept it, I'll find someone who does," Susanna shot back.
She blurted out nonsense, then turned and headed down the nearby stairwell, avoiding the elevator and the chance of running into Erica and Maud.
Aaron observed her departure, growing increasingly unsettled. Susanna's involvement with Austin was one matter, but now she seemed to be encroaching on Erica as well. Did she aim to dominate every member of the Jones family?
"Aaron" Erica's pitiful voice called out. She glanced around but didn't see Susanna, probably scurrying away out of guilt.
Aaron turned back with a cold face, looking at Erica's delicate figure, which seemed petite compared to Susanna. Thinking of this, Aaron suddenly found Erica's face particularly annoying.
He said coldly, "Stay away from Susanna from now on. Don't get close to her."
Erica was instantly delighted. "Aaron, I knew you..."
Before she could finish, Aaron abruptly turned and left, leaving Erica alone. Despite this, a sense of contentment washed over her. Aaron's departure must have been a sign of his concern for her well-being!
Erica's smile brightened. She was confident that Aaron wouldn't be interested in a woman like Susanna, who had grown up as an orphan.
Maud walked over at this moment, asking, "Erica, what did Aaron say?"
"He told me to stay away from Susanna. I knew he still cared about me."
Maud smiled knowingly. "Erica, like I said before, Aaron was just being dutiful towards Maria during her surgery, which is why he tolerated Susanna until now. Now that the surgery is done, Susanna will surely be kicked out soon."
Erica's expression turned smug, but then a sudden realization hit her. "But what about Maria's will and the heir agreement?"
Maud said, "Don't worry, Susanna isn't pregnant, so that document is just waste paper."
Erica thought about it and felt much more at ease.
Meanwhile, Susanna met up with Austin downstairs, and they drove home together. Sitting in the passenger seat, Susanna thought about how Erica accused her of harassment. Just thinking about it gave her goosebumps.
Austin, who was driving, carefully observed Susanna's expression, worried that Susanna and Erica might have said something that could reveal his identity.
After a while, Austin asked nervously, "Susanna, what did you two talk about earlier?"
Susanna's expression became a bit unnatural. "Actually, we didn't talk about much. I just took her to see Maria outside the ICU, nothing special."
She couldn't bring herself to tell Austin that Erica had accused her of harassment, could she?
Hearing this, Austin finally sighed in relief. There was nothing to worry about.
"Austin, do you know Erica?"
Austin swallowed and said, "I've seen her a few times at the hospital."
Susanna nodded in understanding. It made sense that Austin had seen Erica at the hospital a few times when she came to visit her brother, who was a brilliant surgeon.
"Susanna, why did you suddenly ask about Erica?" Austin asked.
"Nothing, just out of curiosity. Erica seems to think we're a couple, and Aaron seems to think the same." Susanna smiled helplessly.
Austin started to sweat. "How did you respond?"
If Susanna had said they were siblings, Erica would definitely know.
"I didn't explain anything. Let them misunderstand if they want. I don't care."
A hint of sarcasm flashed in Susanna's eyes. She didn't want to cause trouble for Austin with Erica, and as for Aaron, she simply didn't want to explain.
"Susanna, why don't you tell Aaron and Erica that I'm your brother?"
Seeing Susanna's expression, Austin felt a pang of heartache. He didn't expect Susanna to keep it a secret all this time. He always thought they were just good at acting and hiding it.
Susanna smiled sweetly. "There's no need to tell them. I'm leaving Lindwell for Novaria in a few months. No need to tell these people too much and cause trouble."
"Susanna, are you avoiding trouble, or are you afraid of causing us trouble?"
Austin abruptly comprehended Susanna's implications. It became apparent that Susanna's reticence towards sharing with these parties was a strategic move to avoid entanglement. In a fleeting moment, Austin's gaze tinged with a hint of crimson.
He hadn't anticipated that Susanna had been keeping their identity under wraps all this while, not divulging it to anyone. Austin had been smug, believing he was adept at concealing it.
Susanna said with a sweet smile, "It doesn't make much difference. I just don't want irrelevant people to know too much."
As Susanna offered a knowing smile, Austin felt a lump form in his throat, and he uttered, "Susanna, there's something I need to tell you."
