Chapter 72 Is He Lying?
Susanna waited a moment before Aaron turned around. His slender eyes were red and bloodshot, and he looked like he hadn't slept well.
Susanna immediately panicked. "Could it be that Maria's health is declining?" She turned around after speaking, wanting to rush into the ward.
But Aaron grabbed her wrist and said in a low voice, "It's not because of Maria."
"Then what is it?" Susanna was puzzled. She looked into Aaron's blue eyes, but she couldn't understand what he was thinking.
Aaron coldly said, "There is trouble on Erica's brother's side, so I need to prepare an alternative plan."
"What kind of trouble?" Susanna asked.
Susanna thought to herself, 'Didn't he and Erica get engaged this weekend? They are going to become family. Could Erica's brother be unwilling to help?'
Susanna looked closely at him, seeming to want to see something from his face. But Aaron turned his back to look outside the window and said coldly, "It's not a big deal."
Susanna tightly held the bouquet of daisies in her hand, still not understanding what had happened. He definitely had more to say.
At this time, Taylor walked out of the ward. "Mrs. Susanna, you're here. Mrs. Maria just woke up and mentioned you."
Susanna adjusted her expression and walked into the ward with a smile. "Maria, I'm here to see you."
"Susanna, come closer and let me see you. You've gotten thinner. Has the baby been giving you trouble lately?" Maria asked worryingly.
"No, the baby is very well-behaved," Susanna replied.
Susanna touched her belly. In fact, the baby really was mature. Besides occasional discomfort from being tired from work, she didn't have many pregnancy symptoms.
Maria smiled at her belly, and she said, "Susanna, come sign this document."
Susanna saw a document with a property gift agreement written on it.
She quickly refused. "Maria, I don't want these."
"Susanna, you should keep it. It's my gift for the baby. Just in case something happens to me during this surgery, these will be my care for the baby." Maria insisted.
"Maria, don't say that. This surgery will definitely go smoothly. Aaron found a very skilled doctor. There won't be any problems." Susanna comforted Maria.
"Susanna, if you want me to settle down to do the surgery, then take it. I'm giving it to the baby." Maria said firmly. Then, she forcibly gave Susanna the document.
Aaron walked in from the side and said, "You can take it."
Susanna glanced at him, then accepted the document. She planned to give it to Aaron later when she left. She didn't want anything from the Abbott family.
Maria finally smiled. "Good girl. Aaron, you must take good care of Susanna and the child in the future."
"Grandma, I'm usually busy with work, so you have to supervise me." Aaron looked at Maria, who was gradually aging in front of him, feeling sad in his heart.
Although the Abbott family used to have a lot of power, they felt powerless in the face of death and illness.
Susanna chatted with Maria for a while, making her laugh and feel much more relaxed. However, Maria's spirit was still not very good. She fell asleep shortly afterward.
Susanna left the hospital room and handed Aaron the files directly. Aaron lowered his gaze but didn't take them. "Maria gave these to you."
"These are for your children, but we all know that they don't exist, so I can't take this money," Susanna said calmly.

Aaron didn't take the documents. Susanna turned around and stuffed them into Jimmy's hands before leaving the hospital. She wouldn't take the Abbott family's money; that was her bottom line.
Aaron watched her walk away.
Jimmy swallowed nervously. "Mr. Abbott, what should I do with these documents?"
Aaron glanced at them and coldly said, "Susanna gave them to you. It's up to you."
Jimmy was speechless. He felt like he was holding a hot potato, stuck in a dilemma.

After returning home, Susanna thought about what she had heard at the hospital today about Aaron looking for a new doctor. She was worried about Maria's surgery. She had forgotten to ask about the surgery when she left the hospital earlier.
Susanna remembered that Austin had mentioned knowing some doctors during their previous meeting. She was concerned about Maria's health, so she hoped the surgery would go smoothly and keep Maria healthy.
Susanna called Austin. "Austin, are you busy now?"
"I just finished. What's up?" Austin said.
"Austin, do you remember when I mentioned that an elder relative needs surgery? You said you know many famous doctors, right?" Susanna asked directly.
"Yeah, but didn't you say that your friend found a doctor?" Austin said.
Susanna paused. "Yes, but it seems the doctor is unwilling to come, so they have to find another one."
"I see. No problem. Wait for me to come back and tell me the details about the patient." Austin replied.
"Okay." After hanging up the phone, Susanna breathed a sigh of relief. She hoped the doctor that Austin found could perform the surgery for Maria.
In the evening, Susanna waited for Austin to come home from work. She even made him a plate of tomato pasta as an extra meal. When Austin walked into the house and saw the pasta, his mood instantly became good.
He specifically took a photo, and he is planning to show it off in the chat group later. After all, this was pasta made by Susanna.
Austin washed his hands and sat down. "Susanna, tell me about your friend's elderly relative."
After all, before Austin agreed to perform the surgery, he needed to ask for details.
Susanna explained Maria's situation. She used to be Maria's caregiver, so she knew her medical condition the best.
Austin listened while eating, and finally, his expression turned serious. "This surgery is challenging."

Austin hesitated for a moment. He almost slipped up just now! He quickly explained, "Yes, yes, I know a very talented doctor who specializes in this type of surgery. Don't worry. Your friend's elderly relative will be fine."
"That's a relief," Susanna said. She believed that Austin wouldn't lie to her.
Susanna paused and said, "Austin, may I know who this doctor is and where he is now? Because I'm afraid my friend's elderly relative can't wait any longer."
Austin paused with his fork in hand. "My friend is quite busy. He probably doesn't have much time to see you. But you can give me the medical records, and I will pass them on to him. We can arrange a surgery appointment, and he will personally come to perform the surgery."
