Chapter 172 The Sudden Confession
Susanna didn't expect to run into Dick at the bank. She paused and said, "Just handling some business. What about you, Dick?"
"Uh, same here," Dick replied, looking a bit awkward and not elaborating.
Soon, a staff member in a suit appeared. "Are you both here for loan services?"
Dick answered awkwardly, "I am."
The staff member gave Dick an indifferent look. "Please go sit over there and wait. Ma'am, how can I help you?"
Susanna handed over her number. "I called this morning."
The staff member's expression immediately brightened. "Ms. Miller, right? Please come with me. The manager has been waiting for you."
Susanna was taken aback by the sudden change in attitude. She glanced awkwardly at Dick and followed the staff member to the VIP room.
Dick paused briefly outside, taken aback by the revelation that Susanna held VIP status at the bank. Typically, individuals designated as VIP clients were required to maintain deposits surpassing a million dollars to avail themselves of such privileges.
He was looking to buy a house in Crestview, but all his funds were tied up in Epic Horizon. So, he came to the bank seeking a loan, unsure of how much he could get.
Soon, the staff member in the suit came out and looked at Dick coldly. "Give me your documents."
Dick sat down and handed over a bag with a bit of flattery. "A small gift ."
The staff member returned the bag and said, "Mr. Johnson, to be honest, it's very difficult to approve another loan for you. Maybe you should try another bank."
Dick's expression shifted. "Come on, didn't we have a good conversation last time?"
"Mr. Johnson, the Epic Horizon loan hasn't been fully repaid yet. It's going to be quite challenging to approve another substantial personal loan application," the staff member replied.
Dick felt uncomfortable but didn't want to argue. He cast a glance towards the VIP room.
The staff member immediately asked, "Do you know that woman?"
Dick's eyes lit up. "Yeah, not only do we know each other, but we're also alumni. And she currently works at Epic Horizon."
"Wow, that's impressive, having her on board at your company. Bro, why not consider asking her to invest instead of going for a bank loan?"
Dick asked, "What business is she handling at the bank?"
"Paying off her mortgage early, several million dollars. The money was transferred to her account last night, and she's here today to handle the early repayment. Rich people are different, huh? They can pull out millions of dollars in cash anytime," the staff said.
Upon hearing this, Dick's mind raced with a bold idea. The woman he had gone on a blind date with the previous day had noticeably cooled off when she learned he didn't own a house in Crestview. So he thought of coming to the bank this morning to get a loan to buy a house.
He didn't expect to run into Susanna, who was paying off her mortgage early with millions of dollars. If he could borrow that money to buy a house, it would be great.
Dick asked tentatively, "How long does it usually take to process the payment after making an appointment?"
"It depends, about half a month."
Dick started to plan. If he could win over Susanna and borrow money from her, she probably wouldn't refuse. After all, he was buying a house for their future together; it would be their marital home!
The more he thought about it, the more feasible the plan seemed!
An hour later, Susanna came out of the VIP room, having finally completed her business.
"Susanna, are you done?" Dick asked, walking towards her.
Susanna looked up and tensed slightly. "Almost. Have you finished your loan application?"
Dick sighed, "Not yet. The process is a bit complicated. These things take time. Where are you headed? I'll give you a ride."
"I'm planning to go to the school library. It's not on the way to Epic Horizon, so I'll go by myself," Susanna replied.
"What a coincidence, I need to go to the school too. Let's go together."
Susanna didn't expect the coincidence but didn't dwell on it. After all, Epic Horizon was initially set up using resources from the school, and Dick occasionally returned to his alma mater for promotions.
While driving, Dick asked, "Susanna, what business did you handle at the bank? You even went to the VIP room?"
"Nothing much, just consulting on some matters. I didn't notice if it was a VIP room," Susanna said, not mentioning she was there to handle early mortgage repayment. Edward had transferred the money to her account last night, faster than she expected.
Seeing that she didn't elaborate, Dick didn't press further, but he was more convinced that Susanna was now very wealthy.
After arriving at the school, Susanna got out of the car and left.
Watching her from behind, Dick sensed that he couldn't let this opportunity slip by. The millions of dollars Susanna had were likely from her family. In today's world, families that can casually access millions are well-to-do.
The woman from yesterday's blind date was excellent, but her family's financial situation was much less favorable.
Although Susanna's educational background wasn't as impressive, she was from the same alma mater and had a strong family background, so her conditions weren't bad. Dick decided to focus on pursuing Susanna.
In the afternoon, when Susanna came out of the library, she saw a crowd gathered outside. It seemed someone was about to confess, with flowers and candles arranged on the ground.
"Susanna."
The crowd parted, and Susanna saw Dick standing among the flowers and candles. She had a bad feeling. Was he going to confess to her? Susanna immediately felt uneasy.
Dick took a few steps forward and stood in front of her. "Susanna, from the first time I saw you at school, I felt you were a very special girl, but I didn't know what that feeling was. Later, when you reappeared at the competition, I realized it was love at first sight. Then, when I invited you to work at Epic Horizon and you agreed, I was so happy I couldn't sleep all night."
At this point, Susanna didn't want to listen anymore. She interrupted, "Dick, let me speak first."
"No, Susanna, let me finish. It took courage to speak up in front of everyone. Please allow me to complete my thoughts; without that, I may not continue. Seeing you at Epic Horizon each day brought me great joy. I know you're careful with relationships, but I can offer you security, protection, and lifelong care. Please give me a chance."
After speaking, Dick knelt on one knee with the flowers, and pink balloons rose into the air, creating a romantic scene.
The surrounding girls started screaming, "So romantic! Say yes, say yes!"
