Chapter 174 A Failed Confession

Susanna's face changed when she heard Aaron's words. What was he up to? They were getting divorced tomorrow. Was he planning to spill the beans about their relationship the day before?

Her heart pounded in her chest.

Just then, Ethan shouted, "Dick, shut up!"

They were married, for crying out loud! Dick was way out of line, trying to hit on Aaron's wife without even considering his own standing!

Susanna blushed at the mention of "cousin." She remembered the last time Allison spread rumors about her, and Aaron had thrown their marriage certificate on Ethan's desk. Ethan knew about her and Aaron's relationship.

Aaron glared at Dick. "You think you're worthy of confessing to her? I don't think so!"

Dick's face went pale. "Mr. Abbott, let me explain!"

Susanna felt super awkward. She didn't expect Aaron to actually play the cousin card.

Aaron ignored Dick and stepped forward, looking at her. "Let's go. What are you standing there for?"

With everyone staring, Susanna had no choice but to follow Aaron.

Dick tried to follow, but the bodyguards stopped him.

Ethan frowned and stepped up. "Dick, I thought you were smart. How could you be so dumb? Do you really think Susanna is someone you can pursue?"

Dick replied, a bit stubbornly, "Ethan, Susanna's a grown woman. Why shouldn't I try? It's my choice, and you shouldn't interfere."

If he could win Susanna over, he could convince her brother to invest in his studio . Then he wouldn't have to suck up to people at school.

Upon learning of Susanna's impending divorce, Dick's self-assurance soared. He believed women in her circumstance were the simplest conquests. Being unmarried himself, he considered himself a superior prospect to a divorced woman. In his view, if Susanna possessed any wisdom, she would recognize the folly in rejecting him!

Thinking this, Dick turned and walked away, not wanting to deal with Ethan.

Ethan watched Dick leave with disdain and turned to his secretary. "Stop all of Dick's business investments. Keeping someone like him around will only cause trouble for our school. Better to cut ties now."

If they upset Aaron and the Abbott family pulled their investment from the school, it would be a huge loss.

Initially, Ethan had thought about giving Dick some advice, assuming he didn't know about Susanna and Aaron's relationship. But seeing Dick's arrogance, he decided against it. People like Dick never go far.

Susanna and Aaron left the school together. She sat in the back seat of the car and glanced at Aaron. "Why are you at the school today?"

"What? Did I interrupt something good for you?" Aaron shot back.

"Aaron, what a jerk. Can't you speak politely?" Susanna cursed silently to herself.

She leaned back in her seat. "Not really. Luckily, you showed up. Otherwise, I wouldn't know how to handle it."

"Someone got down on one knee to propose. How romantic. You didn't know how to handle it?" Aaron's tone was dripping with jealousy. Realizing how sarcastic he sounded, he immediately shut his mouth, looking uncomfortable.

Susanna replied calmly, "It depends on the situation. I have no interest in Dick. It's like three years ago when I married you out of unrequited love, and you gave me the cold shoulder for three years. Being liked by someone you don't like is not romantic at all."

After she finished speaking, the atmosphere in the car shifted instantly. The driver and Tyler didn't dare to breathe. In this world, probably only Mrs. Abbott dared to speak to Mr. Abbott like that.

Aaron felt a tinge of satisfaction rather than anger. Did Susanna's remark suggest she held a low opinion of Dick? Comparing him to Dick was preposterous; he would never scheme against her in such a manner!

Aaron's lips curved slightly. "Shows your taste isn't that bad. Dick's a real piece of work. Arrogant, conceited, and conniving."

"Aaron, is it fun to belittle others like this?" Susanna asked.

Though she didn't like Aaron, she thought he was quite ambitious, not as bad as he said.

"I'm just telling the truth," Aaron replied.

"Well, don't say it next time."

Susanna turned her head to look out the window, showing no interest in continuing the conversation.

Seeing the back of her head, Aaron felt inexplicably irritated, especially when he remembered her leaving the hotel with that man yesterday morning. He didn't know where she went afterward. It seemed like there were always different men around her, and they all looked quite good.

Susanna checked the time and said, "Drop me off at the next intersection."

Aaron glanced at her. "You live here?"

"I'll take the subway home. It's very convenient."

"Where do you live? I'll give you a ride," Aaron offered.

"No need, it's not on your way!"

Susanna's firm refusal made Aaron's expression harden. He kicked the driver's seat and spoke coldly, "Were you not listening? Stop the car and let her out."

The driver quickly pulled over.

Susanna immediately opened the car door and got out. However, she hesitated for a moment at the door and then turned to look at him.

Aaron's eyes brightened a bit. "What's the matter?"

Susanna spoke seriously, "Tomorrow is Monday. See you in court at 9 AM."

Before Aaron could say anything, the car door slammed shut.

Aaron's face darkened, and he yanked off his tie. He didn't even know why he was so angry.

Meanwhile, Susanna took the subway home, where Madison had already prepared a sumptuous dinner. Brian kept praising Madison's cooking, making her so happy she couldn't stop smiling.

Susanna realized that Brian's charm with women wasn't just because of his looks but also his sweet-talking. He was really good at it!

After dinner, Brian and she sat on the couch to rest. Susanna whispered, "Brian, I finally understand why you're so popular with girls. You're really good at talking."

"It's just natural," said Brian.

"Then teach me."

Brian ruffled her hair. "No need to learn. Whatever you say sounds good. You don't need to think about flattering others. Just be yourself. If anyone bullies you, remember you have six brothers."

Susanna felt the support behind her, and it felt different. She smiled. "Alright, when will your training school be ready? I'm interested in taking lessons. I am not work on weekends and want to learn the piano.."

"The training studio will take some time. Even after the renovation, there will be formaldehyde. How about we buy a piano at home first? I'll teach you the basics. Later, when you go to the studio, you'll be able to keep up," suggested Brian.

"Sounds good."

"Get some rest. I'll leave now. Tomorrow we'll go pick out a piano together."

Susanna paused. She had an appointment with Aaron tomorrow!
