Chapter 330 She Is My Ex-Wife

Susanna couldn't shake off what Vivian had just dropped on her. Aaron was clearly into her, but he kept pushing her away. If he had someone else in his heart, it would all add up.

Aaron looked at her, his throat bobbing a bit. "Yeah, you could say that."

Four years had gone by, and he still couldn't get Susanna out of his head. She had vanished without a trace, but he always felt like she wasn't really gone.

Susanna didn't even flinch at his response. A sly smile played on her lips. "No wonder Mr. Abbott keeps turning me down, even refusing the special medicine I offered. Now I'm super curious about the woman in your heart. What kind of girl could make you so hung up?"

Aaron's eyes narrowed as he looked at her calmly. "I've answered your question. Now it's your turn."

Aaron was a tough nut to crack. He wasn't easily fooled.

Susanna nodded coolly. "Alright, Mr. Abbott, you asked when I met Sam, right? It was four years ago. That's when I got pregnant."

"Four years ago?"

Aaron's eyes sharpened at that number, scrutinizing her.

Susanna noticed his weird look and asked, "Mr. Abbott, why are you looking at me like that? It's like you can't believe I said four years ago. My kid's almost four, you know."

Aaron stared at her, searching for any slip-up. He thought he was being obvious, but she stayed cool as a cucumber. Four years, had she changed that much? Or was he just seeing things?

Aaron's eyes narrowed. "It is pretty unbelievable. Miss Ramirez, weren't you curious about the woman in my heart?"

Susanna looked up at him. "Yeah, I am."

"That woman is my ex-wife."

Hearing "ex-wife," Susanna's hand froze. She thought it might be an old flame or girlfriend, but his ex-wife?

She twirled the coffee spoon in her hand. "Mr. Abbott, is there a link between your ex-wife and the four years I just mentioned?"

"There is. Four years ago, my ex-wife had an accident and went missing. People said she died, but I never bought it," Aaron replied.

Susanna was puzzled, but her mood suddenly dipped, an indescribable feeling washing over her.

She put down her coffee cup and asked, "Mr. Abbott, have you been looking for your ex-wife all these years? Any leads?"

"No, but things might be different now." Aaron looked at her intently, like he was trying to see through her.

Susanna's brows knitted. That feeling was back. Aaron's gaze was weird again, like he was seeing someone else through her.

Suddenly, something clicked in her mind, and she blurted out, "Do I look a lot like your ex-wife?"

Aaron's hand paused, staring deeply at her. "That's right."

Hearing his answer, Susanna couldn't help but laugh. This was getting too dramatic.

She took a sip of coffee, calmed down, and replied, "Mr. Abbott, so when I said I met Sam four years ago, your expression was so weird because you thought I was your ex-wife?"

Aaron heard her blunt words, a hint of confusion flashing in his eyes. He thought by laying it out so clearly, he'd see Susanna's guilty look.

Aaron was usually a pro at reading people, but Susanna's poker face had him stumped this time.

A heavy feeling settled in his chest, and he just nodded. "Yeah. So, no need to keep up the act."

Susanna sighed. Looked like her gut feeling was spot on. She leaned back in her chair, one hand on the table, a subtle smile on her red lips. Her vibe shifted, more confident and assertive now.

"Mr. Abbott, no offense, but your flirting game is ancient. Even TV dramas don't pull this cliché stuff anymore. Why would I buy your story?"

She felt a bit let down. She thought Aaron might be different, but he was just like the rest, using old tricks that almost got her.

Aaron's voice was deep. "Honestly, pretending to have amnesia is pretty lame and childish."

"Are you saying I'm faking amnesia?" Susanna felt the disconnect growing. Her patience was running thin, so she stood up abruptly. "Sorry, Mr. Abbott, but I think our time's better spent elsewhere."

Leaving the restaurant, she mulled over Aaron's ridiculous remarks on her way to the amusement park. When she got there, she saw Lillian and Sam having a blast. Seeing Lillian so happy, she decided not to interrupt and let them enjoy their time.

Sometimes, the more you stop a kid, the more they want something.

Since Lillian was so into hanging out with Sam, it was better to let her. This way, Lillian could see that Sam's presence wasn't all that.

Susanna's mind was still buzzing with Aaron's words. They seemed childish, but something felt off.

She pulled out her phone and started digging up info on Aaron, the big shot at Abbott Group in Lindwell.

On the surface, Aaron's info showed he was married, but no news of a divorce.

As for Aaron's ex-wife, there was nothing in the public records. Just that she was female, no other details, not even a photo.

Using some special means, she finally dug up some info on his mysterious ex-wife.

Secretly married for years, from a humble background, and supposedly died in an accident four years ago.

Susanna looked at the scant info and thought the Abbott family had really kept Mrs. Abbott under wraps. From what she knew about rich families, they probably found Mrs. Abbott's ordinary background embarrassing, so they kept it low-key.

She was dying to see if she looked like this mysterious ex-wife, but despite her efforts, she couldn't find a photo.

Feeling a bit stubborn, she called Abel. "Help me dig up info on Aaron and his ex-wife, including photos."

Abel's face changed dramatically when he heard this. "Ms. Jones, why the sudden interest in these two?"

Could it be that Susanna remembered something?
