Chapter 90 Money Talks

Susanna glanced at her phone but chose not to answer it.

After all, she knew it couldn't be anything good, so she didn't want to pick up.

However, the phone kept ringing.

In the end, Susanna reluctantly answered the call, "Hello?"

"What are you doing? Why aren’t you answering the phone? Do you know I have an urgent matter to discuss with you?" The voice on the other end demanded.

Susanna replied coldly, "What do you want?"

Her foster mother shouted loudly, "Susanna, transfer three thousand to me immediately."

"Three thousand? Why don't you just go rob a bank?" Susanna knew that whenever her foster mother called, it was always about money.

She demanded three thousand right off the bat!

"Susanna, don't play dumb with me. Your husband is wealthy, and you manage all the money in your family. Now that your family has found you, there's no way you can't come up with three thousand. It’s been too merciful that I haven't bothered you for a while. If I can't get the money, I'll call to torment you every day."

Furrowing her brows, Susanna asked, "What do you need the three thousand for?"

"Your brother's girlfriend is pregnant and they are planning to get married. They need money now. He is your brother, you can't just watch him unable to get married, can you?" Mrs. Miller explained.

Susanna's voice remained cold. "I don't have the money. Even my education expenses are covered by Madison."

The voice on the other end became sharp. "Susanna, stop lying. Didn't you win a prize of thirty thousand dollars in the competition last time? Your aunt's money has all been spent by you, don’t tell me you have no money left. Transfer the money to my bank account within a day, or I won't let you off the hook."

After the call ended, Susanna frowned at her phone and immediately blacklisted that number.

She was not an ATM machine that could dispense three thousand just like that.

She touched her belly, realizing that she also needed money now!

Moreover, she had been bullied by her foster mother's twins since she was a child. What does the fact that the foster mother's son is getting married have to do with her? Even if she had three thousand, she wouldn't want to give it.

In the evening, after Susanna finished work and returned home, her aunt's expression seemed off.

She asked, "Madison, did my foster mother call you and ask for money?"

"Susanna, obviously she called you.”

Susanna nodded and voiced, "She asked for three thousand within a day. But where would I get that much money? I'm still paying off the mortgage every month."

"Susanna, you don't need to worry about this. Just now, a neighbor from the old neighborhood called me and said that your foster mother went there to inquire about where we currently live. But I didn't tell them anything, so they shouldn't be able to find us."

"I know, I won't give them the money." Susanna consoled.

Susanna comforted her anxious aunt and told her that if her foster parents really came to cause trouble, she had six brothers who wouldn't lose even in a fight.

Her foster parents had been quiet for so long probably because they were afraid of her brothers.

In the countryside, a family with many men had an advantage in fights and arguments.

Susanna didn't take this matter to heart at all and went to school the next day as usual.

However, the teacher found her. "Susanna, your foster parents called the school looking for you, saying they couldn't reach you. They have something to discuss with you."

Susanna's expression changed slightly. "I don't want to see them. They want three thousand from me for my brother's wedding, how could I possibly have that much money?"

The teacher had also heard about Susanna's family background and didn't say anything further.

During class, Susanna was distracted, not expecting her foster parents to find the school so quickly. They had known which school she had attended before.

This was really not good news.

After class, she left the school wearing a hat and a mask, to be afraid of being recognized by her foster parents.

Apparently, her foster parents were adept at blocking the school gate.

Susanna looked around by the roadside and, not seeing any suspicious individuals, breathed a sigh of relief and prepared to take a taxi home.

"Susanna, stop right there!"

A red sports car stopped by the roadside, and Elaine got out angrily. "Where do you think you're hiding?"

Seeing Elaine, Susanna remained calm. "I'm not hiding."

Elaine retorted, "If you're not hiding, why are you wearing a mask and a hat on such a hot day?"

Elaine stood in front of Susanna. "You dare to report to my family, causing my monthly limit to be reduced to only seven thousand, which is far from enough to spend. Come with me to talk to Aaron and explain clearly that Allison's matter has nothing to do with me. She did it all on her own, which has nothing to do with me."

It was unbearable for her not to have money to spend these days. She dared not attend gatherings with friends or go to the mall. It was more agonizing than killing her.

Seeing the irritable Elaine in front of her, Susanna knew what kind of life Elaine had lived before. She was used to spending lavishly and showing off, suddenly having her credit card cut off was definitely hard for her.

It had to be said that Aaron's move was very effective.

Susanna said coldly, "I didn't cut off your card, it's none of my business. Besides, Allison admitted herself that this matter is related to you. Are you innocent?"

Elaine expostulated, "It wasn't related to me in the first place. It's because you have too many enemies that Allison couldn't stand you to get personal on you. What does it have to do with me?"

Elaine would never admit that this matter was related to her. She had already reached an agreement with Allison that she would not say another word. So, she was safe now.

Susanna knew Elaine wouldn't admit it, and she didn't want to waste time talking nonsense.

At that moment, she saw a middle-aged couple walking towards them from across the street.

Weren't they her foster parents?

She would have left long ago and wouldn't have been caught if it weren't for Elaine stopping her,

She immediately lowered her head, but her foster mother's voice came from across the street. "Susanna, you bitch, I see you, how dare you to hide?"

Susanna was about to run, but Elaine grabbed her. "Where do you think you're going? Aren't those your foster parents? Why are you hiding? Isn't it better to talk to them?"

"Elaine, let go of me!" Susanna shouted.

"You want me to let go, fine, but you have to get in the car with me and go see Aaron first." Elaine replied.

Seeing her foster parents approaching, Susanna didn't hesitate and got into Elaine's car. She didn't want to be caught up by her foster parents now.

Elaine immediately drove off, leaving the middle-aged couple far behind.

Susanna looked back and saw her foster parents running and cursing, she smiled with a thought that thankfully she ran fast!

Elaine felt a bit proud. "I saved you this time, you must explain everything to Aaron later."

Susanna turned back. "What do you want me to explain?"

Elaine said, "Explain that this matter has nothing to do with me, and it's best to have him restore my credit card limit immediately."

"Do you think he's a fool? How could he possibly cut off your credit card if he had no evidence?" Susanna retorted.

Elaine was suddenly angry. "Susanna, are you saying you won't explain to him? Then I'll take you back immediately!"

Susanna was speechless, she really wanted to curse!
