Chapter 302 Who Dares to Stop Susanna from Leaving?

"Murder! Somebody help!"

Susanna, all groggy, heard a bunch of noise around her. She forced her eyes open, but everything was a blur 'cause of her dizziness.

As she sat up and leaned against the railing, she wondered why she was outside. She clearly remembered being in Maria's bedroom and getting knocked out. How the heck did she end up in the hallway?

Hearing the commotion, Susanna instinctively looked down the stairs and saw an elderly woman lying in a pool of blood. Her face went pale, and she gasped, "Grandma!"

What the heck happened? Why did Maria fall down the stairs?

Susanna gritted her teeth and tried to get up, but she fell back down. She crawled to the top of the stairs and, seeing Maria lying in the blood, shouted, "Is anyone there? Help!"

In no time, a group of people rushed from the first floor, with Aaron leading the way. As his eyes fell on Maria's motionless form, his expression darkened. "Call an ambulance, now!" he barked.

Maud screamed, "Oh my God, what happened? How did Maria fall down the stairs? What were you servants doing?"

One of the servants knelt on the ground and explained, "Mrs. Maria Abbott wanted to talk alone with the ex-Mrs. Abbott and wouldn't let us come. We heard shouting, and when we got there, Mrs. Maria Abbott was already on the floor."

Maud looked shocked. "Are you saying Susanna pushed Maria down the stairs?"

"It wasn't me! I didn't push Grandma!" Susanna gritted her teeth and stood up, holding onto the railing for support. She felt dizzy but managed to respond, "I went to see Grandma, but I was attacked and knocked out in her bedroom. When I woke up, Grandma was already hurt." Her gaze locked onto Aaron, silently hoping he would believe her.

Aaron's expression turned grim as he issued a decisive command, "Get the bodyguards to secure the perimeter of Abbott Manor. No one leaves until we unravel this mystery."

Maria was quickly carried away on a stretcher, but the blood on the ground was glaring!

Susanna never expected such a serious incident to happen after she woke up. Who was framing her? Who would harm Maria?

Elaine snorted, "Aaron, I think Susanna is not without suspicion. After all, she was the only one with Grandma when it happened. The servants heard them arguing, and then Grandma got hurt. Did Grandma fall by herself?"

"Shut up!" Aaron's voice was icy, his gaze cold.

As the Jones family arrived at the chaotic scene, Susanna's brothers spotted her standing pale-faced at the top of the stairs. Concern etched on their faces, they rushed to her side, calling out, "Susanna, are you alright?"

Edward immediately smelled blood and his face changed dramatically. "Susanna, are you hurt?"

Austin noticed the wound on the back of Susanna's head and lifted her hair. Susanna winced in pain, her face pale.

Filled with a mix of anxiety and sorrow, Austin questioned, "Why didn't you call us when you got hurt? If we hadn't heard about Mrs. Maria Abbott's accident, we wouldn't have known you were injured!"

Susanna forced a smile. "Someone framed me for pushing Mrs. Maria Abbott. I went to see her and got knocked out. When I woke up, I saw her lying in a pool of blood." She needed to find out who the culprit was!

Daniel immediately said, "Susanna, chill. With me around, no one's gonna mess with you." To be real, even if Susanna did it, he'd find a way to clear her name!

Edward said coldly, "Susanna, let Daniel handle this. I'm taking you to the hospital first!"

Austin was super anxious. Susanna was pregnant, and getting hit like this was seriously dangerous.

Someone from the Abbott family piped up, "Are we just gonna let Susanna leave?"

"Yeah, didn't they say no one can leave until we find out who did it? If Susanna goes, the other guests will definitely complain."

Edward glared coldly, his eyes filled with murderous intent. "I dare anyone to stop me."

The six Jones brothers stood on the steps, looking down at the Abbott family members, creating a tense atmosphere.

Austin turned to Aaron with urgency in his voice. "You know Susanna's condition. She has a concussion and is bleeding. It's really dangerous!"

Aaron saw Susanna's pale face and the blood seeping from the back of her head, staining her white dress. His expression grave, he swallowed hard before speaking, "You can go to the hospital, but please don't leave Lindwell until this is resolved."

Susanna looked at Aaron standing by the pool of blood, uttering, "I understand." Even without Aaron's words, she would find the culprit.

At this moment, Taylor hurried over to Aaron. "The surveillance footage has been deleted."

Aaron, frustrated, demanded, "Contact a tech expert immediately to recover the footage."

Susanna grabbed Arthur's hand, pleading, "Arthur, can you recover the surveillance footage?"

With a confident nod, Arthur replied, "No problem. Susanna, go to the hospital. Leave this to me." Turning to Aaron, he added with steely resolve, "Give me a computer and take me to the surveillance room."

Maud asked in surprise, "Can he do it?"

Susanna quickly explained, "Arthur is a top computer expert!"

Brian added, "There's no code or program in the world that Arthur can't crack. Recovering footage is a piece of cake!"

"No need for that, the culprit has been found." Vivian limped out, seemingly injured, but she brought along a maid with her hands and feet tied.

Susanna was stunned, but when she saw the maid, she exclaimed in shock, "Wendy, it's you?"

She never expected it to be Wendy. Recollections flooded her mind—being bumped into, her dress stained, and then being guided upstairs to encounter Maria. It all started to make sense now. It was a meticulously planned setup.

"Yes, it's me. Why do you get to live such a happy life while I have to struggle? I was supposed to be the protagonist, not you! How come you end up with a rich family while I'm still just a poor orphan?" Wendy claimed.

Susanna shouted, "If you hate me, come at me! Why did you hurt Maria?"

Wendy laughed, "Mrs. Maria Abbott was too easy to fool. I told her you wanted to talk to her alone, and she walked right into the trap."

Rage consumed Susanna as she trembled with anger. "Bastard! I'll kill you!" she seethed, attempting to rush down the stairs. But in her fury and haste, she missed a step and tumbled down.
