Chapter 50 Give Up Your Seat for Miss Jones
There was no expression on Aaron's face. "Do you think a divorce can solve the problem?"
"I will persuade her to have the surgery."
He narrowed his eyes and asked, "How are you going to persuade her?"
Susanna replied, "You don't need to worry about that."
At this moment, the door of the ward opened and Taylor walked out. "Madam, Grandma Abbott wants you and Aaron to go in. She has something to say."
Erica stood aside and smiled, "I also came to visit Grandma Abbott specially."
Taylor spoke with a bad tone, "I'm sorry, Grandma Abbott doesn't want to see you."
Erica's expression froze on her face. She could only stand outside, watching Aaron walk into the ward with another woman, her eyes filled with coldness.
Susanna walked into the ward and felt Erica's gaze on her.
But she didn't have time to think too much about it. She stepped forward and held Grandma Abbott's hand, it felt a bit cold. She said uncomfortably, "Madam, are you feeling better today?"
"Much better."
Grandma Abbott said, but her pale face revealed her current physical condition.
Aaron pursed his lips. "Grandmother, I have arranged your surgery for next week."
The old lady directly refused, "I said I won't have surgery! Unless I can see my grandson being born, otherwise, there's no meaning for me to live."
Aaron angrily spoke up, "Grandma, are you using your own health to threaten me?"
"If you think that way, then there's nothing I can do."
Susanna looked at the frail appearance of the old lady and felt instantly upset. She knew that Grandma Abbott had been refusing surgery because of her. The old woman was worried that if something went wrong during the surgery, she wouldn't be able to take care of her in the future.
But now that Susanna and Aaron had already agreed to divorce, she had already let down Grandma Abbott's expectations.
Susanna had been an orphan since she was young. Mr. Miller had treated her poorly, and only Madison had been kind to her.
During these three years, Grandma Abbott was kind to her, treating her like a real granddaughter. She couldn't just watch the old lady continue to weaken like this.
This surgery really couldn't be delayed any longer.
In an instant, Susanna made up her mind. She took Grandma Abbott's hand and placed it on her own belly. "Grandma, I'm pregnant."
The room fell silent instantly.
Aaron looked at the woman beside him in shock, his gaze falling on her belly. He seemed unable to believe what she just said - Susanna was actually pregnant?
Grandma Abbott on the hospital bed was also surprised, wearing an expression of disbelief. "Is it true?"
"Grandma, it's true."
Susanna nodded and smiled. "It's still early in the pregnancy, I only recently found out."
"Okay, okay, this is really great news. You are always so careless. I suspected it when you had morning sickness last time, but you guys said it wasn't true."
Seeing the old lady so excited, Susanna's mood improved compared to before.
Grandma Abbott quickly had Taylor bring her a chair. "Susanna, you two young ones don't know anything. I'm going to have Taylor come over and take care of you, so that you won't make any mistakes in your daily life."
"Grandma, you don't have to go through so much trouble. It's not that big of a deal, really."
"Pregnancy is a big deal, and this time you have to listen to me."
In the end, Susanna didn't refuse. She didn't dare to look at the man beside her all this time, after all, he had made it clear from the beginning that he didn't want children.
But she had secretly deceived him for so long!
The door to the hospital room opened, and Maud entered with Erica. "Mom, Miss Jones specifically came to visit you. She even bought so many expensive gifts, all specialties from Novaria."
Erica followed behind Maud and was a little unhappy when she saw Susanna sitting there.
Susanna felt Erica's gaze, but she didn't have the energy to pay attention to it right now. Maud immediately said without hesitation, "Susanna, stand up and let Miss Jones sit. She is an honored guest!"
"Stay seated." Susanna subconsciously tried to stand up but was stopped by the old lady, with Aaron's voice in her ears.
Maud immediately said, "Aaron, what are you doing? What's wrong with Susanna standing for a while? Miss Jones specially came over, and not even giving her a chair would become a laughingstock."
Erica hypocritically said, "It's fine. I can stand."
Grandma Abbott coldly snorted and said, "Now Susanna is different. She's pregnant and naturally needs to sit."
This statement was like a thunderclap, instantly causing a commotion.
Erica was dumbfounded.
Maud also widened her eyes and looked at Susanna, "Impossible, how did she suddenly get pregnant?"
Grandma Abbott hurriedly said, "What do you mean? Aren't you happy that Susanna is pregnant?"
Maud felt a blockage in her chest, unable to go up or down. If Susanna were pregnant, how could Erica marry her son in the future?
Aaron spoke up, "Alright, Grandma needs to rest. Let's go out."
Grandma Abbott waved her hand and said happily, "Grandson, take good care of your wife and child. You don't need to worry about me. Just arrange the surgery directly. I will take good care of my great-grandchild."
Susanna heard the old lady agree to the surgery and finally breathed a sigh of relief.
The group of people left the ward, but the atmosphere outside was a bit awkward.
Susanna ignored everyone and walked directly towards the elevator. She had to leave this place immediately.
Maud immediately pulled Aaron aside and lowered her voice, "Aaron, didn't I already warn you not to get Susanna pregnant? Didn't you think to use contraception at night?"
In the face of his mother's remarks, Aaron's mouth twitched. "Mom, this is my own business."
"This is not just your business now. Now that Susanna is pregnant, what will happen to Miss Jones? Her brother will definitely not let Erica marry into your family as a stepmother."
Maud really wanted a wealthy daughter-in-law, and now she was about to achieve it, but Susanna's pregnancy ruined everything.
As Susanna walked out of the elevator, she heard Erica's voice behind her, "Stop right there."
Erica ran down the stairs and grabbed her wrist, "Are you faking your pregnancy, aren't you?"
It's impossible for Susanna to get pregnant just by saying so.
As Susanna was about to respond, she saw Aaron walking out of the elevator and panicked, forcefully pushing Erica away. "Let go of me!"
Erica caught a glimpse of Aaron from the corner of her eye, deliberately letting go of Susanna's hand and falling to the ground as if Susanna had pushed her down!
With her hand empty, Susanna lost her balance and her face turned pale. Instinctively, she protected her stomach - her child!
Erica's head naturally turned towards Aaron. "Aaron, help me!"
Susanna also instinctively looked towards Aaron.
