Chapter 145 Did I Cause You Any Trouble?
As soon as Edward knew that the branch office's website had been attacked, he immediately called a meeting with the security department. Being bullied in such a manner was utterly intolerable.
Sitting in his office, he saw the writing on the website and was furious. He couldn't believe that after coming to Lindwell to open a branch, someone dared to provoke him!
He was determined to find out which scoundrel had such nerve!
Edward said sternly, "You got ten minutes to to scrub these words clean, and within half an hour, you better have that hacker's IP address. If you can't track it down, bring that person in to work for us, or you're all out of a job!"
The security team started tracking the hacker immediately.
Edward then adjusted his tie and said to his secretary, "Get the manager of the demolition department here right away. What's going on? Why is a hacker targeting us?"
Soon, the department manager realized the gravity of the situation and phoned Erica, "Miss Jones, what's our next move? The company's website has been compromised. Do you think the demolition family is behind this?"
"What are you afraid of? That family doesn't have the skills. It must be someone else you've crossed."
Erica doubted that Susanna was involved. She didn't think Susanna had the resources to hire such a skilled hacker.
"Miss Jones, there's a girl waiting downstairs for me to wrap up the meeting. I've been dodging her by claiming the meeting is still ongoing. Now, the company's website is attacked. How could it be such a coincidence?"
Erica replied, "I'm coming right away. Don't panic. Just say it might be something else that caused the hacker to attack the company. Edward's security team is not incompetent; they will apprehend the hacker soon. You need to be mindful of what you say and what you don't say."
"Yes, I understand, Miss Jones. Don't worry."
After hanging up, the demolition department manager nervously made his way to the CEO's office, knocked, and entered. "Mr. Jones, you requested to see me?" he asked.
"Do I need to ask you what's going on? Haven't you seen what's written on the company's website? Who did you offend that led to this hacker attack?" Edward interrogated.
"Mr. Jones, it's really not my fault. You know our company is new here, and it's easy to offend people. Maybe it's the company we competed with last time holding a grudge and trying to intimidate us."
The demolition department manager definitely wouldn't confess to anything at this point. He was simply following orders, and if things went wrong, it wouldn't be his fault.
Edward glanced at him and thought the explanation made sense. It was normal to be targeted when new in town, but he didn't expect the other party to dare hack the company's website.
Arthur was a famous hacker; the other party wasn't skilled enough to play these games!
Soon, the security team reported, "Boss, the other party is very cunning. They retreated as soon as they realized we were onto them. Their IP address is well-hidden, and their techniques are sophisticated, like a seasoned hacker. We can't catch them in a short time."
"Bring the computer over."
Edward decided to handle it himself. He didn't believe he couldn't catch a small hacker.
Staring at the computer screen, he dialed Arthur's number. "Arthur, a hacker has boldly breached our company's network system. Is there a way to track them down?"
Arthur said, "Oh, who has the guts to do that? In Novaria, no hacker would dare touch Sliverpeak Group."
"Cut the crap. This isn't Novaria. The security team can't handle it; the other party seems very skilled. Didn't you say you had a powerful program? Send it to me. I must catch this hacker today!"
Edward didn't believe there was a hacker he couldn't catch with Arthur's help.
Arthur chuckled, "No problem. Where is the virtual IP address? Once I know the address, I can figure out who it is."
"The virtual IP is in Vanished Oasis Isle."
Arthur choked on his coffee when he heard the name. "Edward, say that again. Where is it?"
Edward repeated, "Vanished Oasis Isle. The name sounds strange. Is there such a place in the world?"
Arthur said, "Of course not. It's a virtual address."
Arthur's mind raced as he thought, 'No way, what a coincidence? This was something he and his brothers had devised, and only a select few could utilize it.'
Arthur had just given that security software to Susanna last night. Could it be uncovered today? He suddenly had a bad feeling.
Edward was getting impatient. "Arthur, what are you waiting for? Send me the software."
"Edward, wait. I happen to be free now. Let me handle this. I need to verify something."
Edward raised an eyebrow, uttering, "You wouldn't happen to know this hacker and want to let them off easy, would you?"
Arthur replied, "Edward, it's hard to say right now. I need to see for myself."
"Alright, I'll have them give you control of the computer. Our company's system was developed by yours, so you know what to do."
Edward hung up, feeling that Arthur's tone was a bit strange.
'Could it be that Arthur really knows this person?' He wondered.
Arthur swiftly accessed the company's internal system and launched a counterattack against the hacker. However, the adversary retreated rapidly. He found the hacker's techniques strangely familiar.
He suddenly stopped and, after thinking for a moment, called Susanna.
Susanna was under attack by a formidable hacker. If she hadn't promptly employed the techniques Arthur had taught her, her computer could have been compromised.
Sweat appeared on Susanna's forehead. She felt she was still not skilled enough.
At this moment, her phone started vibrating. It was Arthur calling.
Susanna hesitated for a moment and answered the call nervously, "Arthur, what's up?"
"Susanna, did you use the program I gave you yesterday?"
Arthur got straight to the point. Wasting time wouldn't help. He had just asked his brothers, and none of them had used the program, leaving only one possibility.
Hearing Arthur's question, Susanna paused. "Arthur, how did you know?"
Arthur sighed slightly, realizing he had guessed correctly.
Susanna felt even more guilty. "Arthur, did I cause you trouble?"
