Chapter 398 She Finally Caught Him
Susanna's eyes had this crazy red tint to them.
Aaron scratched his head, looking all confused. "I don't get it. Why didn't you hit pause on Lillian's surgery when you knew the bone marrow was MIA this morning?"
Susanna finally chilled out, or she might've spilled the beans.
Charles was already chilling in the vacuum chamber, and the only thing keeping him alive was the bone marrow Aaron donated yesterday.
Her eyes went ice-cold; she had to track down that bone marrow!
She said, "The doc over there messed up and didn't check the box in real-time."
Aaron's face was like stone. "Bunch of morons. You should've never brought Lillian back to Novaria."
Susanna shot back, "If your mom hadn't stuck her nose in, none of this would've happened! This is all on her!"
Right then, Tyler, who was next to Aaron, stepped up and said, "Our guys didn't find Maud on vacation. She might not have left at all."
So, Maud was lying.
Aaron's face changed instantly. "What are you waiting for? Get someone to find her! If she didn't go on vacation, she's hiding somewhere in the city."
Hearing this, Susanna finally gave Aaron a half-smile. "The bone marrow you donated yesterday is a lifeline for Lillian. If your mom doesn't hand it over or destroys it, she's a murderer. I won't let her get away with it. I mean it, she'll pay."
Susanna was both fierce and pissed, her eyes blazing.
Aaron looked at the tough-as-nails Susanna in front of him. She was a whole different person from four years ago.
He knew Susanna was now the Jones family heir, had everything, power on par with the Abbott family, and a bunch of brothers doting on her.
He got that Susanna wasn't bluffing; she could totally back it up!
Aaron said calmly, "I want to find the bone marrow to save Lillian too. Do you really think I'd want to hurt my own daughter?"
"But if it comes down to Lillian or your mom, who do you pick?"
"And I won't let it come to that."
"You better not."
Susanna finished talking and stormed out of the hospital. She couldn't waste a second; she had to send people to find Maud.
Aaron followed her, worried. "Where are you going now?"
Susanna turned back, her face cold. "Home, obviously. You better hope your people find Maud before I do. Otherwise, no promises."
She got in the car and slammed the door. Right then, she felt Edward was right; too much contact with the Abbott family was bad news and should be avoided.
Aaron wanted to say something, but her bodyguard blocked him.
Aaron stood there, both amused and helpless, watching her car drive off.
Finally, he yanked off his tie and unbuttoned a few buttons to breathe. He didn't expect things to blow up like this.
Maud had really screwed him over this time.
Tyler, standing next to him, couldn't help but feel bad for Aaron. Winning Susanna back was already tough, and now it was even harder!
Meanwhile, Susanna was cruising in the car when her phone buzzed. It was Edward. She hesitated for a sec before picking up. "Edward."
"I heard about the bone marrow. Got all our people on it, and I think we'll have something soon."
"Hey, Edward, keep tabs on Vivian too. I got a feeling she's mixed up in this."
Vivian had always been scheming against her, and she was the one who tipped Maud off about the bone marrow donation. Susanna was sure Vivian had her hands dirty in this mess too.
Sure enough, it wasn't long before she got some news.
The bodyguard tailing Vivian found a lead: after work, Vivian didn't head home but went straight to some fancy villa area.
The bodyguard staked out the place but couldn't see who else was inside.
Susanna didn't waste any time. "Keep an eye on that villa. I'm heading over now."
Her gut told her Maud was hiding out there.
She sped towards the villa.
Her bodyguard asked, "Ms. Jones, should we loop in Mr. Abbott?"
Susanna sneered, "Nah, keep him out of it for now."
She didn't trust Aaron, especially since Maud was his mom.
Half an hour later, Susanna's car pulled up outside the villa.
The bodyguard monitoring the place came over to report, "Vivian hasn't left since she went in."
Susanna didn't hesitate and led her bodyguards inside.
Sure enough, in the hall, she saw Vivian and Maud having dinner. Bingo.
They were the brains behind this whole mess.
Susanna walked over, her face like ice. "You two are having a nice dinner at a time like this. Must be in a good mood. Got any good news to share?"
Maud looked guilty. "How did you find this place?"
Wasn't this spot supposed to be safe? How did she get here so fast?
Vivian was shocked too. She'd been super careful. How did they track her?
Weren't they supposed to be looking for Maud? How did they end up tailing her?
Vivian realized she'd underestimated Nova. She was even more formidable than she thought!
Susanna, with a cold face, walked to the dining table and stared at Maud. "Doesn't matter how I found you. Hand over the bone marrow!"
Maud immediately got defensive. "I don't know what you're talking about. Didn't you already take the bone marrow?"
"Maud, if I remember right, you were discharged a while ago. So how do you know I took the bone marrow? Did you have someone switch it?"
"Don't play dumb. I had someone switch the bone marrow because I didn't trust you'd stick to our deal. I was just being cautious. But I was right. As soon as Aaron donated the bone marrow, you had someone take it. You clearly have other plans. How can I trust you'll keep your word?"
Susanna's eyes flashed cold, her face stone-cold. "So you're admitting it?"
"So what if I am? That bone marrow was donated by Aaron. Don't I have the right to handle it?"
"If you don't want to die, hand it over!"
Susanna grabbed a wine bottle from the table and smashed it hard against the dining table.
Instantly, the plates on the table shattered into pieces!
