Chapter 49 Trying to Get You Pregnant?

Aaron looked at the flickering light in the operating room and coldly replied, "The cause is unknown."

Susanna thought about how he had mentioned before that Grandma's health wasn't too good, and it made her heart feel heavy.

She felt impatient. "When will the surgery be done? Why is it still being delayed?"

The man lowered his gaze. "Are you questioning me? Grandma has always refused to have surgery. Don't you know the reason?"
Susanna struggled to close her eyes. "Can't you think of a solution?" she said.

He responded mockingly, "What solution do you want me to think of? Should I get you pregnant?"

She lowered her eyelids and glanced at her small belly without saying a word.

She hesitated about whether or not to tell her grandmother about her pregnancy, so that Grandma Abbott would agree to have the surgery.

She really didn't want anything to happen to Grandma Abbott!

Mrs. Abbott immediately spoke up next to her, "Susanna, stop dreaming. You are not deserving of giving birth to an heir of the Abbotts."

Elaine also chimed in, "Exactly, Susanna has always had this idea, intentionally using it as an excuse to prevent Grandma Abbott from having the surgery, forcing Aaron to impregnate her. How manipulative."

Susanna smirked cynically and looked at the flickering lights in the operating room without saying a word.

She heard Aaron's voice beside her, "Why aren't you saying anything, are you mute?"

She smiled sarcastically and replied, "What do you want me to say? You tell me, I'll follow your lead."

Aaron angrily tugged at his tie. "Is that your attitude?"

"So what attitude do you expect from me? If I agree to grandmother's conditions, you all would say I'm conniving, using grandmother's health as a bargaining chip. If I don't agree to grandmother's conditions, you would say I'm intentionally using her health for my own gain. No matter what I say, you all will never be satisfied!"

Susanna's mood was now quite irritated, and her tone was particularly unpleasant.

Aaron pursed his lips, his face looking particularly displeased. Elaine didn't dare to speak any further upon seeing Aaron's expression.

At this moment, the lights in the operating room turned green.

The doctor came out, and Susanna was the first to speak, "How is it?"

"The situation is not looking good. We should arrange for the surgery as soon as possible."

Susanna looked at the elderly person being pushed out, weakly wearing a breathing machine. She instantly teared up and felt a little sad.

Three years ago, when she had nothing, it was Grandma Abbott who gave her the care and warmth of an elder.

The elderly person was pushed into an upscale private ward, and the people from the Abbotts followed along.

Aaron said coldly, "The rest of you can go home. Don't crowd the room."

Mrs. Abbott also gave some instructions to the other relatives, and one by one, they sent these people away.

Susanna followed into the ward, and not long after, Grandma Abbott woke up, holding her hand without letting go.

With teary eyes, she said, "Grandmother, let's have the surgery, okay?"

The old lady shook her head, her attitude still very resolute.

Susanna felt extremely upset deep down. Should she tell her grandmother the truth or not?

Aaron placed his hand on her shoulder, then looked at the old lady and said, "Grandmother, rest for now. We'll come to see you later."

The old lady blinked her eyes and then fell into a deep sleep again.

Susanna finally left the ward, looking at the old woman lying inside, feeling very heartbroken.
She wiped away her tears and left the hospital straight away. She touched her own belly and needed to think about this matter carefully.

Aaron watched her leave and his gaze was calm.
Mrs. Abbott spoke next to him, "Aaron, listen to me. Quickly divorce this woman and keep everything hidden from your grandmother. Even if she knows the truth after her surgery, there won't be anything she can do."

Aaron's face was stern, "I won't lie to grandma."
He looked at his secretary, "Have you found the doctor you were looking for?"
"We've found them. They are excellent in this field and are willing to come and perform the surgery on the old lady."

"Good, arrange everything as well as possible and make sure they come as soon as possible."
The two women beside Aaron exchanged a glance. Elaine couldn't help but speak up, "Aren't you letting Erica's brother come and perform the surgery on grandma? I heard that he is the best doctor."
"I can't wait that long."

He never fights an unprepared battle.

Elaine felt something was not right. What about Erica?

No, she had to tell Erica about this matter quickly.

Susanna didn't sleep at all that night after returning home. She touched her belly, unable to make a decision.

In the end, she called Daniel, who picked up immediately, "Susanna, what's up? Do you need money?"

Susanna didn't know whether to cry or laugh, "Daniel, I want to consult you about something related to the law."
"Alright, go ahead."
"I have a friend who has been married to her husband for several years. They have agreed to divorce, but she just found out that she's pregnant and doesn't want to talk about it. She wants to keep the child with her."

"That's easy. After the divorce, she can raise the child herself. The father doesn't have the right to decide whether the child stays or not. Usually, the child follows the mother."
Susanna sighed with relief, "But what if the father's family finds out before the divorce proceedings? How can she regain custody?"

If she tells Grandma Abbott about her pregnancy, then everyone in the Abbott family will definitely know about it. It won't be easy for her to take the child away.

"Susanna, is this friend of yours a close friend?"
"Well, our relationship is okay."

"Since she's your good friend, let me help her in court. I guarantee that I'll help your friend regain custody."

Susanna paused, "Alright, I'll let her know. I don't know how to decide specifically."

After hanging up the phone, she didn't feel much happier after hearing Daniel's words.

After all, the Abbotts family has a great position, so the lawyer they hired must be very powerful. If they really go to court, they may not necessarily win.

This is really a headache.

But she couldn't bear to see Grandma Abbott suffering from illness. In the afternoon, Susanna went directly to the private hospital.

Just as she walked out of the elevator, she saw Erica standing in front of Aaron, they were very close, almost hugging each other.

Susanna's footsteps stopped in place: "It seems like I'm not here at the right time."

Aaron looked up and saw her standing next to the elevator. Instinctively, he took a step back and put some distance between him and Erica.

When Erica turned around and saw Susanna, she provocatively said, "It doesn't matter."

Susanna felt a heavy feeling in her chest. She really wanted to turn around and leave, but when she thought about Grandma Abbott's condition, she didn't leave. Instead, she turned around and walked towards them.

Susanna looked at Erica and calmly asked, "When will Grandma Abbott's surgery start?"

Erica's gaze was somewhat evasive, pretending to be calm as she answered, "It will start soon, it depends on many factors."

Susanna knew that Erica was implying something.

She looked up at Aaron and said, "Let's go to the government office now and get a divorce."
