Chapter 464 Feeling Like Death

As soon as Aaron finished talking, the room went dead silent.

The reporters were giving each other those "Did you hear that?" looks. They were dying to know why Aaron just called Susanna his wife.

One reporter couldn't hold back and blurted out, "Mr. Abbott, did you just say Ms. Jones is your wife? Is that for real?"

"Mr. Abbott, were you and Ms. Jones an item before?"

Susanna's eyes darted to Aaron. Was he out of his mind? What was he telling the press?

She shot Aaron a look that screamed, "Shut up!"

Aaron just nodded and said, "Yep, that's right."

Susanna jumped in, "Aaron, what kind of crap are you feeding them? There's nothing between us."

Aaron looked down at her and said, "If there's really nothing, then how did we end up with a kid?"

Susanna went quiet.

The reporters' eyes lit up. They all knew Susanna was divorced and had a kid, but nobody knew who her ex was!

After Aaron's bombshell, they started wondering if Aaron was Susanna's ex-husband. The speculation went wild.

One reporter straight-up asked, "Mr. Abbott, is Ms. Jones your ex-wife?"

Aaron nodded and said, "Yeah, we were hitched for a few years."

The reporters were buzzing with excitement.

So, this was the real deal!

If this got out, tomorrow's headlines were in the bag!

Susanna felt like crap. Aaron was definitely spilling the beans on purpose.

She knew better than anyone how much Aaron valued his privacy.

What was he playing at?

Susanna glared at Aaron, her voice cold. "Mr. Abbott, we ended things a long time ago. What you're saying today is just causing me grief."

Aaron turned to see her fuming, clearly pissed off.

He said calmly, "But to me, we never ended."

The reporters around them gasped.

They hadn't expected that coming to this banquet would not only reveal the Thornberry family's deal with the Abbott Group falling through but also uncover one of Philly's biggest secrets.

The truth was so wild it sounded like something out of a soap opera!

They had thought the hot bodyguard next to Susanna was just some fling. In high society, rich folks' love lives were usually just for kicks.

But now they found out that the so-called bodyguard was actually the president of Lindwell's richest family, the Abbott Group.

The craziest part was that Aaron and Susanna had been married and Aaron was the dad of Susanna's kid.

Hearing Aaron's words, Susanna was so mad she wanted to deck him.

Aaron said that to him, their marriage had never ended.

She hadn't forgotten the look on Aaron's face when he asked for a divorce and told her to take the money and scram. How had he suddenly flipped the script?

Susanna's mouth twitched as she stormed up to Aaron and grabbed his tie.

The reporters' eyes nearly popped out of their heads.

Susanna hissed, "You're really something, you know that?"

He had actually dropped this bombshell in front of the press.

Seeing her so pissed, Aaron wasn't shocked. He leaned in and said, "These people have been spreading crap about you being divorced with a kid. I don't want to see them dragging your name through the mud."

"Aaron, zip it. You came here today to deal with the fake contract with the Thornberry family. Stick to the script and don't spill any more of this personal drama. The media doesn't care about our soap opera."

The reporters nearby were mentally screaming, 'No! We are so into this! Give us more! How else are we gonna write tomorrow's headlines?'

Aaron nodded. "Alright, we'll do it your way. Let's handle the fake contract now. How do you want to play it? You call the shots on the Thornberry family."

"With the Jones family backing me, the Thornberry family can't touch me. I came here just to watch the fireworks between you and them. This has nothing to do with me."

Sam cut in, glaring at Kayle and Roman who were trying to blend into the wallpaper. "What are you two hiding for? Didn't I tell you to apologize?"

Kayle and Roman looked like they'd seen a ghost.

They never expected Aaron was chasing Susanna because she was his ex-wife.

Too much crazy stuff had gone down today, and Kayle was totally floored.

How could Susanna be Aaron's ex-wife?

She had thought Susanna had messed around, gotten knocked up by some lowlife, and had two illegitimate kids.

But who would've guessed Susanna and Aaron had been married and had kids?

This secret had been locked down so tight, no one had a clue.

What now? Susanna was Aaron's ex-wife and had two kids. Aaron definitely wasn't gonna let the Thornberry family off easy. Kayle anxiously looked at Roman. "What do we do? Say something."

Roman was kicking himself.

He hadn't expected Susanna's ex-husband to be Aaron!

But to save their family's company from going under, Roman sucked it up and stepped forward. "Ms. Jones, I was wrong before. Please be the bigger person and let it slide."

Susanna's face stayed icy. "I said I don't need your half-assed apologies."

What she wanted was for the Thornberry family to pay up.

The Thornberry family had been married three times, and three women had been wrecked by them, leading to broken homes.

Sam turned to Kayle and said, "And you, too. If you're gonna apologize, do it right. Otherwise, the Thornberry Corporation will tank, and you'll be out on the streets."

Kayle's face went white. Apologizing to Susanna felt like swallowing glass.
