Chapter 152 Do You Want to Murder Your Husband?
Susanna stood still, glancing at the two men beside her.
One was Dick, the other was Aaron.
She frowned slightly. "You guys, let go first."
But no one moved. Aaron squinted at Dick. "What are you trying to do by holding my cousin's hand?"
Dick quickly released her hand and poured Susanna a glass of soda water, saying, "Susanna, here's some water to refresh your throat."
"Thanks."
Susanna reached for the water and glanced at Aaron's hand. "Aaron, I can stand on my own now."
In other words, he could let go of her hand.
Aaron reluctantly let go, giving Dick a cold glance, feeling that this man was quite an eyesore.
'Isn't she close with Austin? Why does she come to meet the parents with this Dick now?' Aaron wondered.
After drinking a few sips of soda water, Susanna suddenly felt nauseous and rushed to the bathroom outside.
She had been tricked by Harper earlier, thinking it was a low-alcohol fruit cocktail, but it turned out to be whiskey!
After vomiting all the whiskey she had drunk, she felt much better.
Susanna wiped her mouth and came out of the bathroom. The cool breeze outside made her feel dizzy and unsteady.
"Be careful."
Aaron grabbed her arm, steadying her.
Susanna felt extremely dizzy; the aftereffects of the alcohol were overwhelming. Weak and disoriented, she gazed up at Aaron. "Are you happy now?"
She stopped herself from saying the rest of the sentence. 'Forcing me to drink and then expecting an apology!'
Aaron looked down at the drunken woman in his arms, her face flushed, her almond eyes wet and adorable.
She looked quite cute.
Aaron said calmly, "I was just testing Dick for you. Who knew he was so spineless? I told him not to drink for you, and he really didn't have the guts to come."
Susanna bit her lip in anger. "You just wanted to see me drink and then thank you, right?"
Aaron looked down at her, replying, "You could say that."
"Aaron, I didn't expect you to be such a jerk!"
In her anger, Susanna pushed him away, but her legs gave out, causing her to almost fall. Aaron swiftly caught her, pulling her back into his arms, his eyes sullen.
"So what if I'm a jerk? At least I didn't expose our relationship in front of Harper and Dick, saving you from embarrassment," he stated.
He really didn't expect Susanna to be so bold, daring to call him her cousin in front of another man!
He was her legal husband!
Susanna glanced up and mumbled, "There is no relationship between us, alright? And didn't you specifically ask me not to bring up any relationship in front of others? Do you have a memory that lasts only seven seconds, forgetting your own words so quickly?"
Aaron remembered he had indeed instructed Susanna like that before.
He looked at Susanna's round face, especially the small dimple at the corner of her mouth, and felt an urge to touch it.
Thinking so, he actually did it.
He pinched her face, finding it felt just as he imagined. His thin lips curved slightly, but the smile only lasted a few seconds before disappearing.
Susanna felt the pain on her face and turned her head to avoid his hand. "Let go of me. I want to go back now."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes."
Aaron let her go, watching her walk unsteadily.
The next moment, Susanna grabbed Aaron to steady herself; she couldn't fall now!
"Susanna, let go!"
The man's gritted voice came, and Susanna looked up to find she had grabbed his tie, making his face red. He looked quite pitiful.
A hint of amusement flashed in Susanna's eyes. She pretended to be drunk and didn't let go. "Oh, I'm so dizzy, I can't stand straight and I'm going to fall."
Aaron almost couldn't breathe. He pulled Susanna into his arms, remarking, "Susanna, are you trying to kill your husband?"
He almost got strangled to death.
Susanna was held tightly by Aaron, her face pressed against his chest, separated only by his thin shirt. She could almost feel the heat from his body and hear his strong heartbeat.
She was stunned, wondering, 'Why is he holding her so tightly?'
Susanna felt like she couldn't breathe. She attempted to push the man, but his grip on her waist tightened, his voice low and hoarse. "Don't move," he commanded firmly.
As the tone grew more menacing, Susanna's breathing became erratic, a sense of fear creeping over her as she dreaded what might happen next.
She quickly pretended to be drunk, mumbling, "I want to go home. You bad guy, let me go home!"
Aaron endured the discomfort in his neck and patiently coaxed her. "Okay, don't move, I'll take you home soon."
Susanna thought Aaron would get angry and let her go so she could go back by herself.
Unexpectedly, he wasn't angry and even spoke so gently.
'Is he still the Aaron I knew?'
At this moment, Dick's voice came from the side. "Susanna, are you okay?"
Hearing Dick's voice, Susanna paused. Since she was pretending to be drunk, should she respond or not?
She instinctively tried to look over, but a big hand pressed her head back into Aaron's chest. She glanced at him, wondering what he meant.
Aaron, protecting the drunken woman in his arms, looked back at Dick. "She's drunk, and I'll take her home."
"Is Susanna really drunk? I'm sorry. My mom mixed up the drinks and mistook whiskey for a fruit cocktail."
Dick had just found out that Susanna drank whiskey, which had a high alcohol content and strong aftereffects.
Aaron's eyes flashed with anger. No wonder Susanna was so drunk; even with a low tolerance, it wouldn't be this bad.
Aaron, holding Susanna, walked past Dick and said indifferently, "Next time, be cautious before offering drinks."
Dick looked embarrassed. "Sorry, Mr. Abbott, it was an accident. My mom doesn't understand the packaging of these drinks."
Aaron ignored Dick and took Susanna to the elevator.
Susanna was held tightly by the man, unable to move, let alone look at Dick.
Hearing Aaron's protective words, she felt a strange sensation in her heart.
As the elevator doors closed, Dick turned back to the dining room.
Harper stood up, asking, "Dick, where are they? Where's Susanna?"
