Chapter 556 Aaron Fell into an Emotional Crisis
Susanna heard Brian's voice and snapped back to reality. "Brian, is that you? I thought I got into Arthur's car?"
Brian replied, "Looks like you were a bit out of it earlier. What's going on? Are you into Michael?"
"Not really. I just didn't expect him to still have feelings for me after all these years. Michael confessed to me back then, but I told him I couldn't think about personal stuff until Charles got better." Back then, she really didn't have any other thoughts.
"Now that Charles is healthy and out of the hospital, what's your plan?"
"I haven't really thought about it yet. Let's talk about it later." Susanna looked out the window and fell silent. For some reason, Aaron's face popped into her mind.
Meanwhile, Aaron's car was already waiting outside the research institute. He noticed the Jones Family's car parked at the gate. He had arrived super early, even before the research institute opened.
Aaron watched as Charles walked out holding Michael's hand, realizing he had seen Charles before, which was why he felt a sense of familiarity last time.
Sam was stunned. "Charles looks just like you. How did you not recognize him back then?"
Aaron fell silent. Mainly because he hadn't expected Susanna to have boy-girl twins.
Soon, the Jones Family picked up Charles. Aaron didn't say a word the whole time. It wasn't until the Jones Family's car drove away that his gaze fell on Michael.
Michael stood at the entrance and suddenly looked in the direction of Aaron's car, his eyes becoming particularly intense. He looked at the car parked in the corner that had been there for a while.
Soon, that car also left, shortly after the Jones Family had departed. A thoughtful look flashed in his eyes. Could it be Aaron who came?
In the car, Aaron looked ahead. "Remember to arrange for someone to deliver the telescope."
Sam was full of curiosity. "How did you negotiate with my dad? He agreed so quickly to send the telescope over by helicopter?"
Aaron's thin lips parted slightly. "He wanted the development rights for the land in Eastside."
"You gave it to him?"
"Yeah."
Sam gasped and sat up straight. "Is it still possible for me to buy a limited edition telescope now?" The development rights for the land in Eastside were highly coveted. If obtained, the future profits could exceed five billion dollars.
Sam took a sip of mineral water to calm himself. "Aaron, have you lost your mind?" He felt that Aaron had changed.
Aaron pinched the bridge of his nose, his voice low. "Honestly, I wouldn't have believed it myself before." Maybe having a child made him realize such changes.
Sam nodded. "I don't have kids, so I can't relate to what you're saying. But now that Charles has been taken to the Jones Family, you need to be careful. Michael is his lifesaver. What if the Jones Family tries to match Susanna and Michael, and they end up together?"
Hearing this, Aaron felt a bit suffocated. He opened his eyes and looked coldly at Sam. "Can you not bring up the worst-case scenario?"
"Aaron, you should probably hit up Lillian later to get the lowdown on the Jones Family tonight."
"I don't need you to tell me that."
As evening rolled in, Aaron was getting antsy. He couldn't resist texting Lillian: [What are you up to?]
But there was no immediate reply, and Aaron felt even more on edge. He yanked at his tie and stood by the floor-to-ceiling window, staring at the city lights. He could almost picture the buzz at the Jones Villa, but none of it involved him. Aaron's silhouette looked a bit lonely.
Soon, his phone beeped. Aaron almost instinctively stubbed out his cigarette and rushed to grab his phone. His hands were actually trembling, and his heartbeat quickened.
He opened WhatsApp, only to find it wasn't a reply from Lillian but a group notification to all members. He was immediately frustrated and angrily left the group.
Aaron, frustrated, put his phone aside and rubbed his temples, feeling like he wasn't himself anymore. If it were before, he wouldn't have believed any of this.
Meanwhile, the Jones Mansion was bustling, with servants preparing for the family dinner tonight. Susanna was in Charles's room, helping move all the gifts to another room.
She knew that, given Charles's personality, he wouldn't like having so many things piled up in his room. But in the end, Charles still kept a few items he liked.
Susanna noticed a rather large telescope that looked quite nice. She knew Charles liked stargazing, so the family had bought him a telescope. She had also looked into these telescope brands, but she didn't recognize the one in Charles's room.
A gift chosen by Charles from so many must be special. Susanna glanced at the telescope and asked, "Why did you keep this particular telescope?"
Charles replied, "It has great performance, easy to operate, and it's a limited edition."
Susanna nodded. She had looked into it before but couldn't buy it. After all, these limited editions were like designer bags to enthusiasts, often requiring a scramble to purchase.
Susanna saw Charles unwrapping gifts in his room and left for the main hall. Aviana looked at her and asked, "How is Charles adjusting?"
"He's fine. This is his home, after all. There's nothing to adjust to. He just didn't like having so many things in his room, so the servants cleared them out. He'll be down soon. But Aviana, who bought that telescope?"
Edward spoke up. "I bought one, and it seems others did too. But I'm sure Charles will like the one I got."
Thinking about it, Edward was a bit annoyed. He could have bought the telescope for Charles alone, but his brothers had to compete and also bought telescopes. They even made bets on whose telescope Charles would keep. It was infuriating.
Brian, looking gossipy, said, "So, whose telescope did Charles keep? It must be mine. I know best what kind of telescope Charles likes. I even asked my friends to get it. It's a limited edition from before. You can't buy it with money. Your expensive telescopes are nothing special, not rare at all."
Susanna suddenly realized. "So the black and white one is yours?"
Brian replied in surprise, "No, the one I bought is gray."
