Chapter 179 Picking Susanna Up from School

Aaron's eyes were cold as ice. He needed to make sure that hypocrite Dick had no time or energy to bother Susanna. Breaking his leg would serve as a harsh warning.

He coughed and asked, "Where is she?"

Tyler hesitated. "Who?"

Aaron's expression turned a bit unnatural. "Susanna."

This assistant was getting more clueless by the day.

"Oh, Mrs. Abbott. What do you want to know about her?"

"Is this all the information you have? Susanna can definitely see this post. Has she reacted?" Aaron asked.

Didn't Susanna mention last time that she wasn't fond of Dick?

Tyler felt a bit troubled. "We're still on a business trip, after all. I don't know Mrs. Abbott well, so I don't know her reaction."

He braced himself and said, "Mr. Abbott, actually, you could ask Mrs. Abbott directly."

"Your bonus for this month has been deducted," Aaron said.

If he could ask Susanna, why would he be asking Tyler?

Tyler paused, wondering what the bonus had done to deserve being deducted.

Aaron took out his phone and glanced at it. Finally, his eyes fell on Susanna's WhatsApp. He couldn't help but click into her Moments and saw her post from this morning: [I hate people who go back on their word!]

Aaron's eyes narrowed slightly. He sensed that she was insinuating something about him.

What did she mean by him going back on his word?

He commented under her post: [I hate people who are not punctual.]

After he posted the comment, he saw Susanna update her Moments again: [The sunset at school is beautiful today!]

Aaron saw the photo she posted. The sunset was indeed beautiful.

His eyes narrowed slightly. Susanna seemed to be in a good mood. She was being slandered, yet she was still so happy?

Immediately following Susanna's Moments post, she came across Aaron's mocking comment, which left her seething with anger, causing tremors to course through her being.

Susanna had a reason for being late; it wasn't intentional. She had rushed over as quickly as possible. Was he so eager to get a divorce that he couldn't even wait an hour?

Fuming, she called Aaron directly, determined to get an explanation.

On the other end, when Aaron saw her call, his lips curved slightly. She called so quickly; she must be really angry!

He answered the call calmly, and her angry voice came through. "Aaron, what do you mean by that?"

Aaron maintained his calm tone, replying, "Just what it says."

"You were so eager to get divorced immediately, so why, when the opportunity arose today, couldn't you even wait an hour?" Susanna interrogated.

This was what Susanna couldn't understand.

Hearing this, Aaron's expression became a bit unnatural, but his tone remained calm. "I can wait, but can you make a plane wait for someone? I'm rushing for a business trip; I don't have time to wait for you that long."

"You're on a business trip? You're not in Crestview?"

"What else?"

"When will you be back?" Susanna asked.

Aaron knew what she meant by this question. He answered vaguely, "Not sure, it depends on the situation."

Susanna pursed her lips, uttering, "Then let me know when you get back, and we'll reschedule a time to get divorced."

Aaron's anticipated joy failed to materialize, prompting him to cast his gaze downward as he replied with a composed demeanor.

Susanna hung up abruptly, cursing Aaron repeatedly in her mind. She hadn't anticipated that he would be on a business trip today and unable to spare just an hour for her.

She touched her lower abdomen, feeling the slight bulge, nurturing two little lives. She recalled that when Maria had surgery a few days ago, Elaine came to check if she was pregnant. Although she managed to fool Elaine, she wasn't sure when Elaine might do something foolish. Susanna hoped Elaine would be smart.

At that moment, Susanna received a WhatsApp message from Brian: [Susanna, I'm here to pick you up from school!!!]

Seeing this message, she smiled. No matter what was going on with Elaine, she could always leave early and move to Novaria.

Susanna: [I'm coming out now.]

Brian glanced at his phone and smiled at Austin. "Susanna said she's coming out now. I've never picked her up from school before. Do you think she'll like the gift I prepared for her?"

Austin glanced at the gift in the back seat and suddenly fell silent. He wanted to remind him that Susanna was already an adult, not a kindergarten kid.

After trying to persuade him all the way without success, Austin simply got out of the car to avoid seeing it.

As soon as Austin got out of the car, he saw a familiar face—Dick. Seeing the red roses in Dick's hand, Austin's eyes narrowed slightly. Could these roses be for Susanna?

Austin had noticed before that Dick liked Susanna and was always attentive to her. If it weren't for the fact that Dick had saved Susanna when she was kidnapped by her foster parents, Austin would have made sure Dick stayed away from Susanna long ago.

Dick was pacing at the school gate when he suddenly felt a cold gaze. He looked up and saw Austin.

Dick's eyes lit up. If he couldn't win over Susanna, winning over Austin would be just as good.

With this thought, Dick immediately walked over to Austin. "Hello, Mr. Jones. Are you here to pick up Susanna?"

Austin responded coldly, "And you? Are those roses for your girlfriend?"

Dick deliberately showed a shy smile, saying, "To be honest, these roses are for Susanna. I didn't expect to run into you, Austin. I've always liked Susanna and want to take care of her for the rest of my life. I hope you can agree."

Hearing Dick's confession, Austin felt a bit uncomfortable and wanted to punch someone.

The next second, Brian's cold voice came through. "What makes you think you can take care of Susanna for the rest of her life?"

Brian had been happily planning a surprise for Susanna when he suddenly overheard a man outside declaring that he wanted to take care of Susanna for the rest of his life.

What a hypocritical promise from a man. He himself had made such promises countless times but never meant them!

Brian knew men's true nature all too well.

Seeing a particularly handsome man appear, Dick quickly explained, "You must be Susanna's brother too. It's our first meeting, so you don't know me well. I admire Susanna greatly and wish to care for her always."

"And how do you plan to take care of her for the rest of her life? Do you make over a million dollars a year?" Brian asked.
