Chapter 577 There Are So Many Shameless People

Susanna knew what Maya was up to the second she laid eyes on her. But why was Maya back in the evening when Madison had already turned her away in the morning?

Susanna noticed Maya wasn't alone. She had brought along a guy named Cecil Marshall and his mom, Selene Peterson.

And judging by the way Cecil was eyeing her, Susanna didn't need a crystal ball to figure out who he was. How could there be such an inconsiderate neighbor?

"Ms. Jones, you're back! We've been waiting for you," Maya said, jumping up with way too much enthusiasm. "This is the friend I told you about, and her son. Isn't he handsome? I'm doing this for your own good, especially since I'm so close to Madison."

Susanna shot a blank look at Charles and Lillian. "You two, head back to your room."

"No need. They even brought gifts for the kids, expensive chocolates that only rich folks eat."

Selene, catching Maya's cue, chimed in arrogantly, "That's right, come and have some. You probably haven't had such good stuff before. It's really pricey."

Susanna glanced at the candies on the table. They were branded fruit candies, but not that fancy. After all, the candies Charles and Lillian usually had were handmade by Aviana, using top-notch ingredients.

Susanna said coolly, "No need. These candies aren't very healthy. I usually don't let the kids eat them."

Lillian looked up innocently and said, "Mom, Edward said we shouldn't eat this junk candy. It'll mess up our teeth."

Charles, with a serious face, added, "This kind of candy wouldn't even make it to our table."

Their words made Maya and Selene's faces twist in annoyance. Selene, clearly ticked off, snapped at Cecil, "Why are you just sitting there?" A woman like Susanna was definitely not a fit for their family.

Cecil got up and eagerly extended his hand to Susanna. "Ms. Jones, nice to meet you. I have a great first impression of you. I think we should get to know each other better. You'll see there are good men out there besides your ex-husband."

Susanna's mouth twitched. She had never met such a shameless guy. She just stared at Cecil. "Sorry, I'm not interested in relationships, nor do I want to go on a blind date with you."

"If not a blind date, at least get to know me. You won't lose anything."

Susanna figured it was best to be blunt with people like this. "I have no interest in getting to know you. It's late, please leave now."

Selene, fuming, said, "Ms. Jones, why are you being so rude? You're divorced with two kids. Do you think you can compete with single women? Do you think just because your ex-husband is rich, you can find another wealthy man? You're worthless now."

Susanna shot back, "By that logic, your son is so old now, he must be worthless too."

"What kind of attitude is that?"

"I've already turned down the blind date. It's you who shamelessly came over. What kind of attitude do you expect from me?"

After Susanna finished speaking, Maya quickly chimed in, "Ms. Jones, don't say that. I'm just worried about you."

"No wonder you're friends. You're both so stubborn!"

Maya was taken aback by Susanna's harsh words and could only look at Madison for support. "I'm just trying to help her. It's tough raising kids alone."

Madison stood up and said, "I think Susanna is right. I told you this morning she doesn't need a blind date. She makes good money and doesn't need to rely on any man."

Selene said, "That's not entirely true."

"Then what is? Look at the guy you introduced. He doesn't even make as much money as her. What makes him worthy of her?" Usually calm, Madison was instantly furious hearing Selene insult Susanna.

Selene, not backing down, said, "Susanna is just a designer. How could she make so much money? Who knows what shady channels she used? After all, for a woman to make that much money without any background, what could she rely on to get projects?"

Madison, fuming, said, "What do you mean? Susanna earns money with her skills. Who are you to say that about her? Just because your son can't make money doesn't mean others can't."

"Who knows what's going on? Everyone knows that designers can't make that much money. My son is willing to overlook everything and go on a blind date with her. That's already showing Susanna some respect. If she can turn over a new leaf, marry my son, and have twins, I might reluctantly agree to them being together."

Madison, hands on her hips, said, "How shameless you are! You always say your former daughter-in-law couldn't get pregnant, but her health checks out fine. Maybe it's your son who has the problem."

Selene, enraged, lunged to hit her. "Shut up, Madison. How dare you talk to me like that?"

Seeing Madison getting hit, Susanna rushed to intervene, but Cecil pushed her aside, causing her to hit the sofa.

Hearing the commotion, Charles and Lillian ran out, with Lillian bursting into tears. Charles grabbed a weapon and charged at Cecil, but the strength difference was too great.

Susanna was extremely anxious. "Stop it!"

At that moment, several people burst through the door. Aaron stepped forward and kicked Cecil away, scooping Charles into his arms. He looked down at Charles. "Are you okay? Where did he hit you?" His voice was cold and urgent.

Charles looked at him blankly, then said angrily, "He hit Mom."

Aaron turned to Susanna and then approached her. "Are you hurt?"

"It's nothing, just a minor injury. Madison is hurt too." Susanna helped Madison up. "Are you okay?"

Madison had a cut on her face and was holding her waist, probably sprained.Selene got up from the floor and looked at Susanna and Aaron. "Here comes the rich guy. I must have been right. There's no way a designer can make that much money legitimately."

Seeing Aaron, Cecil felt a bit inferior due to Aaron's good looks. Unwilling to give up, Cecil said to Aaron, "Don't be fooled by this woman. She's trying to hook up with you while going on a blind date with me."
