Chapter 333 Charles's Resemblance to Aaron
Susanna stared at Charles, and damn, he looked just like Aaron! Especially those eyes, they were like twins.
Sam's words kept echoing in her head, making her all kinds of suspicious. Could it be? Was Aaron the ex-husband she’d been hunting for?
The truth smacked her in the face—she looked a lot like Aaron's ex-wife. Had she been wrong this whole time? It was the only thing that made sense!
Susanna rolled her eyes at the ceiling, feeling like a total idiot for mixing people up.
Now it clicked why Aaron had been giving her those weird looks from the get-go. And that time with the meds—she joked about trading them for a date, and Aaron shot her down hard!
Thinking about all this, Susanna's brain was a mess. Aaron probably thought she was playing some hard-to-get game. But she legit didn’t remember the past.
Once Lillian was out cold, Susanna snuck out of the bedroom and headed to the suite's living room. When Abel walked in, she locked eyes with him and asked, "Find anything yet?"
Abel hesitated, then said, "Ms. Jones, we haven't found Mrs. Abbott's photo yet. It'll take a bit."
"How long is 'a bit'?"
"I'll get someone on it ASAP."
Susanna leaned back on the couch, raising an eyebrow. "Let me guess, you'll find it once the storm outside chills out?"
Seeing Abel's shocked face, Susanna decided to cut to the chase. "I know the truth, Abel. No more secrets. Aaron's ex-wife looks just like me!"
Abel, looking nervous, said, "Ms. Jones, I had no choice. Mr. Edward said not to let you contact anyone from the Abbott family."
Susanna was bluffing, but she didn’t expect Abel to spill the beans. Her heart sank as she asked, "So Aaron's the one I’m looking for, not Sam?"
"Yes."
Susanna rubbed her temples, frustrated. "Then why didn’t you tell me from the start?"
"The psychologist wanted to try desensitization therapy to see if you'd remember the past," Abel explained.
Susanna went silent. How dare they use her as a lab rat? She’d deal with that shrink later!
She pulled herself together and asked sternly, "Did you tell Edward I ran into my ex-husband here?"
Abel, sweating bullets, nodded. "Yes, we don’t want you getting hurt, Ms. Jones."
"What did Edward say?"
"With the airport shut down because of the storm, Mr. Edward will probably send someone to get you once the weather clears," Abel said.
Susanna wasn’t shocked by Edward’s move. Her brothers were super protective, especially about her forgotten marriage. They never brought it up, scared it’d mess her up. But she wasn’t about to let anyone push her around.
Feeling all kinds of emotions, Susanna glared at Abel. "Did they treat me like crap after I married into the Abbott family?"
"Ms. Jones, before the Jones family brought you back, you came from a regular background. You know how it is with rich families and their rules," Abel replied.
Susanna rubbed her temples, thinking about all the stuff she dug up about Mrs. Abbott earlier. She was totally floored.
"Wait, if I came from a regular background, how the heck did I end up marrying into the Abbott family?" she asked, all confused.
Abel replied softly, "It was because of an accident. Mr. Abbott was really sick, and Maria brought you in to help take care of him."
Susanna's cold smile showed she got how tough it was for regular folks to marry into rich families.
She'd heard that before Edward and the others found her, her foster parents were total jerks, and her life sucked.
A dark look flashed in Susanna's eyes. Since her brothers faked her death to get her away from the Abbott family, they should be happy. But Aaron seemed off. Was it guilt driving him?
Sitting with her legs crossed and looking all cool, Susanna's thoughts sharpened. "Looks like things are about to get interesting." She also wanted to know what Aaron was after!
Seeing Susanna's expression, Abel knew someone was in for it. He cautiously said, "Ms. Jones, your psychologist suggested you stay away from the Abbott family."
"But didn't he say I should do desensitization therapy? I think getting in touch with Aaron directly might work better," Susanna shot back.
Abel was speechless!
Susanna looked up. "Oh, and don't tell Edward about this for now. I need a break from his constant calls."
After Abel left, Susanna started plotting her revenge. No way was she gonna let this humiliation slide!
She pulled out her suitcase, filled with bright and sexy clothes, totally different from her usual classy style.
Finally, she asked Abel to get her a conservative outfit and then shot a message to Aaron: [Mr. Abbott, dinner 2nite? Same plc as b4?]
As the minutes ticked by with no reply from Aaron, Susanna kept her cool. Dealing with Aaron needed patience, something she had down to a science. Meanwhile, Aaron was stunned by Susanna's dinner invite. The unexpected message left him dazed, caught off guard by her directness.
Sam, curious, asked, "Aaron, who messaged you?"
"Take a guess."
"Ms. Ramirez?"
Aaron put down his phone, thought for a bit, and said, "Do you think she’s Susanna?"
"Aaron, I’m not sure anymore. If she didn’t mistake me for her ex-husband, I’d say no. But she clearly thought I was you," Sam replied.
Aaron found it all super weird too.
"Aaron, maybe she lost her memory or is faking it and doesn’t remember us," Sam suggested, thinking it was the most likely scenario.
Aaron suddenly stood up, adjusted his clothes in front of the mirror, looking all mature and handsome.
Sam, surprised, asked, "Aaron, where are you going?"
"On a date." Aaron tossed out the words and left, curious to see what she was up to.
He headed straight to the top floor, where they had dinner last time.
As Aaron walked into the glass room, he saw a woman standing by the floor-to-ceiling window. She had golden hair and was dressed in a simple T-shirt and denim skirt.
In that moment, his eyes widened. "Susanna?" Aaron asked, almost in disbelief. Could it really be her standing there?
