Chapter 173 The Cousin Appeared Again
Susanna overheard the younger students nearby making fun and felt irritated. They had no clue about the situation and were just causing a scene.
She glanced at Dick with a hint of uncertainty, while Dick's eyes gleamed with anticipation. "Susanna, is there anything you're still unsure about?"
Susanna thought of the scene she saw in the cafeteria yesterday at noon. "Dick, don't you already have a girlfriend?"
At least he had a date, and they had even met the parents.
Dick quickly denied it. "Susanna, I don't have a girlfriend. You misunderstood."
At that moment, a group of people appeared in the corridor of the office building next door.
Aaron happened to be standing in the corridor and saw Susanna standing outside the building with a man kneeling on one knee in front of her. From the back, the man looked a lot like Dick from Epic Horizon.
The principal smiled and said, "Mr. Abbott, public confessions like this are common on college campuses. It's all part of youth."
Aaron's eyes narrowed slightly. "Yeah, it's common. But confessing to my wife, what’s that supposed to mean?"
As soon as Aaron finished speaking, the principal's expression froze. He wiped his reading glasses and looked over. Sure enough, the girl standing there was Susanna.
The principal vaguely recalled the last time there were rumors about Susanna being kept by someone, Mr. Abbott had slammed the marriage certificate on his desk, confirming their marital status.
However, the Abbott family had asked for confidentiality, so no one knew that Aaron's wife was a student at this college.
The principal took out a tissue to wipe the sweat from his forehead. "I'll have security clear the scene right away."
'Who is that guy? How dare he confess to Aaron's wife? He's seriously overestimating himself,' the principal wondered.
Downstairs, Susanna noticed more and more people gathering to watch, and she felt a bit embarrassed.
She hadn't expected Dick's sudden move, catching her off guard. She thought she had made things clear with him before.
Susanna felt that this couldn't continue. She gazed at Dick in front of her and said, "Dick, I'm married."
After she said it, Dick was obviously stunned. "Susanna, this is the second time you've used that excuse to turn me down."
"Dick, I'm not joking with you. I really am married. I'm not lying to you."
Seeing Susanna's expression, Dick felt she didn't seem to be making excuses or lying. Could she be telling the truth?
Observing his skeptical expression, Susanna continued, "I took a three-year break from school because I got married. I only came back to study after the divorce."
"So that's how it is," murmured Dick, his expression turning a bit ugly.
He hadn't expected Susanna to really have been divorced. He had always thought she was joking.
But then he thought of Susanna's wealthy brother, who could easily come up with millions of dollars. He felt tempted again. So what if she was divorced? At least she had money.
Dick quickly weighed the pros and cons and said loudly, "Susanna, whether you've been divorced or not doesn't affect my feelings for you! It doesn't change my determination to be with you! I should thank your ex-husband for leaving such a good girl for me."
Susanna was stunned by Dick's response.
She hadn't expected him to say that. Based on what Harper had said before, she thought Dick definitely couldn't accept a divorced woman.
Immediately, the people around started cheering. "Say yes, say yes."
"He doesn't even mind that you've been divorced. Why are you hesitating?"
"Yeah, he is so romantic. Say yes, say yes. Why hesitate with such a good man?"
Hearing these words, Dick showed a smug expression. He had pursued many girls over the years and had almost never failed.
Now, pursuing Susanna was no different. He finally understood why Susanna had been evading his advances. It appeared that she felt inferior because of her divorce and was hesitant to reciprocate his feelings.
Thinking this, Dick felt confident about his chances this time.
As long as he married Susanna and got her brother to invest in and support his Epic Horizon, he could always trade up wives once he achieved success.
Susanna looked troubled. Although it was hard to refuse in front of so many people, she still wanted to make things clear to avoid further misunderstandings.
She took a deep breath and said, "Dick, you're a good person, but we're really not suitable..."
Before she could finish, a few security guards arrived and dispersed the onlookers.
One of the security guards took a fire extinguisher and sprayed it on Dick's lit candles, making a mess of the scene.
Dick glared at the security personnel, interrogating, "What are you doing? Can't you see we're busy here?"
As a prominent figure at the school, Dick had become somewhat arrogant after returning. Having his confession scene ruined by security made him feel humiliated, so he lashed out at them.
The security guard remained calm. "We're just following the rules. The school doesn't allow any dangerous activities."
Dick shouted angrily, "What rules? Don't mess things up for me now."
However, the security guard showed no mercy and swept all the extinguished candles into the trash can, disregarding Dick completely.
Seeing this, Dick became even angrier. "What are you doing? Do you believe I can get you all fired with a word to the principal?"
The security guard replied, "This was arranged by the principal."
Dick paused. "That's impossible!"
"There's nothing impossible about it. I instructed it," the principal confessed.
At this moment, the principal walked over, and most of the students around had dispersed.
Susanna looked up and noticed, besides the principal, a few men in suits. Among them, the man standing next to the principal stood out the most, his strikingly handsome features resembling a unique landscape on the campus.
It was Aaron.
Aaron's eyes narrowed slightly, and a hint of displeasure flashed in his eyes. "Ethan, it seems your school's safety awareness needs improvement."
Ethan's demeanor shifted abruptly as he clarified, "Our school has always prohibited such dangerous activities. It is truly disheartening that someone knowingly chose to defy the rules. Dick, as a distinguished alumnus, how could you possibly set such a negative precedent?"
Ethan quickly shifted all the blame to Dick, who had to take the fall this time. Otherwise, the school couldn't bear such a heavy responsibility.
Upon spotting Aaron, Dick's expression turned uneasy. "I did this today to confess to Susanna. This isn't something I typically do. Mr. Abbott, I hope you can understand. After all, Susanna is your cousin."
Aaron smirked, "Who told you Susanna is my cousin?"
