Chapter 205 Mrs. Abbott's Divorce Lawyer
After Susanna finished talking, she noticed Erica and Elaine's faces had changed.
Elaine was almost shaking with anger. "You didn't call the cops?"
"Yep, just messing with you."
Elaine jumped up, fuming. "Susanna, I'm gonna fight you! Do you know how hard I worked to get those lanterns up there? And now you tell me you didn't call the police?"
Susanna took a few steps back. "You should be thanking me for not actually calling 911. Could you have moved everything in time if I had? Did my call or no call really change anything today?"
Elaine was left speechless, realizing she'd been played.
Erica was also mad but too tired to argue. She stood up, holding her high heels. "Elaine, let's go. My back is killing me."
Elaine grumbled, "Same here. My feet are covered in blisters. I need a massage."
Erica waved her off. "Let's go, no point staying here."
Elaine shot Susanna a nasty look. "Susanna, don't get too smug. Just wait!"
"Take care, come back soon!"
As Susanna watched them leave, she almost burst out laughing, especially seeing them slump over from exhaustion. It was so satisfying.
'Let's see if they dare to mess with me again,' Susanna thought.
Susanna was busy prepping the grand hall and had no time for these two. She actually hoped they wouldn't come back; if they did, she wouldn't hold back!
As she looked over the VIP invitation list for the event, her eyes landed on Aaron's name. She was surprised to see it, given how busy he always was. She doubted he'd have time for a school concert.
Meanwhile, at Abbott Group...
Aaron had just finished a meeting and was giving instructions to his assistant. Back in his office, Tyler approached him. "Mr. Abbott, the university sent you a concert invitation."
Aaron glanced at it, his eyes narrowing. "Isn't this music group from Brian's company?"
Tyler nodded. "Yes."
Aaron looked at the invitation again. "What's this concert got to do with Susanna?"
He remembered seeing Susanna and Brian leaving a hotel together once.
Tyler hesitated. "According to what I found out, Mrs. Abbott is in charge of setting up the grand hall for this event, and her design was approved without any changes."
Aaron's face darkened. He didn't expect Brian to be so good at chasing women.
Just then, there was a knock, and someone entered. "Mr. Abbott, someone is here to see you."
Aaron's eyes narrowed. "Who?"
"He says he's Daniel, Mrs. Abbott's attorney."
Hearing that, Aaron's lips pressed into a thin line, and the room's temperature seemed to drop. "Let him in."
Tyler's scalp tingled, wondering why all these people were showing up one after another.
Daniel, in a dark suit and carrying a briefcase, walked into the office. Wearing gold-rimmed glasses, he calmly assessed Aaron.
Aaron sat in his chair, quietly observing Daniel.
The two men sized each other up before Daniel handed over his business card. "I'm an attorney from Novaria Vista Legal Associates. I'm here on behalf of Ms. Susanna to discuss your divorce."
Aaron glanced at the card, then at Daniel. "What does she want to discuss?"
Daniel placed a stack of documents on the table. "This is the property division agreement for the divorce. It outlines the asset distribution. Feel free to review it."
Aaron didn't even look at the documents. "Didn't she say she wanted nothing and would leave with nothing? Why the change of heart now?"
'Not only is she changing her mind, but she's brought in a top lawyer to negotiate with me! Susanna, you really are something,' Aaron thought, sneering quietly.
Daniel realized that Susanna truly had no interest in any assets, but as a lawyer, he believed Aaron must pay the price.
Daniel's tone was calm. "None of that matters. If you want a smooth divorce, it's best to look at these documents. Or if you have no objections, just sign them."
Aaron coldly took the documents, didn't even glance at the contents, and signed the last page.
He tossed the documents back to Daniel, squinting. "Tell Susanna, if she changes her mind again, don't blame me for being ruthless!"
Daniel raised an eyebrow. "Are you sure you don't want to take a look?"
"Nothing worth seeing," Aaron replied bluntly.
Daniel nodded, placed a copy on Aaron's desk. "Then according to the agreement, please start processing the paperwork in the next few days."
Aaron stared at the documents and casually tossed them to his assistant. "You handle it."
After packing up, Daniel glanced at Aaron. "Although Susanna wasted three years of her life marrying you, in terms of the divorce property division, you still count as a man."
Aaron didn't take it as a compliment.
After Daniel left, Tyler took a quick look at the agreement and broke out in a cold sweat. "Boss, are you sure you don't want to look at this?"
'You're about to go bankrupt, you know?' Tyler thought.
Meanwhile, after finishing her work at the school, Susanna checked the time and headed home for dinner.
She was exhausted and needed to rest early to continue tomorrow.
As Susanna walked out of the school, she saw a car parked by the roadside. Daniel got out. "Susanna, come over."
"Daniel, what are you doing here?"
Susanna walked over cheerfully, and Daniel handed her a box of snacks. "Have something to eat. There will be some traffic on the way."
"Thanks, Daniel."
When Susanna sat in the passenger seat, she noticed a briefcase. "Daniel, did you handle some work?"
"Yes, a divorce case," Daniel replied.
He calmly drove away, glancing at Susanna. "You can open it and take a look."
Susanna's hand paused, a sudden sense of unease washing over her.
She carefully extracted the documents from the briefcase and her eyes fell upon the words "Divorce Property Division Agreement." As she scanned through the details, a wave of anxiety gripped her, causing her to break out in a cold sweat.
