Chapter 340 The Avenger: She Is Always Seeking Retribution
At that moment, Vivian legit thought she was a goner.
Sam rushed over to stop Aaron. "Dude, chill out," he said, trying to calm him down.
Aaron finally let go, his face ice-cold, and stormed off. Vivian clutched her neck, gasping for air.
Sam sighed, "Vivian, you know Aaron can't get over Susanna. Why'd you have to push his buttons?"
Back in her room, Susanna glanced at the peacefully sleeping Lillian before hopping into a hot shower. Thoughts of Aaron rushing to save Vivian swirled in her mind, a smirk playing on her lips, until she felt dizzy.
Gripping the sink, she closed her eyes, flashes of faces and places whizzing by. One face stood out, oddly familiar. When she opened her eyes, a faint memory stirred, hinting at something from the past.
The next morning, Susanna woke up to find Lillian snuggled up next to her. "Mommy, you're awake. How'd your test go last night?" Lillian asked in her sweet, innocent voice.
Seeing the anticipation in Lillian's eyes, Susanna took a moment before speaking. "Lillian, I need to tell you something. But no tears, okay?"
"Mommy, did Uncle Aaron fail the test?"
Susanna stroked Lillian's cheek. "Lillian, we might've been wrong. Sam's not your dad."
Lillian's eyes widened in shock. "Mommy, then who is my dad?"
Susanna pulled out a family photo and showed it to Lillian. "See anyone who looks like your brother?"
Lillian looked closely and gasped. "Brother looks a lot like Uncle Aaron."
Susanna nodded. "So we were wrong from the start. He's your dad. Sam isn't."
Lillian's eyes flickered with mixed emotions as she glanced at Susanna. "Mommy, is Uncle Aaron really the 'bad dad'?"
Lillian always believed Aaron was a good guy. Her heart wanted him to be her dad. But Susanna's revelation left her feeling a mix of joy and sadness.
Susanna hugged Lillian and kissed her forehead. "I'm sorry, I let you down."
"Mommy, you didn't let me down," Lillian whispered, tears welling up in her eyes. "Mommy, why did Uncle leave us back then?"
Susanna's mind drifted to Vivian, making her pause before answering. "He probably had someone else in his life. I was just an ordinary girl, and rich families didn't like my background back then."
Lillian, having grown up in the Jones family, had seen and heard a lot. Finally, she pouted. "Mommy, then I decide not to let him be my daddy."
Susanna patted Lillian's head. "I'll find you another daddy, I promise, okay?"
They played on the bed for a while before Susanna got up and opened the hotel curtains. Seeing the clear sky outside, she said softly, "The rain has stopped."
The nonstop rain finally let up after days, meaning Susanna and Lillian could soon bounce out of Radiant Valley.
Susanna changed her clothes and took Lillian downstairs for breakfast.
As they were picking out food, Lillian suddenly looked up and to the side. "Mommy, look! It's bad dad."
Susanna's face went stiff when she spotted Aaron and Sam strolling into the restaurant. Among the crowd, she quickly looked away after a quick glance. "Lillian, let's focus on our breakfast," she whispered.
She turned her attention to the breakfast counter, picking out her favorite morning grub. Even though she could see Aaron coming closer from the corner of her eye, Susanna stayed glued to her food, acting like he wasn't even there.
The place was packed, and Susanna just took a quick peek before looking away. "Lillian, eyes on your plate."
She grabbed her plate and went for her favorite breakfast.
But soon, she noticed Aaron getting closer, but she kept her eyes on her food, ignoring him.
As Aaron got nearer, Susanna turned and walked off with her plate, her high heels clicking briskly.
Aaron stopped, watching her walk away, his gaze intense. Meanwhile, Susanna moved to another food station, feeling a bit more at ease.
Sam came over. "Ms. Ramirez, now that the rain's stopped, the airport should be back in business soon. When are you planning to leave?"
Susanna looked up at Sam, her tone icy. "I'll leave when I feel like it."
"Ms. Ramirez, let's cut to the chase. What do you need to give us the special medicine?" Sam asked bluntly.
Seeing Aaron approaching from a distance, Susanna's lips curled slightly. "It's simple. Have Vivian kneel around the hotel and shout 'I was wrong.' Then I'll think about it."
Sam looked shocked. "But you already gave Vivian a hard time yesterday. Isn't that enough?"
Susanna's eyes turned cold, and she poured her drink on Sam, then said with fake sweetness, "Oops, my bad. I did it on purpose. You should be grateful."
Sam, staying calm but curious, asked, "Ms. Ramirez, what do you mean by that?"
"Exactly what it sounds like. So you know what it's like to get splashed for no reason," Susanna replied.
She thought, 'It really sucks, doesn't it?'
After laying out her terms, Susanna noticed Aaron had already walked up behind Sam. Without a word, she decided to leave, feeling his eyes on her as she walked away.
Sam turned to Aaron. "You heard her. Looks like getting the special medicine won't be easy."
"I've got my own plans," Aaron said, his eyes locked on Susanna and Lillian sitting together.
Lillian, noticing Aaron's constant stare, started to squirm. "Mommy, someone's staring at us."
Susanna, knowing exactly who it was, said quietly, "Just ignore him, sweetie."
"Mommy, does he know who you are?"
"Probably not yet."
Soon, Susanna got a message from Abel: [Someone's offering big bucks for the special medicine. Ms. Jones, you wanna consider it?]
She paused for a moment before replying: [Let's push for a better price.]
While the offer was tempting, Susanna had no plans to sell it to Aaron.
