Chapter 427 Mr. Abbott Turned into a Jerk
Susanna heard Roman's cussing and shot Aaron a look of disbelief, then turned to Roman and said, "Wait, you don't know him?"
That didn't make any sense. The Thornberry family had been shouting from the rooftops about their big deal with the Abbott family, aiming to be the richest folks in Novaria!
But just now, Roman was all up in Aaron's face, cussing him out like he had no clue who he was!
Weird, right?
Roman puffed up his chest and said, "Of course I know him. Isn't he that loser bodyguard who made the scandal headlines with you?"
The second Susanna heard "loser bodyguard," she saw Aaron's face go dark.
Aaron, who'd always been treated like royalty, had probably never been dissed like that before.
Honestly, she found it kinda funny.
But the fact that Roman didn't recognize Aaron? That threw Susanna for a loop.
She thought Aaron's identity was out in the open.
But nope, Roman had no clue, which meant there was definitely something shady about the Thornberry family's big talk about teaming up with the Abbotts.
Trying not to laugh, Susanna said, "Yep, that's him. The bodyguard who made the scandal headlines with me. He's way hotter than you, got a better bod, and he's got skills. Totally my type!"
Then she gave Roman a once-over and said, "And you? You're ugly, out of shape, and not my type at all!"
Roman fired back, all ticked off, "He's just a loser. How can he compare to me? The Thornberry family is a big deal in Novaria! I've got money and status! How can he even come close?"
Susanna held back a giggle and shot a glance at Aaron, who was looking pretty pissed.
She stepped up and patted Aaron's cheek, saying, "Sure, my bodyguard might not have money or power right now, but he's got a handsome face, and I don't need money. I'm all about the looks!"
Aaron stayed quiet.
He just stared coldly at Susanna, who was clearly trying to stir the pot. His lips were pressed into a thin line. He knew she was doing it on purpose.
Roman, still fuming, said, "Susanna, you might not need money now! But don't forget, the Thornberry family is about to team up with the rich Abbott family from Lindwell. When that happens, we'll be the richest family in Novaria. If you piss me off, we'll come after your Jones family, and you can kiss your fancy status goodbye."
Hearing Roman's big talk, Susanna got curious. Where did the Thornberry family get the guts to say stuff like that?
Roman didn't even recognize Aaron, yet he was acting all high and mighty.
Susanna put on a surprised face and asked, "So, what's this big deal with the Abbott family? Spill the beans so I can be scared."
Roman got all smug and said, "Susanna, give it up. Like I'd tell you about our deal with the Abbott family. That's top-secret business stuff, and I can't share it with an outsider like you. But if you agree to our families' engagement, maybe I'll think about telling you."
After hearing all that crap, Susanna figured either Roman was clueless, or the Thornberry family had been played.
She lost interest real quick and said, "If you won't spill, then whatever. Get outta here and stop blocking my door."
Roman got all huffy and said, "Susanna, you're acting all high and mighty now, but you'll regret it and come crawling back. You're only this cocky 'cause of the Jones family. When you lose their backing, let's see how tough you are."
Susanna's face changed when he dissed the Jones family, and she snapped back, "With your sorry state, you think you can threaten the Jones family? Get lost and don't show your face around me."
Aaron didn't want to waste time on Roman either. Once he got in touch with his crew, he'd figure out which idiot from the branch was dealing with the Thornberry family!
He turned to Susanna and said, "Let's bounce, don't waste time."
Roman, overhearing, got even more pissed and yelled, "You piece of crap, how dare you talk like that in front of me? I might not be able to touch Susanna now, but dealing with you is a walk in the park! Susanna's a wild one. How long do you think you can stick around?"
Aaron's face went dark, and he threw a punch at Roman!
He could take Roman's crap, but dissing Susanna? No way.
Roman hit the ground, clutching his mouth, blood pouring out.
Susanna saw Roman spit out two teeth and gasped, realizing just how hard Aaron had hit him.
But she found it super satisfying.
Roman, holding his bleeding mouth, couldn't say a word. His bodyguard quickly said, "Ms. Jones, your bodyguard's out of control. The Thornberry family isn't to be messed with."
Susanna gave them a smirk and said, "I could say the same. The Jones family isn't to be messed with either."
Then she looked at Roman and said, "You're lucky we only knocked out two of your teeth and didn't take your life."
If Edward had heard those words earlier, Roman would be either dead or crippled by now.
The Thornberry crew rushed Roman to the hospital.
Susanna turned to Aaron and said, "You've been pretty hot-headed lately, throwing punches left and right."
Aaron, still in his bodyguard gear, rubbed his wrist and said, "It's 'cause the guys around you are so damn annoying."
All these dudes talked trash, including Sebastian.
Aaron didn't give a damn about the Thornberry family. He looked at Susanna and said, "What did you do today? Did Lillian's treatment go well?"
Susanna avoided his gaze and said, "Lillian's treatment went smoothly, no issues."
"I want to see her." Aaron's tone was firm.
Susanna felt a bit troubled!
