Chapter 187 Just Name Your Price

Susanna didn't want to waste any more time. Every second here felt like a waste.

Dick, however, looked at her with a soft gaze. "Susanna, you're dodging my question."

Susanna's face twisted in disgust. "If I ever liked you, I'd rot in hell. Got it?"

Dick's expression froze. He hadn't expected such a harsh response!

He also hadn't expected to be so despised. As a successful man, he couldn't understand why Susanna, a divorced woman, would be so picky and critical.

Dick quickly composed himself. "Susanna, no need to be so hard on yourself. I can choose not to give this recording to the police, but there's one condition. You have to agree to be my girlfriend. That way, we'll be family, and I won't hold this against your brother."

Susanna felt like she had poor judgment in people, especially after meeting so many strange individuals. While her adoptive parents were challenging, this eccentric mother and son duo took it to a whole new level.

Aaron had said Dick was a schemer, and now Brian said the same. Today, she finally saw the true face of a schemer.

Just as she had predicted, Dick wanted to use this to threaten her.

Susanna felt a bit helpless. "Dick, we can compensate you financially for this. Name your price."

Harper seemed interested, but Dick refused outright, "I don't want money; I want you."

As long as he married Susanna, he could control her and get resources from her brother, which was worth more than any one-time payment.

Susanna was at a loss for words. "Dick, your mother also said that a divorced woman like me doesn't deserve you."

"Susanna, I like you. It doesn't matter if you've been divorced."

Susanna finally played her trump card. "Dick, there's something I haven't told you. I'm pregnant."

Harper gasped, "You're pregnant? Is it my son's?"

Susanna was speechless, thinking, 'Are they out of their minds? Pregnant with Dick's child? They must be dreaming!'

She replied calmly, "The child is my ex-husband's, and it's twins. I plan to keep them. So if you want to be with me, you'll have to be a father. Can you accept that?"

Dick was momentarily taken aback. Who could accept children that weren't their own?

He glanced at Susanna's belly and gritted his teeth. "Susanna, as long as I can be with you, I can accept anything."

Once he had money in the future, he could have his own children.

Susanna never expected Dick to respond like that. It was almost touching.

But Brian had been giving her lessons on love these past few days, teaching her how to tell when a man was lying.

Now she felt Dick was lying.

It was hard to believe that any normal person could be indifferent to such a bizarre reality. Dick seemed to accept it far too easily, leading Susanna to suspect that there must be some hidden agenda at play.

Susanna was puzzled. "Dick, what exactly do you like about me? I'll change it, okay?"

She was an orphan. What did Dick like about her?

"Susanna, I've shown my sincerity. I don't think any man in this world can do what I've done! I would even jump off a building for you!" Dick said.

Susanna thought Dick was a bit crazy. She said directly, "Dick, I don't like you anymore. Even if you die, I won't like you. That's it."

She didn't want to continue the conversation.

"Susanna, are you just going to leave without the recording?"

Susanna turned back to him. "Well then, play the recording for me. Let's hear it."

There was a moment of silence from Dick. Susanna could sense his dishonesty; he didn't actually have any recording. In that moment, she regretted coming today.

She was getting a bit irritated. Why hadn't Brian responded yet? She needed to discuss this with him to handle it. How could Brian be so unreliable?

Susanna was about to leave the hospital when she received a call from Aaron just as she stepped out of the elevator. She was still immersed in the disgust from Dick and Harper.

Seeing Aaron's call, she answered without hesitation. "What's up?"

"That photo isn't what you think," said Aaron.

Susanna felt the world was surreal today. Her ex-husband was actually explaining his relationship with another woman to her.

Susanna replied, "Alright, I don't want to hear your nonsense. Goodbye!"

At that moment, Harper's sharp voice came from behind her. "Susanna, Dick jumped off a building for you, and you're heartless enough to leave? You wicked woman!"

As Susanna turned around at the sound, she was suddenly pushed hard by Harper.

She tumbled to the ground!

In that instant, Susanna clutched her abdomen, her face draining of color. "Ouch! It hurts!"

Aaron's voice came from the phone. "Susanna, what's wrong? Where are you?"

Susanna glanced at her phone, attempting to reach for it on the ground, but her efforts were in vain. Gritting her teeth in pain, she managed to whisper, "Aaron, I..."

Before she could complete her sentence, she collapsed unconscious.

On the other end, Aaron had just stepped off the plane. He fixed a cold gaze on Tyler. "Which hospital is Dick in?"

"City General Hospital."

"Arrange a helicopter. I need to get there immediately. Do it now!"

Aaron's voice was as sharp as a blade, his expression taut with tension. He promptly dialed Susanna's number, but it rang unanswered.

Panic gripped Aaron's heart once more, a sensation he thought he had left behind.

The last time was when he suddenly got news that Susanna had been kidnapped and taken to the mountains. He had mobilized all his resources and connections to track her down.

Even though Susanna had ultimately found solace in Austin's arms, the desperate sound of Susanna calling out his name for help left Aaron's heart paralyzed, almost suffocating him.

Aaron shook off his reverie and returned to his senses, immediately instructing Tyler, "Susanna might be injured at the hospital. Call Kieran over there and make sure Susanna is safe."

Tyler broke into a cold sweat upon hearing this. 'Did Mrs. Abbott get hurt at the hospital?'

The helicopter was swiftly arranged. Aaron boarded it and flew to the hospital. Shortly after, he received a call from Kieran at the hospital. "Mr. Abbott, Mrs. Abbott has been rushed to the emergency room."

Aaron's expression darkened, his jaw clenched. "Ensure she comes out of that emergency room unharmed, no matter what it takes. I'll arrange to send over any equipment your hospital may need."

"Mr. Abbott, rest assured, we will ensure Mrs. Abbott's safety," answered Kieran.

Finally, the helicopter landed on the hospital's rooftop.

As Aaron jumped out of the helicopter, a figure was already waiting for him. "Mr. Abbott, Mrs. Abbott's condition is not very good."

Aaron's lips tightened. "Did she hit her head?"

"No, she's pregnant."
