Chapter 207 Aaron's Feelings for Susanna

Aaron was floored, disbelief flashing in his dark eyes.

"No way!" he blurted out instinctively.

Feelings for Susanna? No chance!

Sam gave him a serious look. "If you don't why are you so relaxed around her? It shows you subconsciously trust her. Plus, you two have been talking about divorce forever, and she's been flirting with other guys, yet you still put up with it. Don't you think that's weird?"

Aaron's lips tightened. "I'm doing it for Maria."

"Okay, but before Maria's surgery, everyone thought Susanna would use that to cling to you. Now that Maria's surgery is done, why haven't you gone through with the divorce? And when her lawyer talked to you about splitting assets, you signed without even looking. Are you sure you weren't acting out of spite when you signed?" Sam pressed.

Aaron was confused. "Out of spite?"

"Aren't you mad that Susanna is the one pushing for the divorce and asking you to sign the asset division agreement? Doesn't that show you have feelings for her?" Sam questioned.

Aaron fell silent, thinking about Sam's words. After signing the papers, he realized he was paying more attention to Susanna.

It was weird.

"Aaron, now's not the time to drink and stay quiet."

Aaron looked up. "You think I should go find her?"

"Yap, now!"

Aaron's brows furrowed, and he clutched the wine bottle nervously. "I haven't figured out my feelings for her yet!"

Sam looked shocked. "Aaron, I told you to find Susanna to sort out the asset division, and you're thinking about your feelings for her? You're hopeless."

Sam never expected Aaron to fall for Susanna, especially when he was on the brink of bankruptcy and still preoccupied with his feelings for her!

Aaron's expression was a bit off. "This isn't urgent."

"How is this non-urgent? You're about to go broke! If your ancestors knew you gave away the company's shares in a divorce, they'd be rolling in their graves!" Sam exclaimed.

Staring at the wine, Aaron said, "Susanna isn't like that; she won't take it."

"What do you mean ? Isn't she the one who had the lawyer talk to you about the asset division?"

Sam was confused, wondering if there was something he didn't know.

Aaron's expression darkened at the mention of the lawyer. "The content drafted by that lawyer is problematic. Susanna probably doesn't know about it."

If Susanna wanted the assets, she would have brought it up long ago. He had even drafted an asset division agreement before, but she didn't want anything and tore it up.

So the unreasonable terms in this asset division agreement weren't Susanna's conditions.

Sam's mouth twitched. "You trust her that much?"

"It's not that I trust her; I trust Maria's judgment of people," Aaron said.

Sam was getting frustrated. Aaron kept using Maria as an excuse, and only a fool would buy that.

"Who is that lawyer?" Sam asked.

"Daniel."

"Yo, another one from the Jones family. Didn't you say Susanna and Austin were close? Is the Jones fam beefin' with the Abbotts or what??" Sam pressed.

Aaron took another sip of wine. "It's not the Abbott family they have an agenda against; it's Susanna."

"Aaron, if you have feelings for Susanna and haven't finalized the divorce yet, it might be easy to win her back. Remember how much she used to like you, always hanging on your every word. A little effort from your side, and she might just come back to you," Sam suggested.

Aaron's mind flashed back to Susanna's past words—"As long as the new love comes quickly, there's no sadness, only love."

He pressed his lips together. "She's not easy to coax now."

Since he proposed the divorce, Susanna seemed like a different person, always confronting him.

Sam clicked his tongue. "You really gonna sweet-talk her, huh? Still won't admit you've got a thing for Susanna!"

'It's so obvious,' Sam thought.

Aaron replied lightly, "I think it doesn't matter whether we divorce or not. Maria likes her, and I have no demands for marriage. It doesn't matter."

"Still won't admit it? If you really thought that, why did you propose the divorce in the first place?" Sam asked.

Aaron was silent for a moment. "At the time, I thought I had wasted three years of her life. Staying in the Abbott family would only waste more of her life. She could start a new life."

Sam immediately retorted, "Then why don't you let Susanna go now?"

Aaron put down the wine bottle. "Because she's pregnant now."

Sam spat out his wine, looking at Aaron in disbelief. "Your child?"

Aaron's expression wasn't good. "Probably not."

"What do you mean probably not? Wait, according to what you said before, is the child Austin's? Then why don't you hurry up and get a divorce?"

Aaron replied nonchalantly, "I don't give a damn about the kid. Remember when I lied to Maria about Susanna being pregnant to push her into surgery? Well, now that Maria's getting better, the truth's gonna come out. Susanna's actually pregnant now, and even if the baby isn't mine, I'll turn a blind eye to it for Maria's sake."

Sam swallowed hard. "Aaron, are you crazy?"

Signing a divorce agreement with nothing left was one thing, and now he wanted to be the father of his unfaithful wife's child?

'If this isn't love for Susanna, what is?' Sam pondered.

No man would tolerate this if it wasn't for love.

But Aaron didn't answer. He casually picked up his phone and noticed a missed call from Susanna.

Aaron squinted slightly. Susanna probably called about the divorce agreement this afternoon.

Sam leaned over. "Whose missed call? Was it Susanna?"

"Yeah, I missed her call."

Aaron hesitated, staring at his phone. "Should I call her back?" he croaked.
