Chapter 150 What’s Gotten into Aaron Today?
Susanna didn't expect to run into Aaron here!
Sometimes fate was truly amazing!
At that moment, Dick also noticed Aaron, and his eyes lit up. "Isn't he Miss Jones's fiancé?"
The three of them met at the restaurant entrance, and the atmosphere became a bit tense.
Susanna quickly looked away. "Aunt Harper, let's go to the private room for dinner first."
However, Dick took a step forward and walked towards Aaron. "Mr. Abbott, what a coincidence to see you dining at this restaurant."
Susanna's heart raced when she saw Dick greeting Aaron. She wondered, 'Since when did Dick know Aaron?'
She looked up and saw the incredibly handsome man over there. He glanced at her and then nodded calmly without saying a word.
Dick was trying every way to connect with Aaron. After all, he was the richest Abbott family. If he could secure some resources from the Abbott family in the future, Epic Horizon would grow rapidly.
However, Aaron stood there with an air of nobility, exuding an intimidating aura, making Dick look like a clown standing next to him.
Susanna felt a mix of awkwardness and curiosity as she observed the interaction between Dick and Aaron.
As she contemplated what to do next, Harper, who was standing beside her, took the initiative and walked towards Aaron. Turning to Dick, she asked, "Dick, is this your friend? Since we've all met here at the restaurant, why don't we have a meal together?"
Susanna's expression shifted when she heard this. Aaron, a man with a cleanliness obsession who liked quiet, how could he possibly agree to dine with others casually?
Dick probably realized his mother's words were somewhat offensive, so he quickly interrupted, "Mom, Mr. Abbott is usually busy with work and doesn't have much time to dine with us."
Susanna thought the same.
But the next second, she met Aaron's dark eyes and suddenly had a bad feeling.
Aaron said, "Sure."
Susanna was quite speechless.
'What's going on? He actually agreed to dine with them? Is this a joke? Or is it the end of the world?' she asked herself.
Dick also showed the same shocked expression, probably not expecting Aaron to agree to dine with them.
Susanna was at a loss for words, contemplating if she could still make her exit gracefully at this point.
Harper waved at her. "Susanna, why are you still standing at the door? Come over and join us for dinner."
Susanna didn't move; she really didn't want to go over.
Harper walked over and took her arm. "Susanna, don't be shy. We're all so familiar with each other. It's no big deal. That's Dick's friend, and we just happened to meet at the restaurant, so let's have a meal together."
Susanna was pulled over and felt very awkward.
Dick tried to ease the atmosphere, chiming in, "Yeah, Susanna, you know Mr. Abbott too, right? No need to feel embarrassed."
Harper immediately looked at her and said, "Susanna, you know Mr. Abbott? What's your relationship?"
Susanna was stumped by the question.
'What's the relationship? Soon-to-be-divorced couple?'
She looked up at Aaron and replied, "We're not just regular friends."
Susanna's breath caught, and she quickly added, "Yes, yes, we're not just friends. Mr. Abbott and I are relatives."
Harper's eyes lit up upon hearing this. "Oh, so you're relatives. Then Mr. Abbott is your...?"
Susanna thought for a moment and said, "Mr. Abbott is my cousin!"
After she said that, she immediately felt Aaron's meaningful gaze on her, but she avoided looking at him. She couldn't quite grasp what this man was up to.
Dick accepted Susanna's explanation quickly. After all, Susanna had relatives in the Novaria Jones family, so having a connection with the Abbott family made sense. The relationships among wealthy families were complex, and he didn't doubt anything. Instead, he was more satisfied with Susanna's background.
If Susanna were with him in the future, wouldn't that mean he would be connected to both the Novaria Jones family and the Lindwell Abbott family?
Dick immediately said excitedly, "Let's not linger at the restaurant entrance. Mr. Abbott, please."
Aaron squinted slightly, glanced at Susanna, and then turned to follow them to the private room.
Susanna's steps felt particularly heavy; she had a sinking feeling that today's meal would be hard to stomach.
Dick immediately handed the menu to Aaron as they settled down. "Mr. Abbott, please order first."
Aaron took the menu and then handed it to her, "You order, Susanna."
Susanna almost choked on her saliva. She glanced at the menu and knew Aaron did this on purpose.
Harper, sitting next to her, said, "Susanna, quickly take the menu and order. Mr. Abbott is being a gentleman; don't embarrass him."
Susanna swallowed and took the menu to order, but she was a bit absent-minded and randomly ordered two dishes.
Harper took the menu from Susanna. "Susanna, you're not familiar with ordering. Mr. Abbott is a distinguished guest; choose something upscale. How about the lobster and abalone? Don't worry about the cost for Dick; he can handle it!"
Susanna felt very embarrassed when she heard this.
She saw Harper order a lot of dishes, but many were spicy, not to Aaron's taste.
Susanna said instinctively, "Aunt Harper, order a few lighter dishes. Mr. Abbott prefers lighter food and doesn't like sweet things."
After Susanna's comment, the private room fell into a hushed silence.
She then realized what she had said. She had just seen that none of the dishes were to Aaron's taste, so she had spoken out of habit.
Both men looked over at the same time. She paused and explained, "Well, Mr. Abbott is my cousin. I've heard that my cousin prefers lighter food."
Aaron smirked and glanced at her, responding, "It seems Susanna cares about me quite a bit. I never realized you knew my dietary preferences so well."
Susanna's smile was a bit stiff. "Aaron, you must be joking. I always remember my family's dietary preferences."
Harper took her hand immediately and remarked, "Susanna, I didn't expect you to be so good at handling family matters. Dick is usually busy with work and doesn't handle family relationships well. If you two are together in the future, I won't worry at all."
The atmosphere in the private room turned noticeably chilly as soon as she finished speaking.
Susanna felt Aaron's intense gaze from across the table.
