Chapter 537 Amelia is About to Strike Back
Susanna caught on to what Amelia was hinting at.
She took a moment and said, "You know the Velvet Sky Ballroom Hotel's rules. Plus, all the banquet slots for this year are booked solid. Unless someone cancels or transfers, there's no way to squeeze in another event."
"Susanna, come on. I'm not here to make your life hard. And there's no way I'm letting Vivian have her way. My dad booked that banquet, and I'm not handing it over to Ramond just like that." Amelia was fuming inside.
But right now, the priority wasn't just about hosting a banquet at the Velvet Sky Ballroom Hotel. It was about using Owen's reservation for Paige's birthday party, not some welcome bash for Ramond.
Susanna asked, "So, have you figured out how to get Owen to change his mind? Vivian's not gonna give up this chance easily. For her, hosting that banquet at the Velvet Sky Ballroom Hotel is a big deal."
"I know, but I'm not letting her win."
Seeing Amelia's determined look, Susanna figured she had a plan and didn't press further.
Convincing Owen to change his mind wouldn't be easy, but if they stuck to the original plan and accepted Ramond, Vivian would definitely lose out.
Of course, it all depended on how Amelia played her cards.
Amelia walked straight over to Owen, standing confidently by his side.
As the President's daughter, Amelia's upbringing and experiences were worlds apart from Vivian's. Even though Vivian had been trying to change her ways lately, she was still just a paper tiger, and anyone with half a brain could see through it.
Soon, all eyes were on Amelia, and her knack for engaging and charming the crowd had everyone smiling.
Vivian, on the other hand, felt like she was invisible, completely ignored by everyone.
She could only muster an awkward smile. Inside, she was boiling with anger, but she couldn't let it show. This was her first public appearance, and she couldn't afford to leave a bad impression.
Seeing Amelia back in control, Susanna felt a bit relieved.
She walked over with a cocktail and greeted Owen warmly, "Thanks for taking time out of your busy schedule to come to this banquet."
Owen took the cocktail, giving Susanna a deep look, and said politely, "You and Amelia are so close; of course, I had to come and support."
Susanna smiled, and just as she was about to clink glasses with Owen, a hand suddenly stopped Owen's glass.
Vivian said, "Your health isn't great, and the doctor said you should avoid alcohol. Did you forget?"
"Almost did. Thanks for the reminder. But one sip won't hurt, right?"
Vivian took the glass from Owen's hand, saying, "You're not as young as you used to be, and the doctor said not even a sip. Please use water instead of wine; I'm sure everyone will understand."
After Vivian's timely words, people exchanged curious glances, wondering who this young woman next to Owen was.
They wondered if she was Owen's mistress, but that seemed unlikely.
Owen hadn't had any scandals in recent years, so how could he suddenly have a young woman by his side?
Someone nearby asked in surprise, "Mr. Richardson, she looks unfamiliar. Who is she?"
Hearing this, Vivian breathed a sigh of relief. Her real purpose for attending this banquet was to announce to everyone that she was also the President's daughter.
Vivian glanced triumphantly at Amelia, thinking that no matter how much she struggled or felt unhappy, she couldn't stop this.
Owen paused, just about to think of an explanation, when Amelia quickly said, "This is Ms. Nguyen, the daughter of an old friend of my father's. After her mother passed away, her family faced some difficulties, so my father brought her to our home."
Vivian's face changed instantly upon hearing this. Just as she was about to explain, Owen nodded and said, "That's right. It's not easy for a young girl, so I help her."
Amelia smiled and said, "Dad, you're always so kind-hearted, helping others."
Susanna chimed in, "After all, your father is the President, managing all of Novaria. Helping the daughter of an old friend is nothing. This is the example he sets for us. Let's all give a round of applause."
At this moment, enthusiastic applause erupted, and the room was filled with praise for Owen's kindness and loyalty, bringing a look of satisfaction to his face.
But there was one person who wasn't happy, and that was Vivian.
Vivian almost lost control at that moment, digging her nails into her flesh to keep her composure.
After all, this was a great opportunity to introduce herself to everyone.
From now on, she wouldn't be an illegitimate child without status.
But Amelia had interrupted, saying she was the daughter of an old friend.
She thought Owen would explain, but to her surprise, he agreed with this statement. So what did that make her?
Vivian's mind was in turmoil. She didn't want to lose this opportunity. If she couldn't prove her identity today, there would be no chance in the future.
She had to seize this occasion to announce her identity.
Once it was done, it couldn't be changed.
Determined, Vivian looked at Owen and said, "Dad, if I'm the daughter of your old friend, what about Ramond?"
She wanted to remind Owen not to forget about adopting Ramond into The Richardson Family. If she was just the daughter of his old friend, that relationship wouldn't exist.
Vivian's call of "Dad" instantly caught everyone's attention.
People exchanged quick glances, as they had been speculating about Vivian's relationship with Owen. If Owen wasn't having an affair, then Vivian was likely his illegitimate daughter.
After all, in wealthy families, having illegitimate children was quite common.
Owen felt stuck, not expecting Vivian to publicly call him "Dad."
Amelia smiled and linked her arm with Owen's. "Why is everyone so surprised? Didn't we just say that my father brought the daughter of his old friend into our home? Of course, he wants to make her his goddaughter."
