Chapter 180 Brian's Love Lessons
Brian's first words were a bombshell.
Dick was floored, his face turning awkward. "I run a company called Epic Horizon. Business is steady. I might not have millions now, but I will in the future."
If Susanna's brother invested, making millions a year wouldn't be an issue.
Brian's eyes gleamed with sarcasm. "The future? Who are you fooling? Come back when you're making millions a year. Right now, you're not even in the game. Where do you get the nerve to confess to Susanna?"
Dick didn't expect such bluntness, no respect at all.
He turned to Austin. "I really like Susanna. I'd die for her. Last time she was kidnapped, I risked my life. Money isn't everything; sincerity is. As her brothers, you should want her to marry for love, not money, right?"
Brian looked at Austin. "He saved Susanna?"
Austin nodded. "Yeah, during the last kidnapping. He runs Epic Horizon, where Susanna was working part-time."
Brian eyed Dick. "So it was you."
Dick sighed in relief. His injury had been worth it. "Yeah, it was me. Seeing Susanna in trouble, I'd do anything, even die."
Austin was moved. "We do owe you for that."
Brian wasn't having it. He snorted at Dick. "Cut the crap. You tried to stop them and got knocked down in one move. Susanna was still taken. Did you rescue her afterward?"
Dick felt the sting but kept his cool. "I was caught off guard. I didn't expect them to act in a big city. I'll learn Taekwondo to make sure Susanna's safe and never let that happen again."
"You're all talk," Brian shot back, not holding back. "You're all show and no substance. We're not buying it!"
Dick was sweating, feeling guilty, and couldn't meet Brian's eyes. It felt like Brian could see right through him.
Austin thought Brian was being too harsh and finally spoke up. "Well, at least Dick helped out back then."
Dick's eyes brightened. "I might not have done much, but my feelings for Susanna are real."
Austin cut in, "You didn't do much, but I acknowledge your effort. Still, Brian's right. If you want to pursue Susanna, show sincerity, not just talk."
Dick nodded. "I understand. I'll prove it to you."
Just then, Susanna arrived at the school gate.
She saw the three men standing by the roadside. Besides her brothers, Dick was there too!
Susanna's expression changed. What was Dick up to now?
Brian waved her over. "Susanna, over here!"
Susanna walked toward her brothers, eyeing Dick and his bouquet of roses with disgust.
Dick rushed to her first. "Susanna, these roses are for you, as an apology. I hope you can forgive me."
Susanna frowned. "Dick, haven't I made it clear? I don't like you."
Why couldn't he just let it go?
Dick held out the roses. "Susanna, I just explained to your brothers. They understand my actions, so I'll prove my sincerity to them. I'm the one who can make you happy."
Susanna looked at her brothers in disbelief. Did they really believe him?
Brian's face turned cold. He grabbed the roses. "Dick, how can you lie like that? When did we understand your actions? Explain yourself."
Dick looked embarrassed and turned to Austin. "Didn't I just explain?"
Austin felt uncomfortable and responded coldly, "Dick, I don't interfere with Susanna's love life. It's her choice. But she just made it clear; she doesn't like you."
Dick was anxious. "It's okay. I can wait. I can try harder."
Austin grabbed Dick's shoulder, his expression icy. "Susanna doesn't like you. You're harassing her now."
Brian angrily tossed the roses to the ground and crushed them under his foot, his voice icy and commanding. "Dick, let me make this clear—understand your position. Susanna is not someone for you to desire. Keep your thoughts to yourself and leave. Susanna isn't interested."
As a seasoned player in the field of love, Brian had seen all kinds of tactics from men.
From the first moment he saw Dick, Brian knew this guy wasn't trustworthy, not someone Susanna could rely on. He worried that if his pure and kind sister got deceived by such cheap emotional tactics, how could he stop it? Luckily, Susanna didn't like this guy at all.
Controlled by the two men, Dick couldn't compete and left dejectedly.
Susanna finally sighed in relief. "What did he say to you?"
Brian's tone turned frosty. "Nothing, just some nonsense. Luckily, you're smart enough not to be fooled by a douchebag."
Susanna didn't know what to say for a moment. "It's a long story."
Austin said calmly, "Get in the car, and we'll talk slowly."
After getting in the car with her brothers, Brian spoke first. "Susanna, let me tell you, don't fall for such cheap emotional tactics, okay?"
Susanna was a bit confused. "Emotional tactics?"
Brian continued, "Yeah, men like Dick, who have nothing, will always be at your beck and call, always trying to please you, lowering themselves for you. They might bring you roses every day or breakfast every morning. It seems romantic and sincere, right?"
Susanna nodded. "It seems so."
But Dick had never done that for her.
Brian spoke earnestly, "That's a shallow emotional ploy. Men who latch onto you for emotional support aren't worth your time because they lack substance. They can only offer time, not true value. Beware of such individuals and don't get ensnared in their trap."
Susanna was silent for a moment. "Brian, are you talking about yourself?"
