Chapter 45 A Double Occasion for Joy

Aaron raised his head. "What condition?"
"Aaron, you know that I like you. Now everyone can see it, including my brothers. But my brothers are very unhappy that you married someone else three years ago, so they don't want me to have too much contact with you. It's because I have always insisted on liking you and wanting to be by your side, that Austin reluctantly agreed to come and see Grandma."

At this point, Erica gathered her courage and looked at him. "But Austin made a condition. I have to marry you, and he will only perform the surgery for his own family."

The pen Aaron was holding stopped turning, and his gaze became sharp. "But didn't Austin dislike the fact that I was already married?"

"That's right, because I kept pestering him and wouldn't let go. In the end, he made this condition. As long as you agree to marry me, he will come and perform the surgery for Grandma when his business trip is over. Then Grandma's health can be restored."

After Erica finished speaking, she secretly looked at the man in front of her.

His mature and profound facial features were impeccable, and his deep eyes were inscrutable.

Actually, Erica was also a bit unsure, but she had no way out anymore.

She didn't want to lose to Susanna, who came from a poor background.

She just wanted to marry the man she liked. There was nothing she couldn't get that she wanted since she was a child.

The atmosphere in the office was quiet.

Aaron stood up and turned to look at the landscape outside the huge floor-to-ceiling window. He didn't speak for a long time.

Erica looked at his slender and straight figure with infatuation. "Aaron, I don't want to force you into this either, but maybe Grandma doesn't have much time left. I know you don't like me, but we can pretend and get engaged first, deceive Austin into performing the surgery for Grandma. Then we can break up afterwards."

Aaron looked at the sky outside. "I need to think about this carefully."

"I understand. Then I'll leave first."

After Erica left the office, her expression was frustrated. If it weren't for that despicable Susanna confusing Aaron, how could he have kept dragging on without getting a divorce?

Unfortunately, she still had an ace up her sleeve!

Aaron was able to reluctantly marry a woman with a bad background in order to save Grandma Abbott's life before. Now that she had also saved Grandma Abbott's life, Aaron would definitely agree to divorce and get engaged to her.

As long as Aaron divorced and got engaged to her, she would have the final say in how things developed afterwards!

After Erica took the elevator and left, she called Austin again, and this time the call went through.

Erica was extremely excited and spoke first. "Austin, you finally answered my call."

Austin came to the corridor alone. "Do you have something to talk about?"

"Austin, are you still on a business trip? When will you be free?"

"Not sure, what's the matter?"

Erica gathered her courage and said, "I mentioned it last time, about performing surgery for Grandma Abbott. She's an elderly woman with poor health. Can you find some time to do the surgery? After all, doctors are supposed to treat and save people, right?"

Austin's tone was cold, "No."

If it were anyone else, it would be fine, but this was Aaron's grandmother.

Just the thought of Susanna working as a nurse at the Abbotts for so many years made him extremely uncomfortable, and coupled with the fact that three years ago, the Abbotts asked Erica to engaged with Aaron, his impression of the Abbotts had never been good.

"Why not?" Erica heard her brother refuse, and panic filled her heart. She had just told Aaron that Austin agreed to perform the surgery. If he doesn't agree, how can she explain it to Aaron?

Austin pursed his lips, "When I say no, it means no. There's no reason."

He hung up the phone directly, and Erica was completely stunned.

She unwillingly called again, but it kept showing that no one was picking up. Finally, Erica slammed her phone on the seat, "Why won't he agree to do the surgery? I really don't understand!"

The assistant in the passenger seat said, "Miss, he probably wants to stand up for you because of what happened three years ago."

Erica gradually calmed down, "Is that so? That makes sense. They didn't have such animosity towards Aaron before. Ever since the incident three years ago, They have always disliked the people from the Abbotts. They're doing this because of me."

"That's right, Miss. You're the only girl in the family, and Mrs. Jones likes you so much. Who can compare to you?"

Hearing these flattering words, Erica's expression improved quite a bit, "You're right. Austin must be refusing to do surgery for Grandma Abbott because of me. I'll have to come up with a way to appease him!"

"Miss, I think you should talk to Mrs. Abbott about this. When the whole family stands by your side, Aaron will definitely agree to get engaged to you."

"That's a good idea."

Only then did Erica pick up her phone, adjust her tone, and call Mrs. Abbott. This time, she won't let Aaron be taken away by another woman like three years ago.

In the evening, when Aaron returned home, he saw his mother sitting on the couch, the wedding photo on the living room wall taken down and casually placed on the floor.

The man furrowed his brows, "Mom, what's going on?"
"The picture of that woman, Susanna, has no business being here. Aaron, I came to find you about your grandmother's situation, Erica told me everything. You're usually the most filial to your grandmother, so why don't you know what to do at this critical time?" Maud was furious. "Aaron, you divorce Susanna immediately, then get engaged to Erica, and then her brother can perform the surgery on your grandmother. This is a good thing!"

Aaron sat on the couch, his face tired. "Mom, it's not easy to deceive my grandmother. If she finds out that I divorced Susanna, she won't have the surgery."

"Then just don't let your grandmother find out. As long as you don't say anything and I don't say anything, but Susanna might spill the beans. I still don't know if she deliberately used your grandmother's health to threaten you."

"Mom, she's not that kind of person."

Susanna only messaged him a few days ago about the divorce.

"You're still defending her? That woman is living with another man outside, can you tolerate that? Just get divorced early, and everyone can relax."

"Mom, I'll handle my own affairs."

"But your grandmother's health can't wait! You better think it through."

Maud stood up and looked at Brenda. "Throw away this picture and make sure it's properly taken care of."

Brenda deliberately slowed down and waited until Maud left before looking at Aaron. "Sir, should I throw it away?"

Only then did Aaron look at the picture on the ground. "Put it in the basement."

He took out his phone and made a video call to his grandmother. It was quickly answered, and the old lady was sitting in a rocking chair. "Aaron, what's happening between you and Susanna?"

The man hesitated.
