Chapter 420 Mr. Abbott's Dominant Protection of His Wife

Susanna cracked up and said, "Well, congrats in advance, I guess."

Kayle fiddled with her bracelet, looking all smug. "You better wise up. Say yes to the engagement soon, or you won't be good enough for the Thornberry family."

"No way, I'm not getting hitched to Roman. I care about looks, and Roman's a total eyesore. My bodyguard's way hotter."

Kayle's face turned red with anger, and Claudia chimed in, "Mom, it's that bodyguard over there. Susanna's wearing his clothes. Something's definitely up between them."

Kayle shot a death glare at Aaron, who was just standing there. "Just a bodyguard? He can't hold a candle to Roman."

Susanna laughed again. "You never know! Roman might actually be worse than my bodyguard!"

Her bodyguard wasn't just any guy, after all.

But Susanna was done with Kayle and Claudia. She turned to the staff nearby and said, "Since Kayle and Claudia don't want to be here, show them the door."

Kayle snapped, "Susanna, you think I care about your party? If it wasn't for Roman, I wouldn't be here. Claudia, let's bounce."

"Yeah, once our family teams up with the Abbott family, the Jones family will be toast. Susanna will be begging to marry Roman."

"Can't wait to see her eat crow!"

Watching them leave, Susanna muttered, "Kayle and Claudia are seriously nuts."

Did they take the wrong meds? Are they on another planet?

Susanna turned to Aaron. "Are you really teaming up with the Thornberry family? With their brains, aren't you worried about screwing over the Abbott family?"

If he wanted a partner, he should pick someone smart.

Teaming up with the Thornberry family was like asking for trouble.

Susanna looked at Aaron, puzzled.

Aaron was supposed to be a business whiz, so why team up with the Thornberry family? It made no sense!

Aaron replied coolly, "I'm not handling the Novaria project."

"You're not? Aren't you the president of the Abbott Group?"

"There’s a ton of stuff going on. I can't micromanage everything. Besides, the Novaria projects are small potatoes, no need to report every little thing to me."

"Small potatoes?"

Susanna said, skeptical, "If it's so small, why's the Thornberry family acting all high and mighty? They act like they own the Abbott family."

Just now, Kayle and Claudia were bragging about taking over as the richest family in Novaria.

Aaron frowned. "Why do you even bother with them?"

"You're right."

Susanna quickly brushed off Kayle and Claudia and went to mingle with the movie release crowd, which was why she was there in the first place.

Soon, a few rich guys from the entertainment biz looked at Susanna and said, "It's scorching today, why are you rocking such a thick jacket?"

"Yeah, Susanna, ditch the jacket. It's boiling out here, and your dress is stunning. Why cover it up?"

"Totally, you've got a killer figure. What, scared of turning heads?"

Susanna was feeling the heat too. She gave a sheepish grin and said, "I tripped during check-in, and my dress got messed up."

One of the rich guys sauntered over and said, "Let me see where it's torn. Maybe I can help fix it."

As he reached to take off her jacket, Susanna was about to smack him when someone grabbed his wrist and said coldly, "Keep your filthy hands off her!"

Susanna turned and saw Aaron standing there, and she felt a weird sense of relief.

Maybe having a loyal bodyguard wasn't such a bad deal after all.

The rich guy got all huffy and snapped at Aaron, "You dumb bodyguard, let go, or you'll regret it."

Susanna shot Aaron a look and said, "Let go. This isn't Maplewood Ridge; you can't just kill someone here."

The rich guy's face went pale. "He's from Maplewood Ridge?"

Susanna nodded calmly. "Yep, Edward hired him from Maplewood Ridge. Used to be a pro killer, now he's here to protect me."

Aaron gave her a long look but stayed silent.

The rich guy's face changed, and Susanna added, "Sorry, my bodyguard's new and doesn't know all the rules yet. Cut us some slack."

Aaron then pulled out a bag and said, "Edward sent these clothes over."

"Oh, clothes from Edward."

Susanna turned to the rich guys and said, "I'm gonna go change. You guys have fun."

Hearing Edward's name, the rich guys clammed up.

Susanna took Aaron to the lounge and glanced at him. "You were quick on your feet back there."

He even knew to drop Edward's name to scare them off.

Aaron handed her the bag and replied coolly, "Next to you, I'm still a rookie. Didn't know I was a killer from Maplewood Ridge."

"If I didn't say that, those rich guys wouldn't back off. You're just a bodyguard."

"Doesn't matter, they can try me."

"This isn't Lindwell. Here, you're just a broke bodyguard with no backup."

Aaron looked down at her with intense eyes and said, "So now I'm begging you to look out for me."

His voice was low and rough. Susanna turned her head and said, "Alright, wait outside. I need to change."

Aaron left the lounge and stood guard.

Soon, a few people walked by, and Aaron spotted the guy who had tried to touch Susanna earlier!

The guy was clearly up to no good.

He sneered, "Hey, you, do me a favor and let me in."

Aaron blocked the door and said coldly, "No."

"How much do you want? Name your price."

The guy pulled out his wallet, took out a wad of cash, and tossed it at Aaron. "You're just a bodyguard. Let me in, and there's more where that came from."
