Chapter 413 Mr. Abbott Got Beaten Up by Her Brothers

Susanna spotted the shiner on Brian's face and got a gnarly feeling in her gut.

These two really threw down, and she couldn't help but wonder how Aaron was holding up.

Aviana clocked Brian's injury and was like, "Brian, what the heck happened? Who'd you scrap with?"

Susanna's heart was pounding as she stared at Brian, dying to know how the fight went down.

But Brian's face was all kinds of awkward. He hesitated and then said, "Oh, it's nothing. Just clumsy me, bumped into something."

Susanna was floored by his response.

She didn't expect Brian to keep Aaron's name out of it. Was it 'cause he knew Edward was around?

Austin was in the treatment room, keeping an eye on things, so only she and Brian knew Aaron had tagged along.

Nah, Brian wouldn't dodge Aaron's name just for that. Could Aaron be... dead?

Brian caught Susanna's look and felt a bit bummed. It seemed like the Abbott and Jones families just couldn't see eye to eye!

While hanging outside, Edward turned to Susanna and said, "Susanna, I heard someone from the Abbott family held back the bone marrow?"

His tone was dripping with menace.

Susanna quickly spilled the whole story.

Edward's face went dark, and he said, "Figures, the Abbott family is full of lowlifes."

Brian nodded right away and said, "Totally agree."

Aviana chimed in, "Susanna, when you get back, steer clear of Lindwell and the Abbott family. They're nothing but headaches!"

Susanna nodded and said, "Got it."

She only went to Lindwell to track down Aaron for the bone marrow anyway.

Lillian, eavesdropping nearby, yawned, rolled over, and sneakily covered her smartwatch.

The treatment dragged on till midnight before it wrapped up.

Michael came out and said, "Surgery went great, but Charles needs a few days of observation. No need to see him now; go home and get some rest."

The Jones family let out a collective sigh of relief.

Susanna, eyes red, said, "As long as it worked, that's all that matters. Thanks, Michael."

Michael replied, "No need to thank me. You should thank yourself for finding a match so fast."

Aviana jumped in, "It's late. Since the treatment was a success, let's head home and rest. We can visit Charles in a few days."

Susanna headed back to the Jones family house.

The news of Charles's successful surgery had her buzzing. After washing up, she was too wired to sleep. Maybe it was all that plane sleep.

Just then, she got a message from her assistant: [Mr. Abbott and Brian threw down at the airport, but looks like Brian lost.]

Susanna couldn't believe Brian and Aaron actually fought. No wonder Brian clammed up when Aviana asked about his injury; he was embarrassed 'cause he lost.

She shot back: [Where's Aaron now?]

The assistant responded: [Mr. Abbott's in the hospital.]

Susanna frowned and typed: [Why's he in the hospital? Didn't he win?]

The assistant explained: [After Brian lost, his bodyguards jumped Mr. Abbott, and he got sent to the hospital. Heard he's pretty banged up.]

Susanna's concern grew as she typed: [How bad? Is he gonna die?]

The assistant replied: [Nah, he won't die.]

Seeing that, Susanna finally relaxed. As long as he wasn't dead, it was all good.

Thinking about Aaron getting jumped made her wanna laugh. She had told him not to get off the plane with her, but he didn't listen. Now he's learned his lesson the hard way.

The next morning, after scarfing down breakfast, Susanna headed straight to the hospital.

No way she was gonna miss a chance to kick someone when they're down.

When she got to the hospital, she pushed open the door to Aaron's room and saw him lying there, still in a hospital gown, with bandages on his head and hands.

She coughed, trying to stifle her laughter as she walked over. "Mr. Abbott, how's it going? Learned your lesson yet?"

Aaron looked up, his face a mix of embarrassment and annoyance when he saw Susanna.

He'd never been in such a sorry state before.

Susanna couldn't help but laugh at the sight of Aaron's head wrapped in thick layers of bandages.

Aaron's face darkened. "What's so funny?"

"Sorry, I just can't help it," Susanna said, still chuckling. "I told you not to get off the plane with me, but you didn't listen. Now look at you, learned your lesson, huh?"

Aaron's face got even darker, and he gritted his teeth. "I was careless this time."

"Even if you were ready, this is Novaria, not Lindwell. Your clout here is limited, you gotta get that."

Aaron didn't want to accept it. He felt Brian only won 'cause he had more people on his side.

He said coldly, "Who doesn't have a few bodyguards? Once I'm outta here and back on my feet, I won't make the same mistake again."

"Aaron, I'm telling you, keep a low profile and get outta Novaria ASAP."

Aaron switched gears and asked, "The bone marrow was delivered yesterday. When's the treatment starting? I'll leave only after the kid's treatment is done."

Susanna, knowing the treatment went smoothly, said lightly, "It's already started. Don't worry, it'll go fine."

But she couldn't tell him the treatment was already over.

Aaron didn't know the person getting treated wasn't Lillian.

Susanna looked at him and said, "I came to tell you the treatment will go smoothly. You should leave Novaria soon. I'm outta here."

Just as she turned to leave, Aaron's voice stopped her. "Susanna, I'm not leaving Novaria easily. I said I'd personally see Lillian recover before I go."

Susanna turned back, glaring at him. "Lucky for you, it was Brian and Austin who picked me up yesterday. If it had been Edward, do you think you'd still be alive to sit here and talk to me?"

"Whatever, this is my decision."

Susanna was fuming at his stubbornness and sneered, "Fine, do what you want. Pretend I never came."

As she stormed out, a doctor and a nurse walked in.

The nurse stepped forward and looked at Aaron. "Sir, haven't your family members come?"

Aaron, looking annoyed, said, "What's the matter?"

"Well, the fees for your hospitalization and surgery haven't been paid yet. We need to know when your family will come to prepay some medical expenses. Since you're not from Novaria, the hospital requires prepayment."

Susanna raised an eyebrow, surprised to find out Aaron was behind on his medical bills.
