Chapter 176 Can't You Wait for Me a Little Longer?
After Susanna finished talking, Aaron's deep, cold voice came through the phone. "Go ahead."
"Well, I'm still at the school gate trying to get a cab. It'll probably take me over an hour to get there. Can you wait for me a bit longer?" Susanna asked softly.
Aaron glanced at his watch, his thin lips curling slightly, but his tone stayed impatient. "Susanna, you're even late for a divorce. Are you doing this on purpose?"
"Nope, I promise, and I'm not playing hard to get. I am serious about getting divorced!" she said firmly.
Hearing this, the smile on Aaron's lips vanished.
Susanna really knew how to push his buttons!
He spoke coldly, "You said nine o'clock, yet you're running late and expect me to wait? Susanna, do you realize how busy I am every day? How much I earn per hour? Can you afford to compensate for my time?"
Susanna was choked by the barrage of questions and asked, "How much? I'll transfer it to you."
"Too late."
Aaron hung up. Susanna panicked and immediately called him back, but no one answered.
She had no choice but to send Aaron a WhatsApp message: [I got a cab and am on my way. Wait for me a bit longer, it won't take too much of your time!]
On the other end, Aaron saw her message and felt a bit better.
'Wait for her? Dream on!' he thought.
At that moment, Tyler handed over a document and said, "Boss, the flight takes off in less than an hour. If we don't leave now, we won't make it."
"Okay, let's go."
Aaron nodded, got up, and left the office with steady, powerful steps, a smile on his face, seemingly in a good mood.
Tyler could probably guess why the boss was so cheerful. Since Mrs. Abbott got out of the car yesterday, the boss had been in a foul mood. Tyler thought today would be even worse, especially with the divorce proceedings looming.
But Aaron had been working in the office all day and hadn't gone to the court! Judging by Aaron's phone call, Susanna was late today too? But Aaron didn't tell her he hadn't gone to meet the lawyer either.
Indeed, the older, the wiser. Susanna was too naive.
Meanwhile, Susanna hurriedly took a cab to the court, but when she arrived, she didn't see Aaron anywhere. She went to the nearby parking lot but didn't see Aaron's car either.
Where was he?
Susanna quickly took out her phone to call Aaron. "Sorry, the number you dialed is currently unavailable. Please try again later..."
What was going on? His phone was off?
Susanna was dumbfounded. Didn't Aaron know they were getting divorced today? She had called to explain it to him. How could Aaron have left? Hadn't he always wanted to get rid of her and divorce her? He had waited three years but couldn't wait one more hour?
Susanna was baffled!
She waited outside the law firm for over half an hour, feeling like a fool. Aaron's phone was still off. She angrily took out her phone and sent a WhatsApp message: [Aaron, what do you mean? Don't you want a divorce anymore?]
[Have you realized you've fallen for me at the last minute and don't want to go through with the divorce anymore?]
Susanna sent a flurry of messages, thinking that if Aaron, that proud man, saw them, he would definitely be furious. Using reverse psychology, Aaron should quickly explain why he missed the appointment.
After putting down her phone, she suddenly received a link forwarded by her best friend: #Master Susan and the Campus Heartthrob's Love Story Announced#
Seeing this headline, Susanna's eyelid twitched. What was this?
She clicked on it and saw pictures of Dick with flowers and candles, kneeling on one knee with a bouquet, while she looked down, seemingly shy. Seeing these photos, Susanna was furious.
The most crucial part was that the article claimed she and Dick had known each other before, had mutual crushes, and that she had turned down a big corporate opportunity to join Epic Horizon, completing a mutual pursuit.
What nonsense? She was disgusted.
She immediately called Flandre. "Who posted it? It's complete nonsense! I never liked Dick, and I didn't turn down the big corporate opportunity because of him."
She had done it to reject Aaron!
"Susanna, I know the article is nonsense, so I showed it to you. We need to resolve this before it escalates. I'll talk to the school's news department to find out who posted it," said Flandre.
"Okay, I'll go talk to Dick now."
After hanging up, Susanna immediately called Dick, who answered instantly. "Susanna, what's up?"
"Dick, where are you now?"
"I'm at Epic Horizon."
"I'm coming over. I need to talk to you," Susanna said in a hurry.
She took the cab to Epic Horizon as she hung up.
While in the cab, she saw that the campus post was gaining traction, with many clueless people offering their congratulations and admiration. Who was guiding public opinion? Could it be Dick?
Susanna opened a compressed file on her phone, entered a page full of code, and embedded the code into the school's forum to find the IP address of the poster. Operating on her phone wasn't as convenient as a computer, and it took her some time.
By the time the cab arrived at the startup park, her phone had analyzed the IP address, which was right here. Seeing the analyzed address, her eyes turned cold. It really was Dick!
Susanna couldn't tell if she hadn't been clear enough or if Dick couldn't understand what she was saying.
She walked into Epic Horizon, and suddenly, the sound of party poppers erupted. Susanna was startled. When she looked up, she saw confetti everywhere and Dick standing at the end of the crowd, holding a large bouquet of red roses. From that moment, Susanna began to develop a dislike for red roses.
All her colleagues began to cheer. Dick walked towards her with a beaming smile. "Susanna, the confession was interrupted yesterday, but today no one will interrupt us. I'm sincere about you. I've thought about it for a long time and finally realized my feelings, so I don't want to suppress them anymore."
Susanna looked at the roses in front of her and took a deep breath. "Dick, I made it very clear yesterday. I don't like you."
"Susanna, stop avoiding it. You said you've been divorced; I don't care about that at all. You really don't have to worry. I don't mind!"
At this moment, Susanna really wanted to curse!
