Chapter 364 She Took Revenge on the Spot
Maud turned to the manager, "Yo, why's there only one seat? She rolled in with me."
"Mrs. Maud Abbott, I'm super sorry, but like, almost everyone showed up today, and we’re outta seats. Next time, just give us a heads-up if you need two invites, and we’ll hook you up with two prime spots, cool?"
The manager made sense, so Maud couldn’t argue. She sighed, "Alright, see if you can find her a spot somewhere."
"Sure thing, no worries."
Maud finally got up and headed to her seat in the center.
Vivian, though, was left standing there, feeling hella awkward.
Elaine sighed dramatically and said, "Vivian, if you end up seatless, wanna squeeze in with me?"
Elaine was clearly out to make Vivian squirm.
Vivian’s face twisted in discomfort. Clutching her handbag tight, she muttered, "No thanks."
The manager glanced at Vivian and asked, "Ma'am, got a DivineDynasty membership card?"
Vivian’s face flushed with embarrassment, and she mumbled, "No."
The manager looked a bit stuck. "Miss, by the rules, if you’re not a member, you can’t be at this show."
Vivian’s face went pale, feeling utterly humiliated.
"Vivian, you’re rocking the latest DivineDynasty dress, but you’re not a member? Did you borrow it?"
Susanna eyed Vivian curiously. She was indeed wearing the latest DivineDynasty dress, which suited her vibe.
But Elaine had a point; did Vivian borrow the dress?
Only DivineDynasty members could snag their stuff!
Vivian took a deep breath and shot back, "Elaine, I might not be rolling in dough like you guys, and I usually don’t care about brands. But I came here with Mrs. Maud Abbott to chill, and my friend didn’t want me to get judged, so she lent me this dress. But it’s just a dress; brand or no brand, it’s all the same to me."
Elaine was left speechless but felt a sting, like she’d been dissed.
Susanna’s lips curled into a cold smile, her tone dripping with sarcasm. "Ms. Nguyen, you’ve got a lot to learn about being thrifty. If you really didn’t care about brands, why wear your friend’s dress? You could’ve said no, but you didn’t, did you?"
Elaine jumped in, "Yeah, weren’t you all smug when we were looking for seats earlier? You even mocked Nova for not knowing the show rules. Doesn’t seem like someone who doesn’t care about money."
Vivian swallowed her anger and replied coolly, "Think whatever you want."
Susanna’s smile widened, "Elaine, see that? You should take notes from Ms. Nguyen on being frugal. I mean, she's still rocking that designer dress even though it's practically falling apart."
She couldn’t stand Vivian acting like she didn’t care about money when she clearly did.
Elaine bluntly called out Vivian’s true colors. "She’s just broke and can’t buy new clothes; it’s not about being frugal. If she had any guts, she’d leave the Abbott family. She’s only sticking around for the cash."
Vivian was shaking with anger, and people around were starting to stare, clearly mocking her.
The manager, trying to keep things chill, quickly said to Vivian, "Since you came with Mrs. Maud Abbott, there's a seat over there; I'll show you."
Vivian turned with a bit of pride and followed the manager, only to find a tiny, cramped seat in the farthest corner of the last row.
Her face soured instantly.
The manager coughed awkwardly, "Sorry, all the guests are here today, so no extra seats."
With that, he bounced. He'd seen too many catfights over seats to care.
Vivian stared at the corner seat, feeling like it matched her mood perfectly. She forced herself to stay calm, walked over, and sat down. She wasn't about to let these snobs get the best of her.
Once seated, she whipped out her phone and snapped a bunch of pics of the venue to post on social media later, keeping up appearances.
She glanced at Elaine and Susanna in the front row and silently vowed that one day, everything in the Abbott family would be Ramond's. When that day came, she'd settle the score. Those who looked down on her would get what was coming.
An hour later, the show wrapped up.
Susanna found it kinda dull, but Elaine was buzzing. "Nova, see any clothes or shoes you like? I'll help you register them so no one else snags 'em."
"No, you go ahead. I'm hitting the restroom."
Susanna wasn't into the shopping scene and got up to head to the restroom.
When she came out of the stall, she saw Vivian emerging from the side. She raised an eyebrow, "Ms. Nguyen, thought you bailed."
Vivian shot back coldly, "Why would I leave?"
"You're not into luxury goods, and you got the worst seat. Can you really take that kind of humiliation? Seems pretty hypocritical."
Susanna knew Vivian wouldn't leave. She'd never pass up a chance.
Vivian washed her hands and flicked some water onto Susanna. She said coldly, "Don't think you're all that. You just got lucky being born with privileges."
Susanna looked down at the water spots on her white T-shirt, her expression turning icy. "Did you do that on purpose?"
"Sorry, it was an accident."
Vivian's tone made it clear it was no accident. She turned and left with a fake smile.
Susanna said calmly, "Hold up."
Vivian stopped and turned back with a smirk. "What? I said it wasn't on purpose. What more do you want?"
In the next second, Susanna kicked over the cleaning lady's mop bucket, splashing dirty water all over Vivian's dress.
Vivian's dress got soaked, and she screamed in frustration, "What the hell? Do you know how expensive this dress is?"
She frantically pulled out tissues to dry it, but the stench of dirty water hit her. Her eyes reddened with anger. This dress was borrowed from a fashion director she knew, thanks to Maud's connections.
Now that it was ruined, how could she explain it?
Susanna calmly washed her hands. "Oops, I slipped."
She never let herself get walked over and always got even right away.
She turned to leave, but Vivian chased after her. "Hold up, you ruined my dress and think you can just walk away?"
