Chapter 362 She Has Always Disliked Being Bullied
Susanna followed Elaine's stare and, sure enough, spotted Vivian all dolled up in an evening gown. Susanna couldn't help but think about the messed-up history between her and Vivian.
Elaine's face looked a bit off 'cause she knew Vivian always had her eyes set on becoming Mrs. Abbott. She'd definitely pull some shady moves.
Last time at the café, it was super weird when Maud just popped up outta nowhere. Later, they found out Vivian had spilled the beans and spread some BS, causing drama between Maud and Nova.
Vivian, strutting in her designer clothes and high heels, sauntered over. "Elaine, you here for the show too? Why didn't you hit me up? We could've come together."
Elaine shot back, "Vivian, this show's invite-only. How'd you score an invite?"
Given Vivian's awkward spot in the Abbott family, if Elaine couldn't get an invite, no way Vivian could.
Vivian smirked and said, "I came with Aunt Maud. She wanted to chill."
Elaine felt a bit salty. "Aunt Maud's so biased. She knows I love this brand, but she'd rather bring an outsider than me."
If it wasn't for Nova, Elaine wouldn't have made it to this private show today.
Maud walked out of the restroom just in time to catch Elaine's words. She frowned and said, "Elaine, that's rude. How could Vivian be an outsider?"
Elaine, fuming, snapped, "How is she not an outsider?"
Maud scoffed, glanced at Susanna, and then said to Elaine, "Elaine, seems like you can't tell who's the real outsider. Are you that easy to buy off with a little gift?"
Elaine was ticked off, but Susanna held her back and smiled. "Elaine, I'm not mad, so why are you? Let's just go watch the show."
Vivian chimed in, "Ms. Ramirez, aren't you gonna say hi to Aunt Maud?"
Susanna turned to look, and Maud was giving her a cold, proud look.
Susanna's lips curled slightly. "We're not that close; no need to say hi."
Maud got pissed hearing Susanna's words. How could Nova be so cocky? Didn't she know Aaron was her son?
Vivian kept pushing, "Ms. Ramirez, you're dating Aaron. Aunt Maud's his mom. Even if you had beef before, you should still say hi, right?"
"I'm dating Aaron, not his mom. That's just how I roll; can't change it."
Susanna knew Vivian was trying to stir the pot, but she wasn't about to give Maud any respect. She wouldn't back down in front of the Abbott family!
Maud couldn't help but snap, "Ms. Ramirez, you better keep that tough act. Think a love without family approval can last?"
"I never planned to go all the way with Aaron!"
Maud was fuming. What did Nova mean by that? How dare she diss Aaron? Even rich girls were dying to marry him!
Seeing Maud wasn't winning, Vivian quickly switched gears. "Ms. Ramirez, I heard your daughter's in the hospital. How do you have time for a show? Shouldn't you be with Lillian?"
Elaine suddenly raised her voice. "Wait, she has a daughter?"
"Elaine, didn't you know? Looks like Ms. Ramirez has been keeping secrets from you."
Susanna shot back with a half-smile, "I never hid it. As long as Aaron knows I have a daughter, who cares if others do?"
Elaine, still in shock, nodded, "Yeah, as long as Aaron's cool with it, who cares what anyone else thinks?"
But deep down, Elaine was floored to find out Nova had a kid!
Maud immediately shot daggers at Elaine. "What do you know? The Abbott family would never accept a woman with a kid. Some people should just give up on that dream. Vivian, let's bounce!"
Maud stormed off, not wanting to waste another breath.
Vivian, looking all smug, said to Susanna, "Ms. Ramirez, you were too rash just now. Pissing off Aunt Maud won't do you any favors."
"I don't kiss up for benefits. You've been kissing up for four years and got zilch, right?"
Vivian's face twisted in anger. She turned to Elaine and said, "Elaine, as an Abbott, you should steer clear of her. Pissing off Aunt Maud won't do you any good."
Elaine was fuming. Why was everyone dumping on her?
Susanna chimed in, "Elaine, they're out of line. You're an Abbott too. How dare Vivian talk to you like that?"
"How dare Vivian act all high and mighty in front of me? If it weren't for Ramond, she wouldn't even be in the Abbott family. That kid might not even be Aaron's."
Elaine got more heated as she spoke. "Vivian used to suck up to me, but now that Aunt Maud sent two nannies for Ramond, she's showing her true colors! Maybe she had something to do with my grandma's fall, but I haven't nailed her yet."
Hearing this, something clicked in Susanna's mind. She asked quietly, "What exactly happened back then?"
"My grandma was hosting a party, but later she was found at the bottom of the stairs. The servants blamed Susanna, and the surveillance footage was wiped. When Aaron said he could recover it, Vivian brought the culprit. Turned out the culprit had snuck into the Abbott family to frame Susanna and target my grandma."
"Didn't you think the culprit was a setup?"
"No, the culprit had beef with Susanna and confessed everything. But it seemed way too easy for Vivian to catch him. When they found Susanna, she was hurt too, which was weird. Later, Susanna was taken to the hospital and found to be pregnant. They said she died during childbirth. Vivian was the only one who gained from it."
After hearing this, Susanna pieced it all together. Everything lined up.
Back then, she had a head injury, leading to a tough childbirth, and was taken back to Novaria by her brothers.
Susanna subconsciously touched the back of her head, where there was still a scar. Suddenly, a scene flashed in her mind, but when she tried to recall it, it slipped away.
It seemed like a scene where she grabbed a woman's ankle.
