Chapter 486 I Don't Care Who You Are, the Outcome Will Be the Same
Susanna shot a cold look and said, "You sober now?"
Betsy, totally shocked, covered her face and glared at Susanna. "You actually hit me? Do you even know who I am?"
Betsy was from Emerald Island, and no one had ever dared to treat her like this before!
Susanna rubbed her wrist and said, "Yeah, I know who you are. But I don't care. If you mess around at the institute today, you're gonna face the same consequences as anyone else."
Betsy screamed, "You're done for! I won't let you get away with this. I'll make sure you get arrested."
But no matter how much Betsy yelled, it didn't matter. All her bodyguards were already lying on the ground, unable to move.
Susanna turned to her secretary and said, "Take her and all these bodyguards to the cops. Also, grab the institute's surveillance footage and send it over. Tell them people from Emerald Island came here causing trouble and trying to hurt people."
Betsy was still defiant and shouted, "You dare touch me? Have you thought about the consequences? We were invited by Mr. Richardson. If you send me to the police, someone will come for you immediately. Do you think you can get away with it?"
"Mr. Richardson invited you?"
Susanna squinted. The relationship between Lindwell and Emerald Island was murky. Owen suddenly inviting people from Emerald Island, could it be an attempt to win them over?
"Scared now? Even Mr. Richardson has to show me respect. You dare call the police and send me to the station? Do you think Mr. Richardson will let you go? To him, crushing someone like you is as easy as snapping a twig."
Susanna listened to Betsy's words and calmly replied, "Even if he's president, he can't ignore Philadelphia's laws."
"You still won't admit you're a commoner! Laws are a lifeline for you commoners, but for us nobles, laws are as fragile as paper. Let me tell you, laws are meant to restrain you commoners."
Betsy looked smug, her nose in the air.
Susanna smirked, "Don't you know that Mr. Richardson recently introduced a regulation to improve Philadelphia's legal system?"
"Even if Mr. Richardson introduces policies to improve the law, it's just to enhance his political achievements. He's not doing it for you commoners. Don't flatter yourself. Laws are just ropes to restrain you commoners."
"So it seems there's no law in Emerald Island."
"Are you kidding? Does Emerald Island need laws? The rules of Emerald Island were left by our ancestors, passed down through generations, unlike your backward outside world."
Susanna's lips curled coldly, "But Connor from Emerald Island recently made a statement on international news about peace, saying that Emerald Island has long become a modern society, no longer a place of feudal rule."
"He said that just to fool you commoners. We from Emerald Island are born with noble blood, completely different from you commoners."
Susanna's grin widened as she asked, "So, you keep yapping about noble blood. What's your deal?"
"My deal? It'd freak you out. My dad's one of the four district chiefs."
Susanna nodded, "Got it."
Emerald Island was run by Connor and the four district chiefs. The island was split into four zones, each managed by one of them, with Connor at the top.
Betsy smirked at Susanna, "Now that you know who I am, let me go and kneel to apologize. Maybe if I'm feeling generous, I'll let you live."
Susanna glanced at her secretary, "Take her straight to the police station."
Betsy was immediately grabbed by the bodyguards and started yelling, "You really gonna send me to the cops? Let me go! If my dad finds out, you're toast. You dare mess with Emerald Island? You're dead."
But no matter how much Betsy screamed, she was dragged away.
Susanna turned to the guy next to her, "Send me the video you just recorded on your phone."
The guy looked a bit sheepish, "I just saw her being all high and mighty, so I thought I'd record it and post it online. Let everyone see what these Emerald Island folks are really like. That way, if they try anything, they can't badmouth our institute."
Susanna nodded, "I get it. That's why I asked those questions earlier, to get some dirt on Emerald Island."
She didn't expect Betsy to be so dumb, spilling everything.
If this got out, not only would Owen be in hot water, but Emerald Island's rep would take a nosedive.
With this dirt on Emerald Island, Susanna needed to figure out how to use it.
After her secretary copied the video, Susanna turned to Aaron, "You okay?"
Aaron rolled up his sleeves, "Just a scratch."
A staff member nearby whispered, "Ms. Jones, who is he?"
Susanna replied seriously, "An old friend."
Aaron's face darkened at that. He stepped forward, grabbed Susanna's wrist, "Just an old friend, huh?"
Susanna tried to pull away, but Aaron held on tight, waiting for her answer.
She sighed, "We've been divorced for years. You really think we're close? I think 'old friend' fits just fine."
Everyone around gasped, "He's your ex-husband?"
"Oh wow, Ms. Jones, your ex is pretty hot!"
Aaron pulled Susanna closer, whispering, "Come with me."
"Stop, let her go."
A young, angry voice suddenly cut through the air.
Hearing Charles' voice, Susanna's face went pale. She thought, 'Oh crap, I totally forgot Charles was still here.'
