Chapter 316 Silent Acts
Sam couldn't help but pour himself a big ol' glass of wine after hearing that. "Man, that's tough to say."
The chick just now looked like Susanna, but she didn't have Susanna's vibe at all.
Aaron glanced at the tiny piece of paper in his hand, feeling something was off, but he couldn't put his finger on it.
Right then, someone came running in, blurting out, "That chick in the bathrobe just threw down with Samantha. It was like a scene straight outta a movie!"
"Really? Was it the hair-pulling, clothes-ripping kind? Let's go check it out."
A bunch of dudes immediately ditched their card game and headed outside. Gotta admit, when guys get curious, they're just as nosy as the ladies.
Aaron quickly followed and, sure enough, saw two women going at it. To be precise, it was Samantha getting her butt handed to her.
Susanna had Samantha's hair in one hand and her arm pinned with the other, making Samantha scream, "Nova, are you nuts? How dare you touch me? This is Radiant Valley. Connor won't let you off; he'll totally sell you out!"
"Let's see if Connor's got the guts."
Susanna was fed up, having waited all night without finding Lillian.
Turns out Samantha snatched Lillian after meeting with Sam, probably planning to use her as leverage. Did she even know whose kid she had the nerve to kidnap?
Aaron, surprised, spoke up, "Her name's Nova?"
Sam was quiet for a moment. "Well, this just got interesting. She actually dared to mess with Samantha, so bold?"
A guy watching the scene chimed in, "Bro, you don't get it, do you? She's Nova, a super VIP client of Radiant Valley. She's loaded, hot, and well-connected."
Sam kept asking, "So what's her deal?"
"We don't know. No one knows Nova's background; she's super mysterious and not someone to mess with."
Aaron stared at the women locked in a heated argument, a touch of confusion in his eyes.
Samantha yelled, "Let go of me. You're dead this time. I'll make sure you wish you were dead."
"Fine, but you gotta tell me where the kidnapped girl is!" Susanna said calmly.
"I don't know!"
Susanna's hand moved to Samantha's nose, commenting, "Nice nose job. If I press a bit, you'll need another surgery."
Samantha broke into a cold sweat and stammered, "I worked hard on this nose. It's my best one yet."
"I won't touch it, but you gotta tell me where the girl is." Susanna asked again.
"I really don't know. Sam took the kid."
Hearing this, Susanna looked confused. "What did you just say?"
The kid was taken by Sam?
Letting go of Samantha, she quickly turned to find Sam, spotting him nearby. With a sweet smile, she walked up to him and asked, "Where's the kid?"
Sam took a step back, hiding behind Aaron. "Why are you looking for Lillian?"
Susanna paused before replying, "None of your business. Hand over Lillian!"
Aaron looked down at her. "You know Lillian? What's your relationship?"
Facing Aaron's scrutiny, Susanna placed her hand on his shoulder. "Handsome, what's your last name?"
"My last name's Abbott."
"Mr. Abbott, I need to talk to Sam alone." Susanna asked, trying to keep it cool.
This was between her and Sam; she didn't want any third wheels.
Aaron frowned, but Sam, hiding behind him, quickly said, "I won't talk to you alone. Whatever you have to say here, say it.."
Susanna, looking desperate, glared at Sam. "If anything happens to Lillian, you'll wish you were dead."
Aaron saw the real panic in her eyes. Finally, he sighed, "Alright, let's find a quieter spot to chat."
Susanna nodded. "Fine."
The three of them headed to a nearby rest area, away from prying eyes.
Susanna locked eyes with Sam. "Where's Lillian?"
"Lillian's fine. I'm not a monster; I wouldn't hurt a kid," Sam replied.
"Then why's her smartwatch been unreachable? What did you do to her?"
Sam looked genuinely puzzled. "I don't know," he muttered.
Aaron jumped in, "Lillian's smartwatch ran out of battery."
"But it's been unreachable since last night. Does it take all night to charge?" Susanna clearly wasn't buying it.
Aaron explained, "When we got back last night, she was already asleep. I didn't know her watch was dead. She told me this morning, and it should be charged by now."
"Really?" Susanna pulled out her phone and called Lillian, but it went straight to voicemail.
Waving her phone, she challenged Aaron, "How do you explain this?"
Aaron looked confused. It didn't add up; the watch should've been charged by now. Sam also found it odd.
Susanna's face turned icy. "Where's Lillian? Take me to her."
Aaron stared at her and asked, "What's your relationship with Lillian?"
"Are you blind? Lillian looks a lot like me. Do you really need to ask?"
Sam nodded. "See, I figured Lillian had to be close to you."
Aaron, being difficult, said, "Got a photo? Preferably a group shot."
Susanna, holding back her anger, found a photo of her and Lillian on her phone. "See? Now can you take me to Lillian?"
Whether Aaron and Sam were lying or not, they at least knew where Lillian was.
As Lillian's dad, no matter how much of a jerk Sam was, he wouldn't hurt her.
The three of them went to the hotel suite upstairs. In the elevator, no one spoke; the tension was thick.
Sam tried to make himself invisible. He swore he had nothing to do with this woman named Nova, let alone having such a big daughter.
When the elevator doors opened, Susanna urged, "Hurry up and lead the way."
She needed to see Lillian with her own eyes to be sure.
Aaron walked to his suite, opened the door, and gestured, "She's inside."
As soon as the door opened, Susanna rushed in. "Lillian?" She frantically scanned the living room but saw no sign of her.
The sound of running water came from the bedroom. Could Lillian be showering? Without hesitation, Susanna marched to the bedroom and flung open the bathroom door. "Lillian, you in here?"
